Good pick up Robuko! I was in Detroit for work today(about 3 hours away), and I stopped at the Lego Store. Pretty good selection in the PaB wall today-1x3 Light Bley bricks, Light Bley 2x2x1 slopes and 2x2x2 slopes, 2x2 Dark Tan tiles, 1x4 Reddish Brown tiles, etc....I loaded up! Alos, finally got some of the knights from Series 9 CMF.

I am definitely jealous of you americans who seem to have a Lego store with PaB in every city worth of notice :P

Here in Sweden they havn't opened a single one yet (Not even in Stockholm!), so my closest one is in Copenhagen 670 km (416 miles) away...

Good thing I had enough creativity when raiding the Orlando PaB a year ago to pick up a few smaller tan plates, great for landscaping now :)

When I used to live in PA, going to Disney always meant going to PaB, that was like half the excitement for a trip there. Then I moved there, and I didn't utilize it near enough (even with discount!) Luckily, I moved to within 50 miles of two stores and an imagination center, and supposedly a third store is being opened in my city soon. But, there are those places like Nebraska, Kansas, and Montana that it is a long haul from any Lego store still. I think TLG is doing a great job expanding though.

Heh, heh. I live about 10 minutes from one lego store and 40 from another. There's also a discovery center about 20 minutes away.

One word - Jealous.

Finally, one last favor. In one months’ time, I request that each of you to send one of your strongest and most trusted men to the coordinates listed at the end of this letter. If I am successful, there will be a mission waiting for them that requires talent and strength that only an elite team could handle. (if you want to participate, post a picture / name of who you are sending).

Farewell my friends, and I wish you all hope and victory in our war against Victor.

Friends,

the PGTC is appalled by the loss of our trusted allies and competitors. We are pleased to send our volunteer Mike on this mission. He is young and strong, and doing it to win the heart of Rowena, the young fool. So, if he dies, it will be a tragedy and she will seek vengeance. Frankly, his teenage bravado will not be greatly missed. But we are not sure if this letter is genuine....

Well, Kansas City did just get a new one last year, so it is a lot easier for us Nebraskans to go. I'm 3 hours from it. We went last October for my daughter's birthday celebration (also other fun stuff) and then we are going again next month for our anniversary.

I have gone there once, but I didn't really like the way the pick-a-brick was set up. It used the bag system. That is usually the main thing I buy at Lego stores because it is cheaper than Shop at Home and I can get the sets I want at Target or Walmart without much fuss.

It used the bag system.

I think that's because the one in KC proper is a Discovery Center. They don't do VIP points either. Not cool.

The one in Olathe (or Overland Park?) is a 'real' Lego Store and should have the cups and VIP, but I've never been there so can't tell you for sure.

Your discovery center does not give 10% off to VIP members showing their card? It is always better to buy from the DC here in the Dallas area (if they have what you are looking for) because they give you that extra 10% which is better than Lego's own 5% with the rewards.

The discovery Centers bag systems are way too expensive IMO. I don't even bother going to the one in Chicago since they switched to bags. I believe the DCs are half owned by Lego and half by a different company.

Yeah it is Merlin Entertainment, they run the Legolands too. Here they give you slushy cups, which I believe are slightly larger than the small PaB cups, for 8 dollars -- as I said previously, with the 10% VIP discount, 7.20 for bricks (when they have anything good) seems OK to me. For me personally, the two Lego Stores in my area are over an hour's drive because of traffic, so I end up at the LDC that is 25 min away more often. They have not had much tan or bley lately.

I meant the Overland Park, KS one. To me, all of that area is Kansas City. The discovery center does use the bag system and I bypassed that pick a brick because it was so expensive. We did buy some cool LEGO magnets there that aren't sold anywhere else. But you're right, they don't take the VIP card. They said they weren't affiliated with LEGO proper (or something). It seemed odd, but I guess TLG did sell their discovery centers to help make ends meet years ago, or at least that is what I heard.

The Overland Park store has a pretty good pick a brick selection and they utilize the cup method. I will be going there again in a month, so we'll see how their pieces have changed.

I was in Dallas last year, not far from the Discovery Center, due to continuing education, but I didn't make it there to see how their selection was.

I overcame my shame and squeezed through a couple of boxes of series 9 minifigs the other day in a gift shop aboard one of the ferries over the Baltic, managed to find some 2x2 tiles which supposedly belongs to the roman emperor. I think his torso and legs seems very Kaliphlin :classic:

I have the same problem... It was much better with the barcodes, you could do it quick and people didn't look at you funny. Now i just grab a handful and find other uses for the stuff I don't want.

In this case the lady in the shop told me that it would have been better if they had written on the bags since people seems to ask for specific figures. I agreed and told her I was looking for the "elf girl" and had to buy a few suspect bags to hopefully get one, even though I was quite certain I had found 3.
