A whole hour! That's a trek! I'm spoiled with my Lego store 5 minutes away.

Chalk me up to have one near me within ten minutes! It happens to be the only one in the state, actually, so lucky me I suppose.

There are a Lego Imagination Center and a Lego Store in Orlando, there is Legoland Florida in Winter Haven (southwest of Orlando), and a Lego Store in the Sunrise area around Ft. Lauderdale. It is prohibitively exspensive for me to go to any of these places, as I live only 12 miles southwest of Gainesville. It has been over eight years since I've even been in Orlando. Lego outside of large department stores in Florida is mainly focused on the tourist trade.

Back to GOH, Visiting Herbologists is coming along. It should be finished next week. I don't know when photography will happen, though, as I don't have the camera right now. Hopefully I will be able to purchase a good camera in April.

Since a few months, I got an official Lego Store (with nice PaB) half an hour driving from my place!

And they got some really usefull stuff there, so I am really glad with it :classic:

Next week I will go to a stock sale (-40%) of a shop. They will normally have all the newest sets and much more. So I wonder what I will buy then :classic:

Sorry guys, I had to take some time off from building because work and family but my planned builds are still underway. Continuation of Meriths story will hopefully be up Sunday and I'm working on more adventures of Puss "No" Boots.

Posted

Wow no chatter here for an entire day... Well I got my Puss "No" Boots MOC posted and the finishing pieces for Merith's MOC should arrive tomorrow so that should be up Saturday. That one is a bit bigger so may have a hard time photographing. It is set in Varlyrio. Seems like I've been venturing outside of Kaliphlin of late. :look:

Can't wait, and the Puss "no" Boots was a great looking MOC as usual.

I too think I may have something up this weekend. I hope to have a pic of the completed bridge up soon... I am doing details now... but Don't have a lot of pieces for it.

Yeah, I haven't had much to say....but I'm here reading everyday! I have been busy, and trying to use my freetime to build for C6.

***EDIT****I guess the only news that I have to post is that I just got my first ever order from BrickForge! I have not ever had any custom items before, but when it arrived yesterday I was quite pleased. My only complaint is that if you have a lego suit of armor on a fig, then put on the BrickForge Neck Armor with some pualdrons, the basic helmet with moveable visor doesn't sit right on the figs head...it keeps popping off because it can't fit down far enough on the figs head to snap onto the stud.

Oh well, I guess the knights will all have their glamour shots with nicely combed hair

IRL has sort of gotten in the way of Visiting Herbologists. I have storyline fix for the delay, though. I also am just about to go pick up my latest Brickforge order. Yay to package tracking. This order should make Visiting Herbologists even more interesting.

Finished my bridge. I am planning on building the rest of the battlefield (I have a few pieces already...) this weekend, and then fighting the battle next week. I am going to do a background story and a "Call to Arms" tonight or tomorrow, where I will explain what happened to those large armies that were sent to help reenforce. (don't worry, some of the men made it for the battle, the others are doing other important stuff)

I've decided to share with you an idea I had for Chal. VI that may add another dimension to the story. I plan on using the body of Iron Man from Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape with some Brickforge. I think I'll have Victor's brother Kaïn find the ancient armor (and the golem within). It will be a remnant of the time when the Lord of Kaliphlin ruled the land from Cedrica.

So you mean that I would at least have the coming weekend (march 30-31) to put together a group of figs to send to the front? It would be great since it's Easter and public holidays on both friday and monday here in Sweden, so that would probably mean some building time for me finally :classic:

(I have an idea of a MOC along the Arkbri River between Barqa and Queenscross where my sigfig and a few other men are travelling to Queenscross)

Yes, that would work. I want to start on the 28th, but most likely it will only be set up. So, you would arrive fairly early in the battle probably even coming in on the 30th. I am actually extending the battlefield another table (probably), in order to add some more buildings to the burnt out side of the river, so this will be a longer process than first thought.

Sounds great! Don't rush it, I'd rather see a well fought battle on a well prepared battlefield extending over a few real life weeks so we can follow the tension of the fight in detail if it's possible :classic:

Yes this is starting to look like a two weekend thing.

This is probably not the time to say this, but I really had little interest in Ch 6, and rather play a supporting role in the stories, so that is why this battle has consumed my building time. With that being said, most of my bricks and all of my space will be tied up in Queenscross for at least the first week of April. I know I owe it to the guild to do Ch 6, but I just want to say that my entries may be much smaller and more story.

Posted

Smaller builds with more story doesn't sound bad, size must be just one aspect they judge? ;)

I am slowly getting my hopes up that I might be able to do something similar. I'll will in that case adapt my story to the outcome of the battle at Queenscross and try to get a couple of MOCs together, at least if our kid doesn't decide to arrive earlier than expected (around the deadline of C VI)

This reminds me of the saying "Its not the size that matters, its what you do with it!"

I firmly believe that three quality16X32 MOCS can easily trump three 48X48 MOCS in this challenge. I wouldn't worry about what size they turn out in the end, just focus on doing the best job you can with what you have. I know for me none of my builds are coming anywhere close to hitting the max 48X48 mark.

Speaking of challenge 6- how many Kaliphins are thinking about trying to enter so far? I know I will have something, but I'll probably be working on it till the last moment like usual.

Posted

I'm in for sure. I have the first 2 builds done, and the third is taking longer than I expected but it will be complete for sure. And yes, one is 32x48, one is 32x32 and the one I'm still on is 32x64(which is less studs than 48x48). So mine are not hitting the size limit either

Posted

I'm completely done except for the story, which I really should write, but I've got three (one GoH-related) builds to finish in four days or so, so the story-writing will probably have to wait until April! Mine are two 50x34s and one more probably around 48x20 (not sure as to the exact footprint), plus a couple other builds that go along with the story. I think the story will be a major factor for this Challenge, at least in the voting (GoHer's aren't just going to want a good build, but also a good storyline to match). So yeah, I agree, this time size isn't such a major factor.
