I finally got organized to some extent. Two of my moc's just need some finishing touchs and figs. In one of them I'm going to have some violence. Do you guys think I should do a bloody photoshopped action sequence?

Blood is always a plus, specially when it is from our enemies, but perhaps you would like to make two photos, one with the blood and one without it so we can appreciate the both.

Z has NO power to give titles or tags on EB. Si-MODs does as of like today or something, but mods are sneaky, so I wouldn't assume anything. It could have been ISC or Pandora for all we knew. Either way, cool tag, good work, congrats!

ah so I thought

thanks!

You wouldn't mind of telling me how he got such a tag? I've never seen a tag given out randomly.

If I may say so, I believe that people get shields for large castle/historical contributions.

Yeah, tags are not just reserved for contests winners; if you've been active/build well/do something you could get rewarded with a tag. It's not exactly "random" as you have to do something... but it's not like you'll get one for trying!

After a long time only reading, I have some pics and infoormation for you:

Here are some WIP pics from my nearly(70%) finished landscape. I have the castle on the top nearly finished, pics will follow. I am happy about praise, criticism and ideas for improvement. My landscape is 6 at 4 32x32 plates and with about 400 minifigures when it is finished

(where I can change the height of the pics?)

Here some informations about my character:

Name: Fortes Reacher

Nickname: hellboy

Rank: Warlord, Duke of Fortes Isles,

Age: 25

Weapon: Sword, Gunpowder-weapons

History:

Fortes met his parents never, because he was adopted and raised by a wealthy aristocrat. It was already clear that he had to start a career in the royal army, so that in his early age he was forced to begin a military training. Through his skill and an unintentional help of his father, he went at the age of 20 the career ladder quickly imported. During this time and in reason of the hard and brutal training, his strategic skills and knowledge in topics of warfare, he gained the nickname "hellboy,". He has a lot of enemies, because many military people don’t want to see such a young person in a so powerful position. He advocate for the development of gunpowder weapons and steam-powered tools and for the military useful.

For the successful battles, which Fortes was defeated, he gets a small island in northwest of Avalonia in the Avalonian-ocean, which he called Fortes Isles. There he has this domicile and two small towns under his rule. The town people love him for his low taxes and his fair justice. Here he is building his preproduction models of steampunk airships and his gunpowder weapons. In his eye this is the right way into a new century.

Looking great.

Perhaps you should go more on the height of the castle on the hill, just for dominate the surroundings.

Good to have you back. :classic:

I was wondering why nobody uses black plates for wet or rich soil?

Hmm.... black would strike me as a bit too dark. If you did want wet or rich soil, you'd think dark brown would be the way to go (or poss. old color brown?), with occasional black pieces perhaps?

Good suggestion  Lots of places have black soil, I'll have to keep that in mind as I have tons of black plates :classic:

Some interesting builds appearing!

Good to see Beerbeard back again, and that a good poin about black plates. I used black on my first mocs, mainly because I didn't have any brown back then. I thought the result actually looked ok. I havn't used black since, mainly because dark brown came along. I think black has its place for landscaping but it needs to be the right sort of environment for it to work. Perhaps some old volcanic mountains or a more darker fantasy style rock work. I think I may try some black on some future builds. You should give it a go Captain, I'm sure you can make it work.

His Lord ship writes double for emphasis, I presume.

Funny, I never really thought about doing rich soil in black. Will be doing that in the future considering that at least a fourth of my collection is in black. I suppose that color is easy to manufacture.

Yes, potting soil is definitely BLACK, but farmland is usually more of a dark brown.

Wet it might look pretty darn close to black though. Might be a cool thing to try. The other issues is black is so darn hard to photograph! I would like to see Beery make it work!

Black as wet or rich soil might work if you pepper it with 1x1 round plates. Use reddish brown and old brown for tilled, nutrient rich soil as these could be decomposing plant material. The grey and yellow/tan/orange families of color can be used as loose rocks in the dirt, just make sure you use the same color family for any large rocks or boulders in the scene. It would be prudent to use the lighter colors of green for your plants near the black soil, to help with the contrast and simulate new plant growth. A good place to use dark brown with black would be as a muddy riverbank, where a gradation of color is appropriate: the lighter color on top of the darker color.

Hope that helps.
