Brickington Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Very nice to another great build for Avalonia!
de Gothia Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Brickboy: Nice little moc. Great to see a white background! Perhaps add more details? Like coobles on the ground, more colours on the ground. A tree in the background? Different heights? Have the hanging rack in the same coluor? Right now the fella is hanging over the trap door. Shouldn´t he be hangning down into it? Just some tips! These will be in a coming moc for Avalonia! A little prelude to the challenge!
ZCerberus Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Good work on thinking about the background and getting us a nice, blank canvas to view. Looks like the build needs some more work though. A storm trooper helmet, an exposed baseplate without any foliage, a mix of colors, these are all things that could take us "out" of the MOC. My suggestion would be if you don't have a big brick selection, that you focus on one thing and build it really well. I see three torture devices here, perhaps cut back to just one and put all your efforts into making that awesome.
PenPlays Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 You've done a pretty good job Brickboy. You should listen to Z as he has some excellent advice about smaller collections. @de Gothia I'm intrigued. You've made me very interested in what is coming from your Ch VI entry. Can't wait to see it. Suppose I should get started on mine.
Brickington Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Sorry fellow Avalonians, but I'm afraid I won't be doing Challenge 6. I am to busy with my pirate series (click on the banner in signature).
brickboy12 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) thanks guys Edited January 30, 2013 by brickboy12
Brickington Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 sorry about being so RUBBISH. What?!? Can you please explain what you mean?
brickboy12 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 nothing just that its my first ever and it was rubbish I agree with you lot
NiceMarmot Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I'm looking for an Avalonian to volunteer some of his troops for an MOC I'm doing. They will be pursuing a band of Hand of Corruption scum deep into Kaliphlin territory. They'll be dressed as green dragon knights like this: so that's why I think they're Avalonian (let me know if I'm wrong about that). Your sigfig could be leading them if you want, and if I can build it, but it might be easier to designate one of your commanders to lead them and I'll use an appropriate Avalonian-looking commander from my collection. That way your sigfig can still run the show back in Greater Greensward or wherever. Just tell me the commander's name, your sigfig's name, the name of your territory, and any special name you have for this particular military unit. I promise to take care of your soldiers -- they'll do well and win glory, although a few of them might not make it back Thanks in advance.
Brickington Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 My sig-fig name's Lord Brickington and territory is Hanaco. If that's what you wanted.
TheLegoDr Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Since I'm just now trying to get involved, has it been established if we use the standard yellow figures or Licensed skin tone figures? Or does it matter? I know some people hate mixing them and most MOCs have yellow, but I thought I would ask before I started to look at my figures and build up my own army/scenes. Thanks in advance.
Rogue Angel Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 It doesn't matter if you use Yellows or Fleshies. It's your choice.
Kayne Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Like rogueang said its pretty much up to you. Most use Yellow, Derfel Cadarn is currently using fleshies in his series, and I use Yellows for humans and Fleshies for elves....its all about what you like or what you have most of!
Brickington Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I use yellows, but due to my rising collection of fleshies, I might do both. But I will never blend. That would disgusting.
gedren_y Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 The Kaliphlin have the full range. The people of the Nestlands are mostly light flesh.
Rogue Angel Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 It has actually worked out well now for me (even though I hate fleshies). I have been forced into fleshies for Star Wars, so now I use fleshies for SW and yellows for Castle - my 2 big Army Builder themes.
Legonardo Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Like rogueang said its pretty much up to you. Most use Yellow, Derfel Cadarn is currently using fleshies in his series, and I use Yellows for humans and Fleshies for elves....its all about what you like or what you have most of! you see, im not going crazy, im just following our magnificent leader as a little avalonian should
Maxim I Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I am using them together already since a long time (I do always check if a minifig is completely yellow or fleshie). One of my last moc's can show the result: I honestly don't see the point why we should divide them...
brickboy12 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Sometimes it can look disgusting but I agree with DaMaximus it's like saying different raced people on earth should be separated It's like our black and White thing just yellow and fleshies Nice little MOC DM

Captain BeerBeard Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I personally like both but not mixed. The fleshies, I think are more for the big boys.Yellow is more for peeps that can't except change. So naturally I like both.
Kai NRG Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I use yellow, and I'd probably stick with yellow even if I had enough flesh to compete, but I don't anyways, so... I'll stick with yellow. Flesh seems a bit more suited to a less bright (color) style of building, DC and Legonardo have a tendency to do that, so I think them using flesh works really well. Whereas I prefer to stick with green grass, blue water, and bright, vibrant colors, rather than changing everything into pastel shades, just because that's more my personality...

So naturally I like both. Haha! That does sound like you Beery! I like the yellows just because I have so many more faces/expressions with them. I do agree that the fleshies make MOCs look more "real", but since LEGO and the GoH are fantasy, whateves!
Captain BeerBeard Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 (edited) @ZC That's word! Whateve's! Do what you want, people. Edited February 1, 2013 by Captain BeerBeard
