Storel Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Might I slip in while the door's open? I am awaiting a delivery before I can post up some figs. (The one I have (The Wanderer from the gladiator games) is currently sidelined for a story which will tie in to other stuff ) *wave*
Captain BeerBeard Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Might I slip in while the door's open? I am awaiting a delivery before I can post up some figs. (The one I have (The Wanderer from the gladiator games) is currently sidelined for a story which will tie in to other stuff ) *wave* Yes. Please, slip in. Whoa! That did not sound right. @Andonii I got's three moc's on the way. Are you workin' on any?
de Gothia Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 A little moc I made! Topic can be found here http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=66997
Derfel Cadarn Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 To all those who have messaged me regarding their Emabassy scores, I apologize that I didn't get the time to reply today, but I will be doing it tomorrow and hopefully challenge 3 will also be up and running tomorrow. Thanks for you patience! @de Gothia, wonderful scene, I'm really getting into building interiors myself at the moment. I really love the use of the Minotaur head and the gold trophys, nice work!
Legonardo Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Some new mocs for our mighty guild! the mines: and for the high king of the elves title:
Derfel Cadarn Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 Greetings Guildsmen! Important information has reached Avalonia, and matters are now being discussed in the great throne hall of Albion. Artorious: "Owain!" he grinned. "So you return." Owain: "Yes my lord, and with important and interesting news!" Artorious: "Glad to hear it, i'm wasting away of boredom in this room!" he laughed. Owain stepped forward as others started gathering around to hear what news he had brought. Owain: "Well my Lord, I think this may be the start of something thats anything but boring" he smiled. Artorious: "Im all ears Owain, but before you start, help yourself to some mead, I take it your thirsty?" he grinned. Owain: "Ahh its good to be back!" ...And so Owain told Artorious everything. Challenge III - Treasure Hunt Description: Build an epic scene which depicts your adventurer entering and searching a mysterious location for the Elemental Crystals. The location may be any fantasy/castle site you wish, but it must feel ancient, remote, and ominous. (Ancient tombs, catacombs, jungle ruins, long-forgotten temples, sewers, caves, bandit hideouts and many others are all possibilities!) The crystal must be guarded by some sort of guardian or trap, and a heavy emphasis on thematic building is encouraged. (For example if you are building an ancient tomb, undead may guard the treasure, and if you are building a jungle locale, natives/wild animals may be the guardians)Guardians may be dispersed throughout the location, or only appear in the treasure chamber. Anything can be a guardian; from people, to magical beings to mechanized sentinels. Specifics: • No size limit: Build as big or small as you wish, points won’t be based on size, but on quality, detail and imagination. • Build must be an ancient site, may be set indoors, outdoors, in any climate and environment. • Build must include guardians. (see above) • Build should be accompanied by a short story about the adventurer's trials through the location. (Either comic-form or narrative paragraph) • Build must contain the correct crystal/gem piece for your Guild as a treasure: Avalonia - Green (Earth) Kaliphlin - Blue (Water) Mitgardia - Clear (Air) Nocturnus - Red (Fire) There are two months to build for this round, (Due date April 28th, 2012) and we are raising the bar of expectations yet again, so take your time and build quality MOC's! We will be looking for details, imagination, building techniques and good presentation. Let's find these crystals so that we may unlock the greatest treasure in all of Historica!
MikeyB Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 excellent! I was hoping it was some sort of treasure hunt! I was pondering a ruins as a historic build for Circardia and this will tie in nicely with the new challenge. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! Also great throne room DC!
Siercon and Coral Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Sorry it's been awhile! But we have not forgotten about our lands of Avalonia in the shroud of the Mystic Isles. We find it funny that we are supposed to look for green/gems treasure considering our last moc lol. And this is gonna be slightly off topic as well, but either way we hope to continue painting an Avalonian picture of the Mystic Isles. There are magic crystals our forestmen seek to find... But they are Red and grow from the giant magic fire flower... hope it works for the challenge but regardless here's another MOC ;D And here is the link to the Eurobricks thread :) Enjoy!
Niku Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 This is going to be the hardest challenge of the three rounds, at least for me, I have no experience on making caves, little foliage, and no knowledge about building creatures from Lego, nonetheless I will see how to deal with it. And want to congrat the effort from everyone for giving life to Historica.

Captain BeerBeard Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 This challenge sounds like it's made for my LEGO collection!
NiceMarmot Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 DC - that throne room is completely awesome! The detailing is magnificent, especially in the second picture. What an inspiration. Any chance you'll take some more pictures and post it as its own MOC thread?
Captain BeerBeard Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 For round 3, do we have to build in Avalonia?
Brickdoctor Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Sounds good! Landscaping's not my strong point, but I have a couple ideas. Now, to get them in the brick faster than I did for Challenge 2... (which I didn't build for ) For round 3, do we have to build in Avalonia? It says the Avalonian key is hidden in Avalonia, and you have to find the key of your guild, so...
Derfel Cadarn Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 Greetings Guildsmen. I see lots more great mocs appearing, great work, and good to see us continue to push the guild forward! The new challenge gives lots of opertunity for some great creative mocs. This is the most open challenge yet and I can assure you all that there will be some great prizes for this one. Remember, you can really create any scene you want with this. Yes it has to be based in Avalonia, but that doesn't mean its got to be all green trees and forests. For example, the Crystal could be hidden in a underwater temple at the bottom of a lake, or in some underground catacombs guarded by lond dead ancient warriors, or in a church crypt, graveyard, hidden temple, inside a mountain etc etc. Lots of great possibilities. Also, the added challenge of having a guardian protecting the Crystal is also a great excuse for you to try and push yourselves at creating something you wouldn't usually do. Anything could be guarding the Crystal, Dragons, Troll's, Ghosts, Demons, Monsters, ancient mechanical drones or you could go down the dangerous trap route and build a scene with lots of traps protecting the Crystal that mean instant death to those that try and take it. Lots of room for creativity and you also have no size limit. Im looking forward to seeing what you all come up with. We have won one challenge, so lets win another one! Just to clear up a point regarding Challenge 3: There are only 4 crystals, one in each land. There are not lots of false crystals that have been hidden in shrines that have just sprung up all over the place. Obviously we couldn't just have 1 guild member building a moc from each guild for challenge 3. The idea is that everyone builds their own interpretation of their guild discovering the crystal that lies hidden in their land. But i'm sure you all knew that right I have updated the Title list on the first page and added everyones recent titles they have earned. I have chose not to index the mocs on the first page anymore, this is because we now have a main index for GOH. Sorry it's been awhile! But we have not forgotten about our lands of Avalonia in the shroud of the Mystic Isles. We find it funny that we are supposed to look for green/gems treasure considering our last moc lol. I thought that too, your last moc would have made a great entry. It would also have made a great advert promo picture for this round. DC - that throne room is completely awesome! The detailing is magnificent, especially in the second picture. What an inspiration. Any chance you'll take some more pictures and post it as its own MOC thread? Thanks, I only have the four pictures, but I will post it in the main thread so it can get indexed. For round 3, do we have to build in Avalonia? Yes you do, but if you read the above info I wrote then you will realise that you can still pretty much build in any style for this. You don't need to build timber houses and green forests for this round, unless you want to of course. Keep up the great work guildsmen, lets continue to push our building skills and make Avalonia stand out as the Mightiest of Guilds! DC
Captain Blackmoor Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 This is going to be awesome! Way too many ideas already, and lots of time on my hands. I'm really pumped to start immediately! Oh and DC, that throneroom is fantastic!
Legonardo Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I WAS attempting to build a small village in northern Avalonia- but I have abandoned it for challenge 3 here is the only building that was 100% done, and was located on a small hill. I had other buildings nearly done, just missing out minor deatails, but they are gone now. hope you like this one! Fantastic throne room DC!

But i'm sure you all knew that right For challenge 3, do we actually need to show our someone finding the crystal? I have already thought of a bit of a story to go behind my build, that introduces a number of characters that I want to use in future builds. The problem is that I can't treat my version of finding the crystal as canonical, as that would be unfair to everyone else, and would interfere with the story that you guys are laying out for us. To counter this, I could have my character think he is on the right path, only to come to a dead end.

I assume the winning build from this guild will be accepted as the basis for the canonical story.
Zach Mills Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 You're just building your interpretation of finding the crystal. I assume the winning build from this guild will be accepted as the basis for the canonical story. That's just the thing though. I would be foolish to assume that I will win, but I still want the story to be canonical.
Captain BeerBeard Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 @Leggonardo look's good. Here is another crappy wip update pic. My wedding scene(the one in the back)is done. It just need's a few more avatars. I think I have about ten sigfig's in it so far. This blue wizard shop is for a wizardy area of Avalonia. I'm building this to try to get my grand wizard/master wizard title. I don't know which one sound's better? Finally there is a little ghetto shack that was inspiredd by Diablo II ActI.
Brickdoctor Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 That's just the thing though. I would be foolish to assume that I will win, but I still want the story to be canonical. You can always alter the story slightly later. (us Star Wars fans like to say, "Bah, retcons!" whenever that's done) I must admit that I'm not exactly sure how it will be handled, though. Derfel?
Legonardo Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Thanks for updating the first post DC, did I get the lord high executioner title? I built a Moc for it but my name doesn't have it... Also Is it possible for a title "Lord of the Dwarves" or something like that? I am planning to (eventually) build a great dwarvern hall, similar to your throne room, only shorter very cool mocs Beerbeard! I would go with master wizard.
Derfel Cadarn Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 @Beerbeard, looking good, I like the different colored buildings, a nice change from the usual color builds we get here. Looking forward to seeing you Wizard scene. You can always alter the story slightly later. (us Star Wars fans like to say, "Bah, retcons!" whenever that's done) I must admit that I'm not exactly sure how it will be handled, though. Derfel? Well once this challenge is complete, then we will continue the story on saying that the Crystal has been found from each realm. We won't pick on a specific person and say they found it. So it will be left open so that everyone can feel that they found the Crystal. But no-one will ever know who really found it Thats the way will will run with it. We do have to change the challenge like this every now and then, otherwise it will get stale if we kept saying ' build a farm' or 'build a castle' etc.
Zach Mills Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 That works. I guess I should get to work. I feel like I need to do a bit of catching up anyway, not having any solid builds to show for myself thus far. I got started with what seemed like a reasonable place to start, and built part of an Avalonian house. Once my box of light gray studs gets here from Germany, I should be able to post it.
