Angeli Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Sorry to intrude on another lands forums... That is because you are intruding. Flies intrude, Nocturnias conquer! The only situation that this is fine to say is this: you conquered half of Avalonia, sent a bunch of them to work as slaves in the mines, and then one fine afternoon you go down into the shaft of the mines, tap one of this green-lovers on the shoulder while they are digging and say: "Sorry to intrude, you fine men, but I wanted to ask you a question or two. Do not worry, it will be short, and you will be able to go back to jour job in a minute!" ;) Drow rule supreme! :)
Battlegorilla Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I want to join! Currently, most of my avatar and his crew are in pieces, scattered across the land, waiting to be gathered by the forces of Bricklink and reassembled here. So, the required photograph is...to be forthcoming. I do have a few questions, though. When putting my crew together, I was wondering how much customization is allowed/tolerated. Decals? Painting? Third party accessories (stuff from BrickForge and BrickWarriors, etc.)? Once avatar photos are posted, are we allowed to change their look? Or are our avatars like old-school cartoon characters who only ever have one outfit and one hairstyle? My plan here is to get the initial photo of my avatar (et al) up, then work on the treasure hunt challenge. After that, can I still work on the earlier challenges, even though the deadlines have come and gone? Is this forbidden? Is it encouraged? What's the thinking here? Let me know. Thanks much. Battle_Gorilla
Storel Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hiya battle_gorilla, As far as I know, - it's fine to build the previous challenges as free builds, they just won't be awarded any points or prizes. - For free builds customisation is fine, but challenges may have restrictions on what can/can't be used. - As long as you post up your avatar to the specifics in the first post, you can then afterwards change it's outfit. I'd suggest keeping same head/hairstyle though, unless you have some different heads that look similar just with different expressions. Speaking of... I really should get mine posted up. I have the pieces I've been waiting for, just haven't had the time. And, hopefully someone else will clarify what I've said just to make sure
ZCerberus Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I think Storel got it all right- but just to cofirm... I do have a few questions, though. When putting my crew together, I was wondering how much customization is allowed/tolerated. Decals? Painting? Third party accessories (stuff from BrickForge and BrickWarriors, etc.)? Do whatever you want. There maybe some restrictions on using non-LEGO pieces for challeneges, but you can ask about that when the challenges happen. My plan here is to get the initial photo of my avatar (et al) up, then work on the treasure hunt challenge. After that, can I still work on the earlier challenges, even though the deadlines have come and gone? Is this forbidden? Is it encouraged? What's the thinking here? Totally encouraged. As stated, you won't be getting us any challenge points for those builds, but they can still be free builds. We haven't had any free builds scored at all. I think that is cause the other guilds are scared of our free building prowess!!
Captain BeerBeard Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I had quite a response to the AAG. Don't post an assassin and think your in the guild. You must be recognized by the AAG to even be considered. So, if your avatar values honor, honesty, love, pride etc.. the AAG is not for you. We are still good guys, though.
Derfel Cadarn Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Greetings guildsmen, I am sorry for not ring very active recently but I have had a very heavy workload these past weeks and have also been working on a new moc. I want to join! Decals? Painting? Battle_Gorilla Welcome, and I see all your questions have been answered by members already. Although I will add that we are quite open when outcomes to contests, so I'm pretty sure some custom stuff is useable. I had quite a response to the AAG. Don't post an assassin and think your in the guild. You must be recognized by the AAG to even be considered. So, if your avatar values honor, honesty, love, pride etc.. the AAG is not for you. We are still good guys, though. Sounds good. I am currently working on a new build forthw mystic isles, it's an old overgrown dark castle type ruin. It's known as the Sanctuary Of The Damned, and if it's ok I might mention in its description that it is sometimes used by the AAG for secret training and other stuff. I wanted it to be a mysterious building used by more secret clans when they need to. A bit like a holiday house for those who like to dabble in secrecy and dark arts.
Captain BeerBeard Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 @DC That sound's great! I can't wait to see it.

Captain BeerBeard Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 @timura That look's awesome. When are going to upload it?
Jason Cicchini Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Adding to the Avalonian Free Build Bombardment, I've just posted my Merchant's House. C&C's welcome!
mephistopheles Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Hi! My first build for Avalonia is done! I had to protect my settlement Woodward from a wild Werewolf: Topic: My link For the title Champion of Avalonia do I have to make a joust against another Knight or is slaying a Werewolf 1 on1 sufficient?
de Gothia Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 Legonardo Davidy: Hehe, that´s one bloody moc! Love the minifigs posing! Looks like Cpt BeerBeard is having a partner in crime? Timura: Great work and I love the angle of the photo! Looks like Albion is impregnable!! mephistopheles : A nice little moc! Love those trees! May have to borrow that technique!
mephistopheles Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Sorry for being needy, but may I be listed along the Guild members? Also I am still waiting for an answer if my Woodward Werewolf encounter is enough for the title Champion of Avalonia, or do I have to build an explicit joust against a knight? Thanks for your time.

Sorry for not replying sooner. I will add your name to the list tomorrow, along with your title for your moc. I may have said a joust scene, but any small moc with a knight defeating a foe will do just fine, so yes it does count. I do hope to post some new challenges soon with some prizes as well.
I Scream Clone Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Presenting the free build scores and running tallies for Guilds of Historica. Kaliphlin is closing the gap! Lets get some more Nocturnus and Mitgardia builds going
mephistopheles Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Well done! But could please somebody update me or provide a link on how free builds and challenge entries are rated? Thanks!
MikeyB Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 well done everyone on the free builds meph, i don't think the scoring criteria has been put out there yet. But don't let that stop you from building! Free Builds are just that Free builds you can build what ever you want. The good thing is that DC has given us motivation for seven builds with the builds on the front page of this thread. Personally, I have been trying to keep my builds centered around my land of Circardia or the capital city of Albion. I try to build in the style of Avalonia and to try new techniques with each build. I also try to present each one as best I can photographically and add a bit of a story. For the builds themselves I have gotten good feedback when I add a few details that add to the overall scene.
Rogue Angel Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I know the scoring is split up into 3 categories, and I think they fall along these general lines (but don't quote me on this) 1: originality, style and overall guild-ishness 2: Building technique 3: Presentation (including photography) I know the criteria has changed as the guild has grown, but there has been talk in the different guild forums at different times about what the builds are judged on. As MikeyB said, the scoring criteria has not been laid out specfically, and the free builds are much more ...free... , So you can build whatever you like.
ZCerberus Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Yeah team! Good work guys! I finally finished this stupid tree that has been plaguing me, so I hope to get back to building whats I build soon!

I think my first MOC for Avalonia, the Werewolf Encounter was a good start. Next I am going for the Lord High Executioner title.
Derfel Cadarn Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Congrats Guildsmen! Your excellent free builds have given us even more points and we are still sitting nicely at the top! Kaliphlin are slowly catching up however, so keep up your great work and lets stay at the top The free builds that have been scored are everything up untill recently, so we hope to score the next lot of free b uilds in a couple of months. Rogueang got it pretty much spot on with the three aspects that we look for when scoring. Mocs are basically scored out of 50, something like this: 1: originality, style and overall guild-ishness - 1-20 points 2: Building technique - 1-20 points 3: Presentation (including photography - 1-10 points So someone might score 17 on the first, 15 on the second and 8 on the last, giving them a score of 40 out of 50. Two people judge each guild, so you all get 2 sets of scores which we average and calculate your final score. So if someone earns a score of 43-50 from one judge and 45-50 from the other, we average it so your final score is 44/50. Do you all follow? After challenge 3 has ended I will be setting some new in-guild challenges. There will also be 3 special in-guild challenges with a special 'parts pack' for the winner. I will make them interesting and challenging for you More on this in the next few days. Keep up the great work guildsmen! I can tell you that no one in the guild has got any lower than 30 points so far, you have all been 30 and above, and I hope that clears up a bit of how things are scored.
Captain BeerBeard Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 All this time I thought we were losing.
Rogue Angel Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Great job everyone! It's nice to see those free builds pay off! All this time I thought we were losing. I think we were in second or third until this round of free builds.
