Jason Cicchini Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Awesome builds, de Gothia, Maydayartist, and Brickdoctor! Avalonia is indeed mighty with your fantastic contributions!
timura Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I am planning to draw a map. Actually i want to make it handmade. So i will refer to the detail of the "landscape of Avalonia" at the first page of he topic and i will put our watchtowers on it if the place of the tower is stated within the creation topic. I will also consider other guilds maps and see if our map is compatible with theirs at the borders at least. I am planning to draw a map. Actually i want to make it handmade. Derfel Cadarn Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Greetings noble guildsmen of Avalonia! You do us all proud and fill our great land with pride. Avalonia is a sacred paradise, a great beacon of light for those who are lost in the dark. We pride ourselves on being a land of justice, peace and prosperity. With a mighty army full of the greatest warriors, unrivaled throughout the world of Historia. A lush green fertile land with mighty stone castles and towers and busy country villages. A land where our people can live safe in the knowing that no enemy spear men will ever come to ravage our lands. It is indeed, a land worth fighting for! So far, we are off to great start, thanks to many excellent builds from our members, Avalonia is already looking to be the dominate land, so lets keep it that way! As many of you know, our guild thread is getting pretty busy and hard to find what is going on. Unfortunately, at the moment I have been told we are not allowed another separate thread. So to make things easier I have updated and changed a few things. To start with, the first post has been updated with all the information. I have added a full list of every member with their name in bold. Below each persons name will be the list of titles they earn along the way, some have already earned titles. The list of the titles and the tasks you need to do to get them are now all written in the very first post. To make it easier, I have scrapped the idea that you need to volunteer someone to do a task. From now on, you may do any task you want from the list. I will check the thread daily and as soon as someone has posted a picture of a completed task I will add their title to their list under their name. This way, anyone can get on and do tasks without trying to find what ones are available. There is also a new update on titles. For each MAIN Challenge, there will be a special title for the member who scores the highest points on their moc for that challenge. So the member who scores the highest points in the Watchtower Challenge will be awarded the title 'Guardian Of The Realm'. Each main challenge will have a special title that only one of you will can earn. There will also be other titles that will be handed out for special reasons. If you wish, you can add the titles you earn to your signature. So what is the reason for earning all these titles? Well at the end of this project, the guildsmen who has earned the most titles under his name will win a large prize, and the runner-up will also receive a smaller prize. Info about the prizes will be added later on. There will be many more prizes in the main guild challenges, these 2 prizes are just for you Avalonians to try and win. So try your best, build and bring our land to life, earn as many titles as you can and above all, have fun doing it! All info can be found at the bottom of the FIRST PAGE. If I have missed anyone's name off the list, please let me know and I will add it straight away. The two prizes will be added soon. Thanks all DC MIGHTY AVALONIA!
de Gothia Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Great summary My Liege!! I present to you all fellow Avalonians my farm Avalonian Farm by de Gothia, on Flickr Avalonian Farm by de Gothia, on Flickr Our Guild is sure growing strongly every day!
robuko Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I have made my introduction a few pages back, but now official. Me and my company "Avalonia Traders" are responsible for the trade between the Guilds, we import precious goods and items, whilst we export high quality wares too. To maintain the safety on the trade routes, our company has a regiment of special trained troops available! Lumber, fish and grain comes from the lands of Mitgardia. The merchants of Kaliphlin provide us with coffee, silk, tobacco and glass. Our company wasn't welcome in Nocturnus, yet some small quantities of enchanted gems are being traded. In Avalonia our company produces farmland goods, fine quality armour and weapons, siege equipment and construction materials. All done by smaller companies! Our company makes sure the lands of Avalonia become, will and remain wealthy, while we crush the enemy's economy, sink their fleets economically, we will become the largest, wealthiest Guild of all. My Dear Captain Blackamoor, We always admire your throughly justified pride in your homeland, although it may take many years of peaceful growth through trade before Avalonia`s riches will match those of Petrea, the Jewel of Kaliphlin. We hope your references to crushing and sinking the economies of other guilds are merely your usual boisterous exuberance. You will find our committment to the defence of free trade to be exceptionally robust if tested. Owing no doubt to the prosperity and peace that reign in the city of Petrea, as well as the wisdom and benevolence of our Guild Leader Dextrus Flagg, our capital`s population is growing rapidly. Kaliphlin`s people would like to increase our mutually beneficial trade to supply the needs of our new citizens. As you know, we value highly the proven quality of Avalonian farm produce, and we are happy to increase substantially our orders of your agricultural produce, especially meats, grains and specialty cheeses. We are also in the market for timber and stone to embellish the glory and beauty of the Kaliphin townships, and we will consider your competitive bids. You will find our credit good, as it always has been. With our respectful best wishes always, Rasputin
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 ~WIP~ Outpost Xax I've been working and would like some feedback so far! It looks complete, but one tree needs more leaves, and I must print out my Avalonia banners. NOTE: These were taking quickly, therefor blurry, the real ones will be better. "But Capt.JohnPaul, it just looks like a skinny tower surrounded by a wooden wall!" "I know, but this is a playable tower, and the interior is very nice. Follow." "The hidden gateway, covered in moss it looks like a normal wall section." "Stairs lead up to the wooden walls, and on each side there is boiling oil or barrels of flammable stuff to roll on the attackers." "But Capt.JohnPaul, how can flaming oil be in a wooden bucket?" "Umm.. Umm... shut up!" "It's metal with wood over it! Wood is an insulator!" "Now for the start of the tower, we have nicely tiled floors and amazing windows were we have archers and crossbowmen shoot out from." "But a crossbow can't shoot through a gold win-" "-They open it! I know!" "As you see, each section leads up to the next layer, this time an archer is there, and a militia swordsman to stop attackers coming up the ladder." "And the commander on his balcony, his room also has wooden bars to look over the land, a chair, and a halberd hanging on the wall, though you can't see in this picture." "Now, the top of the tower, with a crossbowman and a knight, with more oil.... don't say anything! Also, more tiles." "Also note the wooden bars at the bottom, that is part of the commander's room." Thanks for viewing Outpost Xax, and does anyone have any suggestions?
WhiteFang Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 My lord, I am a wanderer and I am passing by your realm. I will be gathering my comrades together. I may not be a good builder but I will do my best to defend this land. Long live Avalonia.
Matn Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 (edited) Great work Derfel Cadarn! I think it was nice to be selected for a new title, but this get things faster done. And the prizes involved are an extra push to build. This whole guild idea is really good for inspiration and it's been a long time ago since I wanted to build so much things, but unfortunately I'm separated from my bricks from Monday until Friday. Man, I can't wait for the weekend and build all these things. The Avalonian entries are really good, great work everyone! I'll comment separately on them some time later. Although I'm away from my bricks until the weekend, I'll try to make a drawn map of Avalonia to contribute to our guild and I'm placing a couple of Bricklink orders to complete my tower. My watchtower is halfway done, but I'm missing some pieces and my collection of grey pieces is not what is used to be (because they are used in other creations). I hope to have it finished soon. Lordofdragonss Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Did I missed something? We ALL build towers now, right? That's great! I have mine almost finished!

There'll be a lot of research to consider and factor in, with everyone involved (especially our guild) rapidly firing out new canon and establishing the lands. If you'd like any assistance at all (research, adding color, legends, etc.) PM me and I will be more than happy to help. Edited November 16, 2011 by Jason Cicchini
Jason Cicchini Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Fellow Guildsmen! A simple plea from the industrious Darwyn Clan: Several other guilds have already set skilled cartographers into the great lands of Historica to map the many trade routes and natural borders between the four great regions, allowing a better understanding of relativity and relation. I prithee, allow a sanctioned group from Avalonia (Myself, Timura, and Matn) to work together and build our own detailed map. Not only will we have a better understanding of our own lands, but how potential alliances and further relations between the nations may benefit our overall success in assuring the peace and prosperity of all. Attached is an example of the work and skill I have to offer. (albeit for another land of my own, Velaria.) My Dear Captain Blackamoor, We always admire your throughly justified pride in your homeland, although it may take many years of peaceful growth through trade before Avalonia`s riches will match those of Petrea, the Jewel of Kaliphlin. I, for one, support such trades, and welcome any Kaliphilians willing to trade to strike up a deal. (Be warned, I have heard they are a savvy and industrious bunch!)
Captain Blackmoor Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Our company is not willing to destroy the other guilds economy, but to take it over. And when a guild turns hostile we simply close the stream of goods. Our company is well supplied in Avalonia and occupies several high productive farms, mines and land, which means the Avalonia Trading Company will last the longest. The goods are stored away in guarded and fortified warehouses so no attempts in destroying goods can be undertaken. On a side note, along one of the trade routes an old watchtower has been rebuilt and will feature the best armaments available in Avalonia. Just to keep the trade routes clear from bandits, wild animals and what not... Pictures are coming soon!

Andonii Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 This is a map made by a Nocturnian, but it's still quite a good map of Historica. I just thought it may be useful for our cartographers.
Derfel Cadarn Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 Greatings Avalonians! Our dominance continues as more and more great mocs are being posted by our guild. We continue to make our statement that we are a force to be reckoned with! The village of Durnovaria is edging nearer to completion. A new watch tower has been added to the village as we continue to fortify our land. Pictures will follow in the next few days. I have also noticed that we still need to name our mighty capital. Suggestions welcome please. Maybe a list of names so everyone can help to agree on a final name. My lord, I am a wanderer and I am passing by your realm. I will be gathering my comrades together. I may not be a good builder but I will do my best to defend this land. Long live Avalonia. You are very welcome, feel free to make yourself at home in our mighty capital. We are glad to have you here. Great work Derfel Cadarn! I think it was nice to be selected for a new title, but this get things faster done. And the prizes involved are an extra push to build. Thankyou, I look forward to seeing your builds. Did I missed something? We ALL build towers now, right? That's great! I have mine almost finished! Yep, the first main challenge is to build a watch tower. You can find the challenge details in their own thread at the top of the forum page. Fellow Guildsmen! A simple plea from the industrious Darwyn Clan: Several other guilds have already set skilled cartographers into the great lands of Historica to map the many trade routes and natural borders between the four great regions, allowing a better understanding of relativity and relation. Also, trade sanctions between the mighty and powerful nations of Avalonia and Kaliphilin has been struck up. I, for one, support such trades, and welcome any Kaliphilians willing to trade to strike up a deal. (Be warned, I have heard they are a savvy and industrious bunch!) This example looks most excellent. I was really hoping there would be someone here who could produce a map like this. If you three can produce a map as good as this for Avalonia then you will each receive the title 'Cartographer Of The Realm'. There is a map that has a pretty good idea of how Avalonia looks, Andonii has shared it with us. You maybe be able to use this as a starting point, and go into more detail. We also have to get some names of the Capital and other places sorted as well. Maybe you could design the map and then add the names as we go. I will leave it in your good hands. We must also keep up the trade with our Kaliphilian friends. Our company is not willing to destroy the other guilds economy, but to take it over. And when a guild turns hostile we simply close the stream of goods. Our company is well supplied in Avalonia and occupies several high productive farms, mines and land, which means the Avalonia Trading Company will last the longest. Just to keep the trade routes clear from bandits, wild animals and what not... Pictures are coming soon! The ATC is indeed a mighty company and must take measures to ensure are goods are not attacked and stolen. Trade is very important throughout the land. For many years now, we have had a good understanding between our friends of Kaliphiln. We do most of our trade with them and we must also protect them in their crossing to our land, in case they are attacked by any nasty Drow creatures. We must always ensure that our friendship and trade with Kaliphiln continues. You are in charge of all trades in Avalonia, we know you will do us proud! This is a map made by a Nocturnian, but it's still quite a good map of Historica. I just thought it may be useful for our cartographers. This has a great depiction of Avalonia, the mystic Isles look just how i thought they would. Im sure our map experts will find this useful when making our own official map.
Brickdoctor Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I have also noticed that we still need to name our mighty capital. Suggestions welcome please. Maybe a list of names so everyone can help to agree on a final name. I think it would be only fitting if the capital of Avalonia was in some way derived from the name 'Camelot'.
Capt.JohnPaul Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I think it would be only fitting if the capital of Avalonia was in some way derived from the name 'Camelot'. Could we eat spam there? Capital ideas: Avalonia, boring though Avalon Rexius Château de l'herbe (Castle of Grass) Ville du blé (Wheat City, coming from our grasslands of course) Anything else we could do?
Fantu Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I´ll give some ideas, but my elven city located in the Enchanted Forest is called Hybrasil. Now the ideas. For now I´ll base them all on the Arthurian legends. I´ll turn bold the ones I like more. Arthuria Morgania Lefay Britannia Calibur Pendragon City/Castle/Keep/Capital Emrys - the name given to Merlin when he born Myrddin - another name for Merlin Arcturia Maerlyn - Merlin´s name as portrait in Dark Tower book Doctoria - Doctor Who was the true Merlin, so let's name our capital in his honor! Legendia Tír na nÓg - Land of the Young - Irish mythology Niamh - Niamh of the Golden Hair - Irish mythology Elysian - Greek mythology Valhallia - Norse mythology Fortunata Valian Aurelia Mount Pythonia Eldorado Shangri-La
Artanis I Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I'll send Nocturnus my first and last offer. The Avalonian Trading Company wishes to trade. You will trade infamous enchanted gemstones, magic scrolls, and magic potions, in exchange you will receive fresh vegetables, livestock and construction materials such as lumber (from Midgard Pine trees) and luxury food. We will not trade high quality weapons or armour to you as we don't trust Nocturnia yet. Burning down valuable trees, not to forget about these spies! If the Nocturnus guild declines, you will be on your own. No goods will be shipped towards Nocturnia at all. And don't forget, Nocturnia can't farm anything of good quality from the burned ground! Cheers to all, perhaps you might get rich on some day! Whatever your capital be named, Arcanis I offers the following message to The Avalonian Trading Company: Diplomatic greetings, Trader. Perhaps some of the other haughty Avalonians have misinformed you - Nocturnus is indeed a harsh environment (it takes a strong body and mind to survive even one day), but most of those in power are not dull-witted: why would we wish to cut off our own limbs by playing an all-out game of political aggression? It is true, there is an over-generalised mind battle among the lesser intelligent over who is greater: the twisted good-for-nothing Nocturniacs with their mindless uncultured minions , or the do-gooder "world police" feeble-bodied feeble-minded Avalonians - but we of higher intelligence know it is only the peons, the commoners, and the vocal few who are so full of themselves and lack diplomacy. You will do well to report back to your countrymen that the mines of Nocturnus produce the building material required to provide all of Historica with the highest quality weapons & armour many times over. We are in no want for that. Rather, it is you who should be seeking it from us. Our dwarf miners & elf craftsmen (but not the Drow, they don't share) are highly skilled in producing goods rivalling that of the North. Our gemstones are indeed a worthy commodity for trade - the lowly appearance of the wooded Avalonia and its quite mundane architecture (in comparison to that seen elsewhere in the land) could well do with some embellishment. The Kaliphlin are very rich, and will pay a high price for our ornamental goods. You will have them to contend with - especially for gold. But if you're prepared to pay the price for the ornate you shall have it. It is a trait of humanity to attempt to make good impressions. We have all the stone we will ever need, however your more diverse woodlands may provide us with timber for more luxurious purposes than our own trees do. As for food, the majority of our, uh, "citizens" have no want or need for the land-produced food of men, but there are definitely those of us in our grand halls (obsidian towers? ) who do enjoy to indulge in the finer tastes. We don't have much in the way of land fit for keeping livestock so perhaps a steady continuous supply of beasts will feed those further from the local seafood market and the wild animals. Regarding accusations of spying, there is no war, the borders are still open. Travellers should be treated as guests, it is a shame that the men of the West do not practice hospitality as well as those of the South. As Nocturniacs highly value research of human psychology for our magic advancements, we do have "undercover agents" gathering information on way-of-life in other cultures. We understand that when their true identity is revealed the circumstances may appear sinister, but it is clear to us that the only way to get a true representation is to be fully "under cover". However, anyone acting aggressively is risking their own skin. The death of a fool is of no loss to Nocturnus. Be sure to pass word on to your countrymen. The Nocturnus borders are open, but be aware that there are many hungry creatures that know nothing of diplomacy nor communication of any kind, and many rogue tribes have no regard for law. Safe passage can be arranged for the right price. Be warned, not all in Nocturnus share the same sentiment regarding trade with the West - each case will be very different, and I do not speak for all in power.
KotZ Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I'm still a little confused, Derfel. Am I able to take part in any title "mission" or do I have to wait for somebody to name me? I'd love to work my way up, but I don't know how!
Savage Sebstian Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 For the capital may I suggest: Okarimi, Chiscaba, or Halleon city
Viceroy Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I'm a full blooded Mitgardian but heres a couple of suggestions; Westmarch or Westguard.... as you're in the West. Clever ay? A few others: Kingsreach, Lordshaven.
Brickdoctor Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Lordshaven. For some reason when I first saw this, instead of "Lords' Haven", I read "Lord Shaven".
Fred Daniel Yam Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Names for our grand capital? How about: Arcadia Artorius (named after our ruler) Flerde Dacarn? Tarobrin? I also had our finest smith forge swords for our warriors. Embued with magics from our Wizard and a blade of Chaos Blacksteel with a tip of Golden Unicorn Horn. These swords will serve you well.
