Accurater, right?

Is that a word .

It looks better but the guns are still too far apart and too big, but painting the piece would improve it more.

That isn't quite what I was getting at (though that piece does look better painted). Here, I'll demonstrate with pictures...

Here's a front view of Eric W.'s MOC:

Compare this with the stock photo of the studio model Hollander found, and a few more:

The cockpit ball needs to be more pronounced.

Oops, more accurate is what I meant to say.. I really should work on my grammar...

I guess I understand. :classic: Anyway; I would never paint any piece myself, but it would be neat if TLG produces it that way.

Looking at the front view against the stock reference photo, I would say that the chin-mounted cannons look the right distance apart (though they do seem too big - perhaps lightsaber hilts or 3L bars would work better). The issue is that they should be where those 1x2 inverted 45 slopes are now - there's need of another layer of parts above and below the windscreen piece.

Correct me if wrong, but I believe this picture shows the studio model.

I think you're right Angel, about the cockpit being somewhat too large. I think the problem is that the SPUD canopy piece is still transparant outward the printed area.

I'll try to express my images through this (really bad) photoshop editting.

I never looked at them back to back like that and I see the point you guys are making about the size of the cockpit ball. Makes me want to go back and revise it. By the way, I like how you photoshopped some grey color into that windscreen piece (is that what you are referring to as a SPUD? What does that mean?). I think all I really need to do is add some plates to the top to rise it up a bit. The bottom seems ok. Right?

Now that I think of it, It will probably be easier to pull of a more accurate cocpit ball with the new windscreen dome piece coming in the 2012 TIE fighter set. That way you can add the cannons in any position you want and also not rely on the connection areas of the older style piece, which for me makes it harder to build a sphere.

Hey, Eric! Welcome to the Forums, man. As I said on Mocpages, this is one of the best minifig-scale TIE Advanced mocs I've ever seen! Can't wait to see what you do next. :sweet:

Hey whats up Moody! Thanks for the feedback my brotha! Yeah as stated before I'm going to do the TIE/ad "avenger" in this style. Just have to make sure I get that cockpit ball accuracy figured out!

Ahhh, THANKS for clarifying that for me! That part is pretty annoying if you ask me... I was hesitant to like the newer printing on the dome canopy in the upcoming set but now I like it.

Yes, if you would manage to put some plates on the right places around the SPUD, that would be awesome! :sweet: But probably hard to make it all smooth, but I'm sure you can fix something.

I will work on that! Thanks for the constructive criticism!!!

Darth Vaders TIE fighter has always been one of my favourite Star Wars ships, and this really does it justice! my favourtite part is the use of the Alien Conquest guns as part of the cockpit - at least I think it's that part? the details and textures on the outer panels is also a highlight for me. Great work!!

You're going to want to put another 4-wide dish on the bottom to finish off the ball, but basically, yes. While you're at it, you may also want to add in some of the machinery visible through the lower portion of the viewport.

You noticed that... Yes they are ADU guns! I can't remember why I thought they would make cool arm rests though... It works relly well it seems! Thanks for the comment! :classic:
