AkumaMax Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Sorry for the Vague title. I have been playing around in LDD for a little bit and have managed to come up with a very very large hull for a ship that I would like to create. I just find it very hard to find pieces for my ship that I would be able to purchase. What I am trying to do is make everything on my ship be able to get purchased(already at $86 for the hull base) Anyway. I was just wondering if anyone else has tried to do this with the same premise and if so did you succeed? I am working on a non purchaseable ship as well but think it would be more cool to build something brick for brick. It's just very frustrating that LDD is so limited! Quote
Corweena Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 First off, did you unlock LDD extended mode? If not, do it here.... That should unlock quite a few more parts for you, if you haven't done it yet. Also, if you decide to purchase bricks to build the ship, it will most likely be cheaper to order them in bulk from Bricklink. Quote

The only problem I have is that I am trying to build a ship that has all parts that can be bought from lego. I just hate that you can't purchase a boats hull from lego I hate that message telling me well if you add this you can not find out how much the ship will cost! Quote
Captain Becker Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 The LDD Prices are so ridiculos. I would say, make the model of the ship and the order the parts from Bricklink. LDD prices are just ridiculos. Baptain Becker Quote
Skipper Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) I agree with Captain Becker, ordering with Bricklink should be much more cost-effective. See here: You may have seen my frigate, this is one of the earlier renditions of it when I was trying to make it orderable from LEGO. Under 2000 pieces, $350 USD. If you still want to order from LEGO but keep the cost down, I suggest at least buying just the hull pieces from Bricklink, $86 just for the base is a lot. Just build it with the hull sections on LDD and delete them before you check price/order. The ship in the pictures above is built to fit around the prefabs. Hope that helps.
