Rumble Strike Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 The noise intensifies as Sarick gets a little bit nearer, although he does not want to travel too far out of the range of the torch. It's a kind of slithering sound, that is echoing around. Guts finds that the gemstones come off easily, taking no real effort to pry out. They were clearly meant to be moved around on the face of the door. Does he still wish to take them?
Darth Nihilus Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Dak replaces the gems, arranging them into the pattern of the rainbow, then steps back to wait and see what happens. OOC: Dak should only have 2 Venoms.
Scubacarrot Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Guts would like to take the gems, and take a closer look at them.
Chromeknight Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Well done on spotting that gold Guts, you have a rogue's eye for that sort of thing. Are you keeping it or sharing it, just so I know for later. Is everyone ready for battle? Venomed weapons, healed up? Speak up now. It's a slithery sound you say Sarick? Yes I can hear it too. Perhaps we should leave the door be for the moment?
Rumble Strike Posted December 10, 2011 Author Posted December 10, 2011 Guts sees that the gems are intricately connected with the door in some way, and shouldn't really be taken away from it, or it will never open. QM Note - I do have a pic of the door so you will see what I mean, but I need the party to either all be at the door, or all investigating the noise. Only the one torch, you see. So it will have to be a majority decision. So far we have 3 votes to investigate the slithering noise. Dak, venom fixed. For the shovel, I am rolling the die, it's just that Guts is very lucky with it!
Chromeknight Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 "Knifk think should look at noise." Nerwen pokes Gorg. Either he decides for the door and it will be my call to break the tie, or he will decide for the noise. Either way, stop fiddling with the shiny gems you rogues. Are you ready for battle? Come on Sorrow, bring the torch, let us go.
Scubacarrot Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Guts nodded at Nerwen, he was ready to go after whatever was out there, but not before digging with his shovel! Ooc: The gold I dug up will be shared, ok?
Rumble Strike Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 Guts digs around with his shovel, but this time finds nothing of value. The party head towards the right of the cavern (they had entered it from the left), with Sorrow holding up the torch. The ground underenath the right hand side of the cavern is wetter, and sounds of running water can be heard coming from a large crack in the wall in the right hand side. The party are investigating this large crack when the slithering noise rushes at them, along with a gigantic snapping jaw - there is a monster roaming the mine! The huge crocodile lumbers through the crack and into the cavern, its eyes gleaming with brutish intent (but not the same evil glow as the possessed vermin and skeletons). The torchlight shows its armoured, scaly hide and thick foreclaws. It positions itself for an attack at the party. Prepare for battle! Enemy: Giant Crocodile Type: Aquatic Monster Level: 5 Health: 180/180 Specials: Tail Whip – The crocodile swings its massive tail around, catching the attacker and Stunning them. Jaws of death - The crocodile captures the attacker in its jaws. They will remain there until the crocodile is killed or another party member pulls them free, sacrificing their own turn to do so. The jaws are very big so up to 3 party members can get trapped at the same time. Note: The special skill has a 50/50 chance of being triggered each time Special Damage is rolled. Scubacarrot Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 "Slight problem. Let's kill it." Guts took his cutlass out of its sheath with care, and moved into position to attack the Giant Crocodile from the front row.
Darth Nihilus Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 "SLIGHT?! Guts, I think you might be seeing the wrong monster! Ah well, I'll attack the monster with my knife from the front row."
Lordofdragonss Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Gorg pokes the beast aiming in his eye from the front row"Let's crack this crock!
Bioniclover Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Knifk roars a challenge to the scaly monstrosity, then charges the croc from thefront row, slashing at its fleshy tongue with his katana.
Xarrzan Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 "There are a lot of reptilesss in these minesss. I shall attack the Giant Crocodile from the back row with my frost magic."

Battle order Knifk Gorg Dak Guts Nerwen Sarick From the front row, Nerwen uses her hammer on the beast's leg, aiming to cripple it. Sarick, the beast is not vulnerable to your magic, so save your ether. But do not use the staff, we do not want it healed! Knifk, Dak, Move left, Gorg, Guts, right. I think the beast will find it easy moving both directions at once.
Rumble Strike Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 QM Note - I've gone with Sarick's initial attack rather than Nerwen's recommendation for him as I wanted to get a round done before I went to bed. I hope this is OK. Knifk is up first, as ever, and with his shield held high protects the party from damage next turn. Gorg follows his Orc comrade, taking a run at the eye of the croc, hoping to blind the beast. Unfortunately for the Barbarian, the giant crocodile scoops him up in his jaws, which slam shut like a drawbridge being pulled up. Gorg is eaten trapped! Dak aims at the croc with his poisoned knife, hoping it would penetrate the scaly hide, but the young Rogue is stopped by a vicious claw strike to his legs (5 damage). Guts is up next, cool as you like with his cutlass, he slashes the croc across the snout (13 damage). Nerwen tries to smash the croc with her hammer, but takes a wilder swing than usual and manages to miss the creature completely. Sarick readies an attack with his trusty frost magics, but the croc is surprisingly fast, dashing between the heroes and ramming the Naga (3 damage). The battle continues! Bioniclover Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Knifk holds his shield high, backing away from the crocodilian warily, ready to intercept any strikes it might attempt. Shield still raised, he once again slashes at it with his katana from the front row.
Darth Nihilus Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 "AGHHH! My legs!" Dak, hellbent on revenge, hobbles forward and stabs at the crocodile's legs from the back row.

Turns out this party leading business is going to her head a little. It'll be interesting if she ever gets someone badly hurt, she'll take it personal. I'll make it clear if the party leader is choosing for an unresponsive player. I assume Gorg will get an action if he's pulled free of the croc's mouth? Ooof. Good strike Guts! Knifk, keep that shield up! I'm going to get Gorg. Keep hitting it! Dak. you will be ok? Give a shout if you take another hit like that! Lordofdragonss Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 (edited) Gorg was confused for a while- he don't now what happened, but when he noticed that he is IN the beast he starts to hit Crocodile with his dragon bone (from the front row) with hope this do any damage. Edited December 12, 2011 by Lordofdragonss
Xarrzan Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 Sarick hissed from the crocodile's attack. "I shall attack the Giant Crocodile from the front row with my Mockthril Staff."
Scubacarrot Posted December 12, 2011 Posted December 12, 2011 "Enough is enough! I have had it with this megablocking lizard in this megablocking mine!" Once again, Guts stepped forward to attack the beast from the front row.
Rumble Strike Posted December 12, 2011 Author Posted December 12, 2011 QM Note - Initially I was thinking that the trapped person would also not have a turn but that would be a big drain on the party's potential damage output against a foe with such high health to begin with, so I will allow the trapped player to have an attack. Also for this battle I will assume Dak fights in the front row as Nerwen said, because of the Sentinel effect this round. Perhaps I should be recording that as a status effect for the party when it happens, just to make it clear. I'm not sure any of the other QMs currently do this? Results of Round Two of the Giant Crocodile battle Knifk vs Giant Crocodile = Hit Nerwen rescues Gorg Guts vs Giant Crocodile = Shield (Mug) Gorg vs Giant Crocodile = Extra Critical Hit Dak vs Giant Crocodile = Damage Sarick vs Giant Crocodile = Damage The party continue to battle the behemoth lizard in front of them. Knifk starts the assault well, clipping the crocodile smartly with his new katana (9 damage). With the giant beast distracted by Knifk's hit, Nerwen courageously runs up to the croc and pulls Gorg free of its fearsome jaws. Guts' amazing streak continues as he dives down and runs his cutlass along the underbelly of the croc for high damage (17 damage). Strangely 17 gold pieces fall from the croc, perhaps caught in its scales as it shuffled along the mine's tunnels. Gorg, wet through with crocodile saliva and hopping mad because of it, stabs the huge creature several times in the foot with his spear (16 damage). Both Dak and Sarick try to press the attack, but face a barrage of slashing claws. Knifk acrobatically jumps in front of these blows and deflects them with his new Mockthril shield, giving the two a goofy thumbs up afterwards. The battle continues!
