Scubacarrot Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Guts turns his head to Gorg, the barbarian. He had an idea to get the sword, it might just work... "Gorg, can you smash the statue's arm?"
Xarrzan Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 While Guts and Gorg worked on the statue to the right of the tomb, Sarick slithered over to the other. He searched the rubble to left of the tomb, specifically searching for the missing yellow stone that he believed was within the rubble. If the right side had two yellow stones, it was safe to assume the left side did as well.
Rumble Strike Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 Sarick does not find any yellow stones in the rubble. QM Note - Good eye though, looking at all the details, I like it.
Chromeknight Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Sarick does not find any yellow stones in the rubble. QM Note - Good eye though, looking at all the details, I like it. Looking again at the tomb, Nerwen thinks it looks like a face from certain angles. And there seems to be a box or something, on the face's forhead. Nerwen moves to the tomb to see if it is a box something and to remove it if possible
Rumble Strike Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 QM Note - There is no face on the tomb. The 'box' is just detailing. Although none of you have actually tried to open the tomb itself, there is a specific action you will need to do before it will open. Look at the picture again and see what it may be. Smashing things isn't really necessary.
Scubacarrot Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Ooc: I think I know the specific action you mean, but I want loot first :P Guts tries digging with his shovel.
Darth Nihilus Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Dak thinks for a while, then jumps up. Without a word he crosses the tomb and clears away the rubble, searching for the headless statue's head.
Lordofdragonss Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 "Guts! Gorg will help Guts!"- Shouted Gorg and started digging with is pickaxe near tomb.
Xarrzan Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 After not finding any yellow stone or hidden loot in the rubble, Sarick decided to slither to the entrance of the tomb. He kept a lookout for any danger from the path they had already travelled and watched the other Heroes' flurry of activity.
Rumble Strike Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 Guts dig into the floor of the tomb with his shovel, looking for gold, but there wasn't any. Dak and Gorg try to find the head of the statue in the rubble of the rockslide but don't have any luck. It may have been smashed beyond recognition during the cave-in.
Xarrzan Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 "The statue on the right hasss one arm up with a sword in its hand and another arm down. The statue on the left has one arm up, empty, and one arm down. Knifk, could you place your new sword into the hand of the statue to the left? I'd rather not give it a weapon but it'sss my only idea right now."
Darth Nihilus Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 "The statue on the right hasss one arm up with a sword in its hand and another arm down. The statue on the left has one arm up, empty, and one arm down. Knifk, could you place your new sword into the hand of the statue to the left? I'd rather not give it a weapon but it'sss my only idea right now." "If the two statues have to be the same for the mechanism to work, wouldn't both have to have a head? Maybe we need to take this." Dak yanks the box off of the tomb.
Rumble Strike Posted December 16, 2011 Author Posted December 16, 2011 Dak tries to rip the 'box' off the top of the tomb but his feeble half-Elf arms are too weak to do that. Sarick takes the Tfel Blade from Knifk and places it in the raised hand of the headless statue. Knifk (played by Bioniclover) Level 6 Knight Power: 11 Health: 9/15 Gold: 5 Inventory: Tfel Blade (Sabre, WP:5) (Quest item), Mockthril Katana (Greatsword, WP:4) Equipped, Mockthril Shield (SP: 4), Morning Star (WP:3), Wyrm Shield (SP:2), Potion, Venom After a few seconds a loud scraping noise echoes around the cavern, and the top of the coffin falls away with a crash. Haroka's tomb is open! Inside the coffin lies a giant of a man, with strange, pale skin, wearing an ancient warriors helmet. He is unmoving. Making a decision, Sorrow runs to the resting place, dark magics swirling around her as she mouths an incantation: Bal'eth'tor cirfernium Jozath sa cremorium Qwetkith vo influminum Energy flows from the mystic into the fallen General. Haroka lives again! The two embrace as Sorrow's tears run down her face. What will the party do?
Xarrzan Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 While the two embrace, Sarick slithers over to the left statue and takes the sword back. "I'm just going to take thisss back. You'll be fine without it." Sarick gives the sword back to Knifk.

Haroka lives again! The two embrace as Sorrow's tears run down her face. What will the party do? Nerwen shouts in orcish, trusting that the others will pick up the intent from the response of the greenskins Beware! Ready yourselves! A foe is among us! To Sorrow she says Explain yourself! Or are you enthralled by power beyond you? Nerwen hefts her hammer and readies herself for the general's words.
Rumble Strike Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Sarick tries to prise the sabre from the hands of statue, but now it is stuck fast and he cannot move it. Haroka wipes the tears from Sorrows face. He speaks to her in a low, rumbling voice "Sorona, you came back for me... after all I did to you?" "Once the tomb was open, I couldn't leave you there. I wanted us to be together again. I used these heroes to help find you." "Heroes? Did they know what they were getting into?" "Some were suspicious. The Rogue, Guts, in particular." "Maybe he would join us?" "Perhaps. I think he would be useful to us, he is resourceful and has a knack for finding gold. Do you... do you still have the Darkstar?" "Oh, Sorona, always looking for an angle. Yes, the Darkstar is safely in my possession. Even now, its power is helping to sustain me, as it powered the vermin in this mine. All that remains now is for us to leave this place. I am still weary from my resurrection and have no real desire to fight, especially as these heroes helped you, albeit unwittingly. What say you all? Will you heroes let us leave? You have gained much in this Quest, and I see no need for futher bloodshed. Everyone walks away with their dignity and honour intact. You, Guts, you may come with us if you wish. I'm sure you could learn a lot from us."
Scubacarrot Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Guts thought deeply about what just happened, they were lied to, that much was clear. He had been right, it gave the rogue a slight feeling of amusement. Sorrow, or Sorona, as she was called by the giant man, did not want to bring the Darkstar to the Ziegfrieds, nor was she working for them. Instead, the Darkstar... sustained? this man? Guts was'nt a fan of necromancy, but he did'nt have anything against it either. Ennoc, with it's crusades against the undead could fall from the heavens, for all he cared. Fact was, that the power of the Darkstar was bringing harm to the village, and it would likely harm everyone and everything that would be in its vicinity. Letting Sorona and the man... general Haroka.. go, would be risky, what if everywhere they went, the same thing would happen as in this mining village? Haroka and Sorona... they seemed to have something together, Guts could respect that, Sorrow obviously went through a lot to get to this point, but what if it was just about the gem? the Darkstar? The general... In life he had been a tyrant, a conqueror. He had been powerful thanks to the Darkstar, the very same he had on him now. Resurrected, what would stop him from doing it all again? Perhaps the most curious thing of all was that the couple had offered the rogue to join them, and the rest of the party to walk away. They had offered him the chance to 'learn'. Guts had no intention of learning magic, so what would it be... These thought clouded the mind of the man with the headwrap, it was a dilemma, Guts did'nt mind letting Sorona and Haroka walk away, but not with the Darkstar. Finally, Guts decided to confront the couple. He chose his words carefully, as it was obvious they were dealing with powerful people. "What is it, what you plan to do, if we let you go? Also, I recall we were offered a reward, I assume we will still receive it?" After a few seconds of silence, Guts added: "What will become of the village outside? They are innocent, except in that they dug too deeply, and perhaps greedily, and breeched your tomb, Haroka."
Darth Nihilus Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Dak listens to the conversations in the room with amusement. He chuckles under his breath, a cold, hard sound that echoes around the room. He stands up, and suddenly seems very large. When he finally speaks, it is not as afraid, insecure Dak Nikolus, but instead as his true self, Dak Shadeaux. "You expect us to let you leave, after you've been tricking us all this time? If you do, you are as weak as your emotions seem. Ah, how I've wanted to reveal my true self to you, but I restrained myself. Time in prison allowed me to learn to control my emotions. How I have lied to you all, it makes me very pleased with myself. Only one of our number ever suspected me for what I truly was, and that was Guts. Although even he didn't realize the level of my deceit. You thought I was weak, that I even cared for you! I am a Rogue. My fellows don't care about anyone besides themselves, yet you believed that I was different. If I had come to Heroica to care, I would have learned to be a Knight instead, or a Ranger. But that would be denouncing my heritage. But enough of me. I ask again, Sorrow and Haroka, do you expect us to let you go willingly?"
Rumble Strike Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 Haroka addresses Guts' questions first: "You want to protect this village? I can understand that. The power of the Darkstar has corrupted it, tainted it, even as it sustained me for centuries. Sorona and I (and Guts, if he so wishes) will go far away, taking the Darkstar with us. The village and its inhabitants will be saved. This I promise you on my honour as a General." "You wouldn't get the financial reward from the Ziegfrieds, but I'm sure that between us myself and Haroka would be able to bestow you with more power (OOC: you would still get a level increase each)..." "...and there are treasures within my tomb that I was buried with, I'm sure a few of them would be worth almost what the reward would be." Haroka then loomed over Dak. "I expect you heroes to consider what your best options would be. You really don't need to fight us."
Scubacarrot Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Guts sighed at Dak, he shaked his head and said: "What is this? An actor's convention?" He spat on the floor in front of Dak, and continued: "You and I have diferent definitions of a 'rogue'. It is about getting the job done, in any way, sure, that is the philosophy of the classic rogue. But if you are just here for personal gain, maybe you should join a gang, instead of Heroica." Turning his head back to the general, Guts said: "I can not help but notice that you have not fully answered my question, general. What do you plan to do now? And were would we go, if I would join you?"
Rumble Strike Posted December 17, 2011 Author Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) "We would look to leave Uland, and go southwards to Miranda or West to Drandora. I would like to once again feel the sun on my face and the wind through my hair. You would learn much from myself and Sorona, we have lived through such times as you could only dream of. But I also feel we would learn from you. You would be the first of my new army, then later a leader of men, perhaps even a General." Edited December 17, 2011 by Rumble Strike
Darth Nihilus Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 "Ha! I admit, my revelation earlier in the mine was a tad.....untasteful, but necessary for my ruse to work. Always the sarcastic one, am I correct, Guts? Time running from the guards hasn't changed your ways at all, I see. And though we find the definition of Rogue differently, you and I seem to have similar experiences in the past. Both in prison, both running from someone or other, both forced into Heroica by a stupid meddler. And, on one point at least, you are wrong. I did not join Heroica for personal gain. I joined it to stay alive, and once you join, there's no way out. My captor knew that, and made sure to gloat over it when I was brought at spearpoint to Eubric. I don't have a way out, and until I find one, I'm stuck doing honorable things, probably until the day I die." Suddenly, Dak seems to deflate, and once again looks normal, or as normal as he can be. "Sorry about that. I was in prison for years, you see, and the awful things that happened in that place created something....else inside my mind. Every once in a while, when I'm feeling exceptionally suprised or afraid, he breaks through and takes over. I hope he didn't say anything to offend any of you, I really can't control him. Maybe that side of me will go away later in my life, but for now I'm stuck with him. Since he didn't show up during the entire Quest, I hoped he had gone. As is obvious, he hasn't. If he comes back again, just don't listen. I hope you can forgive me for anything offensive he said. By the way, Guts, I hope you don't listen to Haroka or Sorrow/Sorona, it wouldn't be the same in the Hall without you."
Chromeknight Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 (edited) Turning his head back to the general, Guts said: "I can not help but notice that you have not fully answered my question, general. What do you plan to do now? And were would we go, if I would join you?" As Guts was standing slightly in front of her, she noticed the hand he had behind his back was signaling 'watch'. At least that is how Nerwen read it. She had learnt of Eubrician street sign only very recently and only new a few. Watch could mean look or it could mean town watch- the guards lead by the pompous Captain. Either way Guts was clearly working on something. She wasn't sure she fully trusted the rogue, but the words they had spoken eariler, after Gut's outburst at Sorrow helped Nerwen understand some of his plan. She would see which way he went. Speaking to the general she said. Perhaps you might show us this treasure as a measure of your trustworthness. Sorona has not been the model of honesty, so you understand some... reluctance. And besides, we met an crocodile with a belly full of gold, maybe it's been eaten up. Edited December 17, 2011 by Chromeknight
Xarrzan Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Sarick tugged as hard as he could but was still unable to remove the sword. "Maybe this wasn't such a great idea" he thought to himself. Since he couldn't return the sword he decided to pile up the surrounding rubble in front of the left statue. If the conversations turned hostile, this statue might come alive and start swinging that sword. Sarick hoped the rubble would delay the statue for a turn or two.
Darth Nihilus Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 OOC: I will use red for the 'evil' personality. Dak went to help Sarick, but suddenly stopped dead. Pain twisted the young man's features, and suddenly, his normally nervous expression turned to a sneer. "That rubble won't stop anything, Naga." Dak's face once again becomes his own, and he says,"He's trying to take over my mind!" His face once again twists into a sneer, and he speaks again. "And I will take over, too. You can't stop me." Dak's expression once again switches. "He's becoming too powerful! I need to do something about him once and for all!" "Ha! Take care of me? I'm you, so you might as well kill yourself if you want to get rid of me!"
