-zenn Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I had the thought of joining this contest for two reasons; never made a vignette before and I'm diggin' the masked vigilante... The vignette itself is a landing pad section of a near future batcave. I really wanted to incorporate the batlogo in it somehow (like the over the top Batman & Robin movie batcave), so it extends 1 stud from the base. The hoverbike was mostly made because I just love to build hoverbikes, although the windscreen is a little hommage to the 60's batcycle. The vignette needed some color, it looked to plain, so decided to incoporate some badguys as well... Don't know if they actually occupied the batcave before, but seemed like a interesting twist. Nightwing; a hoverbike inspired by 'The Dark Knight' and 'Batman Beyond'. Flickr Gallery Comments and critisiscm welcome. Quote
gcanik Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Love the hoverbike though I don't know about the harpoon pieces sticking up from the back, seems a little odd in the choice of piece. The base is really well done with the crosshatch effect of the vent tiles and the bat logo is the best piece/design I have seen in something so small. Quote
De Sandman Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) I like this, espessially the bats in the sides of the vignette. All those new lego's are very cool, very cool parts and stuff, i love the batman theme , makes me want to have batman sets , i primairyly only have old lego's (aproxymately till 1995) and a few new sets... XimenaPaulina Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 The Hoverbike = Showmanship of your signature hoverbike artistry The brickbuilt Batman cut-out logo = Pure Genius. Quote
-zenn Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) Thanks all, nice to see you like it. The logo took me a while to make though. It started out by overlaying a logo print out with cheese slopes at first, wanted to do it mosaic style. It lacked the curves and futuresque feel to it, so gave it a few other shots... ended with this one. Not completely satisfied with it, 'cause of the headlight bricks at the sides, but couldn't come up with another solution for it. Edited November 17, 2011 by -zenn Quote
Miss Kyle Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Amazing work with the logo there! So simple and yet so effective. I am very impressed! Love the hoverbike, too - I was just a bit mislead by the name "Nightwing" and though I'd see him on the bike :D Quote
Cutty Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I like the vehicle and the figure very much! That hoverbike looks both outlandish and useful while remaining entirely believable in form and design. To me it appears like a Batwing's equivalent to the infamous Batpod-vehicle as a former part of the Tumbler. So I would entirely expect for Batman to eject a damaged Batwing on a vehicle like the one you designed. Good stuff! That UFO-armour piece fits Batman perfectly. To be honest? I had a very similar combination in my hands only mere days ago, yet I squeezed the cape under that armour to avoid the looks of cloth blowing in the wind. With that fine hoverbike as a ride however, that is most likely a desired effect and doesn't look out of place, which would be the case for a standing figure (well, unless you were implying wind anyway...). I like the creation! Be well all! Cutty Quote
Oky Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 You really gotta start thinking outside the hoverbike, zenn. It's getting old. Just kidding. Besides the misleading title, this is pretty cool. The bike looks nice as usual, and I really like the Bat logos on the sides of the vig. My only problem with it is that the bike looks pretty much just like your other hoverbikes. It's missing some kind of bat element to it. Also, I'm afraid that you are violating the no-overhang rule. The villains aren't even on the base, and Mr. Freeze seems to overhang the base by at least twice the amount of allowed overhang. If you get rid of the villains, you should be fine. Good luck! Quote
-zenn Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) @ Miss Kyle > Had some name variations with wing, bat, night etc. But this one suited the best. Nightwing takes Batman's role/identity in of dc's alter earth comic's if I'm not mistaken. @ Cutty > I like that 'ejection' idea, very kewl. I did the same thing, but it folds up on itself at the back and gets all wrinkled and stuff. So the second best was this. @ Oky > Haha, can't resist to build them... Well, I actually used some cut bat-a-rang's to fill up the gaps in the wings, but didn't look right cause of the tilted angles. Totally forgot about the figs counting as overhang. Might have to take some new pic's then. Edited November 17, 2011 by -zenn Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 '-zenn' this is the work of a genius and artist ! I the bike design and brick-built Batman logo.....an even bigger ! Good luck in the contest, I know where my vote will be going...this it totally AWESOME....but a question, which set does the windscreen come from ? Bat-brick On '-zenn' same Bat-time same Bat-channel ! Quote
halomaster96 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 That looks amazing. The batlogos on the sides really puts it above and beyond. Well done! Quote
E.Nygma Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 This blew my mind as I came in here expecting somthing related to Nightwing (Dick Grayson). Quote
Ceroknight Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I was also expecting a Nightwing Nightwing vignette, but I was pleasantly surprised! Looks really cool! Quote
Andonii Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) I love the hover bike. It's great. And is it just my eyes or has that photo been deliberately taken to look like the hover bike is actually hovering? Edited November 19, 2011 by Andonii Quote
The Penguin Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 That is awesome entry! Especially I like the custom villains! Very well done! Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
badboytje88 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 That is awesome entry! Especially I like the custom villains! Very well done! Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) I have to agree with you Penguin. Although the hoverbike is great, the custom villains are what makes this creation awesome. Now I'm going to have to buy some of those tranny skulls... Quote
Vimes Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I'm not a big fan of an alternate Batman setting (like BOTF), but your MOC is totally cool and within your chosen context very well done. Quote
