Dude, next year is gonna be expensive.

Swamp-monster [at least one copy, maybe more for multiple Deep Ones], whatever "The Zombies" is [again, likely more than once], and the Hearse are 100% locks. That fencing Bowler-hat dude is boss.

The Werewolf set is... interesting, I guess? I sorta like the new head, although I think I prefer the more streamlined Wolfman look, but the use of the Wolverine claws is interesting. Dracula's Castle and the Ghost Train are both nice, but probably beyond my price range [i seldom get expensive sets].

And then the Mummy Chariot and Frankenstein Lab are both sorta bleh. But it's good to have stuff you don't want, to make the stuff you do want more exciting.

Looks like there's a few Thor hammers kickin' around in there too.

Looks like this is gonna be set up the same as Atlantis and Ninjago and the others, with collectible coloured parts or whatever. Each set has a triangle or figure [it's hard to make out] and the castle has all of them arranged on the one tower.

The skeleton horse mold is not new. They were the steeds for the skeleton army for the "Castle" theme in 2007/2008. Example:

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7092-1

The glow in the dark aspect is new though. I don't think I have any glow in the dark stuff in my collection.

Ah, OK. I never collected the old HP stuff, but I'm sure I've seen that pic of Hogwarts. I guess it stuck in my mind, and I subconsciously remembered it, but didn't realize it. I wish the newer HP sets still had them. Oh well.

Back on topic, I find it hard to pinpoint an era that these are in. The werewolf and Frankenstien sets seem from an earlier time, while the Dracula sets seem more in the 50s/60s area. It's all over the place, but somehow it works for me.

Ooh, Adventurers meet Studios!

There's even elements for a castle-fan such as me, not to mention all those fantastic monsters that will fit right into Heroica RPG, so this theme is a definite must buy for me!

Let's see... Kingdoms Jousting, some City sets, most of the Friends sets, selected Ninjago sets, as many LotR as possible, and now this... Yup, definitely going to be an expensive year ahead!

Yep it was a cropped out version of this:

There is also a picture of its mask:

Clone, I'm the one who brought those to Brickipedia in the first place. Stop taking credit for everything. :hmpf:

I found these in an old EB thread posted back in June '10...I'll find it in a bit.

EDIT: Found thread. This is how I ended up posting them on Bricki..here.

Wow, do I like this theme! I agree with Oky that it looks like a mash-up of Time Twisters, Adventurers and Studios. Hooray! I do disagree with one other point, though...

No, because there is no point in designing a new Dr. Frankenstein/Monster/Mummy/Vampire when they already made very good ones recently.

As I said, I don't think they're preliminary because all the other figs use new molds and prints and therefore look pretty final, so it would be a strange coincidence if it were only the figs that are similar to the CMFs that are preliminary stand-ins, don't you think? :sceptic:

But Pharaohs Quest has its own mummies, out contemporaneously with the Series 3 mummy.

If this series did reuse the Minifigures monsters, it'd be the first time any of the minifigures reappeared in their exact form in a "regular" set (as opposed to "extended line" stuff like the calendar). I mean, sure, I don't profess to know everything that TLG's going to do, but to me it doesn't seem like them to want to reuse any of the "CMFs" for a theme, even when they'll fit in perfectly (by "reuse" here, I mean using the figures exactly as they appear in the Minifigures line, with the same exact prints and all; I obviously do expect to see them reuse the same core ideas, such as vampire minifigures, mummy minifigures, etc.).

Is that a new ghost??

VERY glad to hear about a Zombies set! I've been hoping they'd do more zombies in the Minifigures line so that I could have a slew of them without using the same one over and over. Like Oky, I too hope they include female zombies.

Your post also reminds me of some talk about how Lego CMF ideas sometimes hint toward upcoming themes and ideas.

I keep looking at that skeleton horse on the mummy set and thinking that perhaps the mold was going to be used in a Harry Potter set, but maybe the idea got scrapped late in the game. Of course it would be molded in black and with wings added.

Actually, in 2007, there was this-Lego-harry-potter-5378-harry-potter-castle.jpg.jpeg

See what's next to Hagrid?

Mods, remove this post. Typed wrong thing after realizing what he meant..

A vampire's castle-slash-haunted house has long been on my wish list for TLG, either as part of a Castle line or some kind of licensed theme. And here we are!

These photos are clearly preliminary. If you look at the corner of 9462, the mummy chariot, you can see the CMF mummy wielding a sword with the words "The Cursed --" The bottom word is covered by the watermark. The Cursed what? Horseman? Driver? It doesn't say anything about a "mummy."

The CMF mummy is just a stand-in. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual figure ends up as a pumpkin-headed Headless Horseman type of monster.

Overall I absolutely love the Hammer Horror vibe, with the '60s hot-rod vehicles. I think we can look forward to some shagadelic monster fighter minifigs.

I like this from a "hey that looks fun" perspective, but can't see myself buying any of it except the Creature from the Black Lagoon dude unless it's heavily discounted. It is good to see them releasing an off-the-wall theme like this though.

TLC won't simply rerelease its own collectable minifigures in a regular theme. And if they'd do that I'll eat a broomstick whole! Given the design goodness of the past month and all those wonderful figures, I'd believe if I were you, that there's some awesomeness with the line's figures ahead of us. Wait and see!

That skeleton horse will be very welcome to my skeleton faction as I missed out on stockpiling the early sets. Now they're expensive on the aftermarket beyond anything rational or reasonable.

What is going on with those colourfully highlighted shining triangular-pieces that are scattered all over the theme, very prominently exposed in forming a stained glass window in that vampire castle set? Same "collect all McGuffins"-strategy they used with those Atlantis-keys? Might be a useful element though, at least for deco.

Be well all!

Well, here's something I don't understand. That thread makes me thing that the creature is custom made. Yet we've seen it on the prelims. Could anyone explain this to me?

That's what everyone on Brickipedia and I were wondering. If you looked a little closer, the mask has a little different design. The picture above is indeed custom.

That fencing Bowler-hat dude is boss.

Agreed 100%, he could easily be my favourite non-licensed fig if they do his prints right.

I think that female vampire is actually Bloody Mary. On the box of the haunted castle in bottom right corner, below "Dracula" there are definitely two more words, and last two letters of the second word are R and Y.

It says Dracula's Bride

These are so deliciously ABSURD, I LOVE them. So many great aspects:

The return of the OG Ghost, The Hearse, the bowler hat guy on the motorcycle with the fencing foil, Drac's Bride (Her hair!!!)and Castle and GLOW-IN-THE-DARK SKELLY HORSE!

I think the vampire castle lady is supposed to be a character like the matriarch from The Munsters. (Sorry I never saw much of the show / paid attention to it rather.)

the-munsters.jpg

Someone also posted earlier pointing out that one of the cars in the sets looks like The Munsters's car.

Heh, TLG would not market a character named Bloody Mary. I think that's considered a swear word in Britain, and I can say it's a little off-putting in the US.

I saw the video, and thought to myself, "eh," But then there was the castle. :wub_drool: TLG is certainly making up for the demise of classic Castle!

I really like these sets, not bothered at all if CMF pieces are used. These sets are fun, kind of camp and a bit cheesy like Alien conquest IMO. They have a retro feel about them. I was in my dark ages when the last monster/stuidos sets were out so I missed them but I will definately get a few of these. The hearse and castle are my favorite, I particularly like the castle turret pieces in black. They will be great for MOCS. The man in the bowler hat chasing after a hearse, with a sword, on a motorbike is so wrong its right!

Oops! :look:

Now I see it too.

Vampire.png

If you look REEEEEALLL closely, it says "VAMPIRE AND HIS BRIDE!" (Thanks Haltiamieli  )

EDIT: Anyone notice in 9462 how the woman has the Cave Woman's hair, and it has a spear (shiny one from 2000) in her hair? Creative! Also, in every set there's a glowy spearhead-shaped thing...maybe another Atlantis type thing?
