Miss Kyle Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Not bad at all! Now hand over the zombies already! :D *high fives Silva* Edited January 24, 2012 by Miss Kyle Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Monsters are in the wild! Pictures via http://www.blogomatic3000.com/2012/01/24/toyfair-2012-lego-avengers-lego-lord-of-the-rings-and-universal-monsters/#.Tx6rcoFKS0N I take back everything I said about this theme. Those monsters look great. I'm really glad that the CMs were just placeholders, because the Frankenstein and Dracula look perfect. Can't wait to see the Zombies. Quote
Walter Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 The werewolf looks different compared to his collectible minifigure counterpart. I find this to be a good thing, because neither of the minifigures will seem obsolete when someone wants to use one over the other. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Really hoping to see a close-up of the Swamp monster or whatever they're calling their 'Creature from the Black Lagoon.' This line looks more promising than I initially anticipated... Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 The Werewolf is gonna fit right in with my Forest Police Station! Quote
Remus_Lupin Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Dracula and Frankenstein are a little too close to their CMF counterparts for my liking, but I'm loving the Werewolf. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 After seeing these images, I am really excited for these sets. I like how the monsters are similar enough to the CMFs, but different to be their own entity. I plan on buying these and will forget about purchasing all the CMF monsters now. Whoo! Quote
surrideo Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 The Werewolf is gonna fit right in with my Forest Police Station! "That ain't a bear!" lol The more I see the werewolf minifig the more I want it. Hope to hear descriptions of the sets if they are being shown as I am not sure how much of this theme I'll pick up due the plethora of hopefully quality lego coming later this year. Quote
Sid Sidious Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Huw at Brickset is updating the site with notes from the toy fair, but it seems like Monster Fighters will be one of the last themes he puts up there. Hopefully he got the prices. The Frankenstein look awesome, and I think it is significantly better than the CM one. I think it's great that there is the Studios/Professor Lupin werewolf, the CM4 werewolf, and this one. It adds a lot of variety to a werewolf army. I can't wait for the Germany toy fair where we will hopefully get pictures of the real sets. Quote
Ardelon Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Dracula looks cool. The other two, ok, I guess. The werewolf's torso and legs are neat, his head not so much, but better than the prelims. I like that the Frankenstein monster is in a different green than the previous ones. Seems the werewolf needs both a belt and suspenders to keep his pants on! Edited January 24, 2012 by Ardelon Quote

Ardelon Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Huw posted the following on Flickr. Pretty awesome. Awesome indeed. Very vintage, usable elsewhere too. Fighting monsters sure leaves some scars! But it was about time we got a proper mechanical leg, the peg leg on the collectable cyborg was the weak point of the fig, IMO. But what are the things on the left fig's legs? Edited January 25, 2012 by Ardelon Quote
Sid Sidious Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Huw posted the following on Flickr. Pretty awesome. LEGO stand decoration at the London Toy Fair by hmillington, on Flickr I bet the guy on the left lost his arm from a monster, and he got his friends together to kill all of them for revenge. The guy on the right lost his leg too! I bet that monocle is to conceal the middle guy's missing eye. Edited January 24, 2012 by Sid Sidious Quote
Aanchir Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Huw posted the following on Flickr. Pretty awesome. LEGO stand decoration at the London Toy Fair by hmillington, on Flickr That robo-leg is AMAZING. Nice to have a specialized one of those rather than just a peg-leg like the Minifigures Series 3 Space Villain, even though a metal peg leg is cool in and of itself. The more cartoony monster faces are nice. While I preferred the "classic" look of the Collectible Minifigures versions, I have to say these designs definitely suit this wacky theme. I can't wait to see finished set designs! Quote
vexorian Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Those three guys are awesome. but I can't allow myself to get excited about this. There are too many Licensed themes and it is unlikely the cursed retail stores around here will brought any other theme that is not licensed and not town or NinjaGo. No, because there is no point in designing a new Dr. Frankenstein/Monster/Mummy/Vampire when they already made very good ones recently. As I said, I don't think they're preliminary because all the other figs use new molds and prints and therefore look pretty final, so it would be a strange coincidence if it were only the figs that are similar to the CMFs that are preliminary stand-ins, don't you think? The werewolf is new. I think the coincidence is due to LEGO prioritizing on finishing prototypes for the minifigs that didn't have a good alternative. I think it is really, very unlikely for TLG to release CMF in sets. You can mark my words. And afterall, they didn't reuse the ninja in NinjaGo. Nor did they reuse the mommy in Pharaoh's quest. The minifigures will likely be very similar to their CMF counterparts but have different prints, TLG can order new minifigure prints very easily. I'd expect Franki and Dracula to dive a little more into scary territory than the comical territory from CMF. Hah, there you go. Same molds, different prints. lisqr Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Now after seeing those "fighters" I'm wondering who's the bad guy... Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 NEW ROBOLEG! Arsène Lupin+Watson, Mr. Walking Sawmill and Good and ol Adventurers granpa! Lego, you won again! Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I already commented this on the flickr picture so now I'm just being cheap : I hope accordion leg guy's surname is "Bellows". But I'd settle for "Accordion Leg Guy" Quote
CMP Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Wow. Those are great looking figs, on both sides. I think this theme's gonna be a lot better than I expected. I love the mechna-leg, but it almost pales to the figure it's one. He looks like the type of guy to sell hot sweatervests from an alley - look at that evil face. Quote
Sid Sidious Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Now that we have these pictures, we still need to see Elvis Hair Guy and the woman for the heroes and Dracula's wife, Mad Scientist, Swamp Monster, Ghost, Bat People, and Mummy for the monsters. Quote

surrideo Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Something almost Phileas Fogg about the gent on the right, apart from the mechna leg lol Quote
Huntleyfx Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 While I must admit, as a designer, my love affair with Steampunk has cooled quite a bit, I am extremely glad we have some official steampunk figures. This is going to be great for a lot of upcoming MOCs. Quote
SilvaShado Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Yay! Some steampunk minfigures! They look like they could kick some monster butt. I just wish they'd make a female fighter... Quote
vexorian Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Now after seeing those "fighters" I'm wondering who's the bad guy... Sure after LEGO insisted so much that guys with prosthetics and monsters are bad guys it is hard to tell which side is good with this one. Quote
