Thego Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 I was under the impression that the bowler hat was going to be black from earlier prelims. Seems it is light bley now. I really wanted a black bowler hat! Quote
General Magma Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Oh dear, I don't know what to do right now. These sets look nice and I think of getting those later on, but the entire LOTR theme plus some of this would be very expensive. Dunno why, but this theme actually caught my interest. The man-bat figures look nice, and so do the others. It's a fantastic year for LEGO then, it seems - but not much of a fantastic year for the people's wallets. Still having doubts about buying these with a limited amount of money for LEGO when I also want all of the LOTR sets.. but the sets are still nice anyhow. ~ General Magma Quote
kumabot Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Though the one set I'm very interested in seeing is the Zombies set. That sounds like it could have a lot of potential and lead to a bunch of Left 4 Dead/zombie apocalypse MOCs. (At least what I plan on doing with that set. ) I doubt the Monster Fighters zombie will be much different from the CMF zombie. Why don't you just make your L4D MOCs right now with the CMF zombies? Graysmith Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 The Vampire Castle looks amazing. It shall be mine! Quote
Amset-Rah Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I doubt the Monster Fighters zombie will be much different from the CMF zombie. Why don't you just make your L4D MOCs right now with the CMF zombies? Easy, I don't have any. The only undead minifigs I have are skeletons. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I spot Dracula's coffin in the basement, a pipe organ, a bed, spell page and treasure chest. Quote
Lyichir Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I spot Dracula's coffin in the basement, a pipe organ, a bed, spell page and treasure chest. I know! The set packs in so many mood-establishing details. I am absolutely loving this theme! ...Unfortunately, this theme is shaping up to be this year's "theme I love, but don't get". Ninjago has held most of my attention for the past two years, so just as I missed out on Alien Conquest last year I expect to miss out on this theme this year. Perhaps I'll get a set or two for Christmas, but otherwise I might very well miss out. Quote
K-Nut Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I've never been into horror and monster themes, so this theme doesn't do that much for me. I'll get the Castle (I'm a sucker for them ) And I might get a few of the smaller sets, but that's about it. But the 20's/30's esque vehicles are nice! I take it back. I need all these sets!!! Quote
just2good Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) The castle looks fantastic! I love all of the traps and secrets in it! The new ghost mold also looks great! It's true to the original, but is a bit more effective. Edited February 10, 2012 by just2good Quote
K-Nut Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Toyfair pics! This line starts looking better and better! Quote
phanstasm Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I take it back. I need all these sets!!! Agreed. Even the tree from the Werewolf has a lot of cool parts for MOCs. Plus, the tree itself would be a nice backdrop piece for some LOTR stuff. And all those traps and and features in Drac's castle are wonderful! Lego really did a fantastic job with this theme! Quote
Algernon Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 This theme and Lord of the Rings will be my focus this summer. That Vampire Hearse will be mine. That bowler hat guy is sword fighting with Dracula... this is officially the most BA theme in years. Quote
K-Nut Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 That bowler hat guy is sword fighting with Dracula... this is officially the most BA theme in years. But knowing TLG with the cool action themes, this will probably be another one and done deal. Quote
Sid Sidious Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) Does the price card say $29.99 or $79.99 on this? Edited February 12, 2012 by Sid Sidious Quote

Sid Sidious Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Looks to me like $79.99. That's what I thought. After I posted this, I found another pic showing that the set has 740 pieces, so it's probably $79.99 Quote
GuntherThePenguin Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I am really loving this theme, but with all the new Superheroes and Star Wars this Summer, the only Monster Fighters sets Iam able to buy are the Swamp Creature (8 bucks? Hello!), and possibly the Werewolf. Overall, Lego is doing a great job this year. Quote

Algernon Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) It's a beautiful Sunday morning, so I'll spend some time to go through the Toyfair pics and analyze them... This is a good picture of the mad scientist set. I have to admit, the Fighters car it comes with is an abomination. It has tumorous flick-fire missiles all over it, and appears to be missing the back half. I have to conclude that the designer had a seizure while he was adding the flick-fire functions. That said, I quite like the evil laboratory. Both minifigures look great, and it has a similar atmosphere as Dracula's castle. Will I be getting it? Probably not at full price The vampire hearse appears to include a slightly different Dracula. At the very least, he has no cape. He still looks great. I don't have the CMF version, so I'm more than happy to pick him up in this set. Even better, it seems to include the bowler hat guy on a throwaway LEGO bike, and retails at $34.99! This set is an absolute must-buy for me. However... the mummy set has to be one of the worst sets I've ever seen. He appears to be riding a skeleton-horse-drawn carriage. The set appears to include the least remarkable minifigures of the line, and there's nothing compelling about the model itself. I'll be happy to save my money on this one. We've already got a good look at the Ghost Train, but here is a nice clear pic. As much as I like this set, I will probably wind up skipping it in favor of Dracula's castle. The train looks very expensive, and although the model looks great I feel like the play value will be limited compared to the castle. Maybe if it goes on sale... The smallest set, it appears, will be the swamp creature set. I imagine this will be a big seller. Great minifigs and a neat little swamp speeder to boot. If it's under $9.99 I will be very happy to snatch it up. Here's a real good pic of the printed moon piece on the castle. I'm still absolutely in love with the vibe of this set. Just looking at it wants me to go play Symphony of the Night (+1 if you know what that is). There's a nice clear shot of the man-bat here, and the set appears to include two of them. As a bonus, it includes my personal favorite of the Fighters vehicles. It looks the most solidly build of all the designs, which I have to admit a little lackluster. Last but not least, the most epic scene in non-licensed LEGO history... Edited February 12, 2012 by Algernon Quote

Sid Sidious Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 The motorcycle in the hearse looks kind of like a motorcycle version of Project Satan Quote
