Ceroknight Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I really hope this gets at least another wave. I doubt it, but stranger things have happened. Look at Atlantis, they had sort of the same thing with collecting treasure keys (Or in this case, moon stones) and they had a second wave. Here, like another poster mentioned, we have several other classic monsters (I'd personally love an Invisible Man or Hyde/Jekyll) Well there was the case of Pharaoh's Quest...it also had you collect the golden items, but that unfortunately had only one go... There is so much LEGO can do with this theme, a brick-built sea monster? Quote
Jargo Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Of course, I forgot about Captain Nemo a Victorian sea Captain who likes life nice and quiet aboard the Nautilus his gothic submarine. A set of the monster fighter team and the captain battling a monster squid would be quite cool now that I think about it. The steampunk boat idea also sounds good but maybe pit that against Sirens or Harpies instead of the Kraken? Quote

Or what about a ghost clown? Quote
JackJonespaw Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Those bat boys are pretty nice, I must say! Are the arms a new mold? Quote

jonwil Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 A ghost pirate ship would be PERFECT for this (I picture something that looks a little like the POTC Black Perl except covered in white or GITD highlights ala the ghost train. Sails could be the same ones used for the Perl (or some similar black sails) Quote

Here, like another poster mentioned, we have several other classic monsters (I'd personally love an Invisible Man or Hyde/Jekyll) I actually hope they don't extend the theme if the only way to do it is to mimic what they did with Atlantis. Atlantis went from a cohesive theme, with the mostly-indentical treasure keys tying everything together, to a mish-mash of "collect everything marginally shiny you can find!" Admittedly Atlantis had the same treasure keys for two waves, but that worked largely because the main "lock" they opened was held until the second wave, unlike the case with Monster Fighters where the Vampire Castle provides what looks to be a stunning conclusion to the theme's story. Capt. Bluebeard Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I hate to say it but there's very little in this theme that excites me. The castle looks decent but overall it is a big disappointment compared to the beautiful sets that came out in PQ. My thoughts exactly, although the castle has been growing on me. I'll probably wait 'til it's on clearance next year, so I can get two and combine them into an even bigger castle. Bluebeard, out- Quote
Darth of Soals Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 These look really good sets! made even better with the figures. I just hope the play features are as good as the sets! Quote

Sails could be the same ones used for the Perl (or some similar black sails) I would prefer torn sails. GITD parts would be phenomenal, though. The thing is to send them on another quest. Unlike PQ, where the theme was by definition limited to defeating the Pharaoh, these guys could fight other monsters elsewhere. Thats just a hypothesis, though; I believe this theme is a one and done. Quote
legolupino Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I noticed that lego has made lot of conflict-based themes lately. What's up with that? Quote
SirSven7 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I noticed that lego has made lot of conflict-based themes lately. What's up with that? its cause they know that they sell, I kid will buy a set if it can have a little conflict in it, its just the way it is. They like to design the sets so that each of them have there own little conflict in one box (eg, 2 figs from one side against a fig or two from another side). Mankind is a violent creature Quote
Algernon Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I noticed that lego has made lot of conflict-based themes lately. What's up with that? Oh god lets not start this discussion again. I'm pretty sure we've had it at least twenty times. Quote
Jargo Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 OH MY! Is that conflict in this thread? Quote
Amset-Rah Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Well, maybe this is a theme destined to be a one-shot, unfortunately. I just realized something. I remember when I was a lurker there was a thread about having a halloween/horror theme along these lines. Coincidence? Quote

IAmWillGibson Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) Yeah, I remain big into this theme. There's lots to like, even though I already see a good amount of stuff I'm eager to change about these official models. The Hearse, for example, has that giant goofy sticker on it, and this might be the first time I consciously do not apply the recommended decoration. It's just... too big and silly. And I'm a fan of the bone engine, so, you know. Anyway, more guys to populate my Cemetery are fantastic. A while ago I made a gothic organ for my Vampire, which I will from now on assume LEGO was inspired by, 'cause I like taking credit. And as for continuing Monster Hunters, there is still the place all Horror media must go at some point: Cthulhu. Edited February 16, 2012 by IAmWillGibson Quote

Normally I do apply stickers to the sets (They look plain without them a lot of the time) but for the hearse, I might keep it off this time along with you. Though the rest of the set does look pretty awesome (Especially the bone engine you mentioned). Quote
Poison Ivy Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) It might have been this thread. It was renames after the theme was confirmed. Nope, the thread in question was locked when Monster Fighters was officially announced. This thread was previously called "New Action Theme 2012?". But that's off topic. Can't wait to see The Zombies. Edited February 16, 2012 by Poison Ivy Quote
Peppermint_M Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I will get the cars and they will become awesome racing cars... The other sets look a little off what I would buy and their parts are pretty common. If I can PaB the figures it'll be only worth buying sets on clearance. Quote
Walter Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) Is that a Haunted house I spy at around 0:02 of this video? I spot ghosts coming out of it too. I wonder if it was an unfinished product, or something that is coming out eventually. Zombie set..? Edited February 16, 2012 by Walt Quote

I wonder if it was an unfinished product, or something that is coming out eventually. Zombie set..? Wow, you're right. I know the R2-D2 shown before the Haunted House is confirmed as a future release, so maybe the Haunted House will be for Monster Fighters next assortment or maybe a Lego Exclusive set (due to its size)? It looks neat! Quote
surrideo Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) Looks good, but too big surely to be the fabled zombie set. Would think Castle is the flagship Though the VIP exclusive minifig set that was voted for and gave "strange" results may be explained by zombies appearing in this line. Zombies in a graveyard with Haunted house would be brilliant Edited February 16, 2012 by surrideo Quote
Dharkan Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Name of the set was The Zombies (the rumoured one) I don't think they'll name a set which has a haunted house The Zombies. :P Also it is too big as other have mentioned too. More than 1300 appearently. Quote
Ardelon Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Here is the speculation thread on this haunted house. Quote
