SirSven7 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Here is the speculation thread on this haunted house. Thanks for that I had never seen the Haunted House build before I will definatly look into this set as a future purchase Quote

Odin's son Fred Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) The castle is decent, but what bugs me is that it's not an enclosed castle, just a facade. From what I've noticed in recent years, it seems Lego is getting away from doing large, enclosed structures (examples: the recent Harry Potter sets, Ninjago, PotC and Atlantis). I can understand why they may be doing it as it gives more playability and action features to the sets for kids to enjoy. Yeah I forgot to mention the harpoons making a welcome return. I guess it makes the female character a bit more of a quirky character. I think a bat-a-rang looks better in that hair clip and would fit with the line. The steampunk boat idea also sounds good but maybe pit that against Sirens or Harpies instead of the Kraken? Or against a ghost pirate ship, since there are no Pirate or PotC sets on the horizon? A Steampunk and Ghost ship would be great for this line....those would be a couple of sets I would pick up for sure. Here is a really cool Steampunk/Fantasy ship that was done for Historica: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=65745 Does anyone know if the Ghost Train will fit on Lego Train tracks? If so, that could open up some real cross theme fun. Edited February 16, 2012 by Odin's son Fred Quote

Besides for the castles with an enclosed square structure (like the recent King's Castle) or on a raised baseplate, LEGO has always done open-back buildings. Houses, police and fire stations, airports, everything actually - these have always had open backs. It's not a new trend. If you want closed structures, that's what the Modulars and occasional exclusives (like MMV, though on the packaging it's opened to have an open back) are for. Quote
surrideo Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Have to remember they are playsets and not display models. Away to look at the castle again though as my kids raised the question,Does it have a garage for the hearse? Fantastic question Quote

I probably didn't say what I meant correctly. Older building used to have 3 walls (or at least as I remember them) so they were open backed where as newer sets seem to just be a one wall facade. And it does make sense to make them that way for playsets as long as some action features are included. Quote
just2good Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) I'm starting to love the tree in the Werewolf set. It's worth it for $11, and could really fit in any swamp. Edited February 16, 2012 by just2good Quote

Capt. Redblade Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Or against a ghost pirate ship, since there are no Pirate or PotC sets on the horizon? Or what about a ghost clown? I assume that's a Scooby-Doo reference, but I'm behind you 100% even if it's not. "Watch the pretty coin of gold, and you will do as you are told..." Quote
Sid Sidious Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I'm starting to love the tree in the Werewolf set. It's worth it for $11, and could really fit in any swamp. fbtb screwed up the price for that in their photostream. It is really $19.99. The mummy set is the one with 90 pieces for $11.99. Quote

Yeah an I'm not sure the mummy is worth $11/£11, though the skeleton horse is unique. It may be good for modding and building up the cart. All the smaller/mid sized sets must be a bit more expensive due to new molds, but I can assure lego between CMF and pharoahs quest my kids are sorted for mummies Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I wonder if this Ghost Ship is the Zombie set. Quote
Amset-Rah Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 In terms of the ghost ship, I just hope it's better than that lame excuse for a Flying Dutchman Spongebob set. Anything could be better. Wasted potential. Anyway, enough trashing on Spongebob, I'm pretty sure this ghost ship will rock. As for the mummy set, the main reason I'll probably pick up a couple is to make a chariot for my Amset-Rah minifig. Plus you can't have enough skeletal horses. Quote
surrideo Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Was a ghost ship not just a suggestion that came from the board or does it have basis from elsewhere? Quote

Sorry, I didn't realize that this hadn't been shared in this thread. It was in the Haunted House one. Anyway, there was a ghost ship with Toth's other Monster Fighters sketches (as was the Haunted House). The guy who first claimed that there would be a Haunted House (which we seem to have seen, very similar to Toth's sketches) also predicted a Flying Dutchman (from POTC), which someone suggested might of been confused for another Monster Fighters set. ______ Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 These figures are PERFECT for Steampunk, I shall have to pick some up. So many themes to spend money on this year, so little money Quote

Ah, thanks for clearing the air. :D I have a feeling these sets are going to leave me in the red. Even the sucky sets have some redeeming factor that makes them a worthy purchase (The GitD skeleton horse is a biggie). Quote
Ceroknight Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Sorry...but is the Hunted House part of the Monster Fighters theme or is it a new modular? Quote
BeKindRewind Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I'm late to the party with any comments here, but I had to just say that I LOVE the castle. It is so different than any castle in the traditional "historic" theme. Other sets have trap doors and other dangerous pitfalls, but this one seems so much more cruel. I love that! Dark and little edgy for Lego, in my opinion, and I'm glad that they have branched out a little here. The rest of the sets are so-so, but I'll be picking up a few of them here and there. As for the Haunted House, I would love to see what they do with it (ie an interior filled with evilness) given the direction they went with the castle, but I'm not sure it's been officially announced that it's part of THIS theme at this point vs Modular or Creator. Larrynautik Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 The Monster Fighters castle is a must-have ! Figs, traps, haunted architecture and accesories are good job. I'm just skeptical about the vehicles of this theme. I will look at the reveiws closely. Quote
DarkFader Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I really like the look of this theme and I am definitely looking forward to seeing these on the shelves; I think my favorite minfig from it so far must be the funky-looking swamp monster and I'm glad to see that he comes in the cheapest set.
