Dannylonglegs Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I have a good collection of glow in the dark, and when not glowing they're a horrid shade of bren. Oh, I see what you mean. I would prefer white, but glow in the dark wouldn't be too bad, as it would match the tarp. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Sid Sidious Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Same here in Saarbrücken! But they only have the Big Castle and that new Graveyard set... I bet this is how the German eBay guy got the sets earlier. Now if only a German member wouldn't have higher priorities than Monster Fighters and post a review... (or at least some decent pictures.) Does anyone what know what system, (If any) That train goes with? I don't know very much about trains. ~Insectoid Aristocrat There's no system with it, you just roll it along the floor. Quote
tafkatb Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I have a good collection of glow in the dark, and when not glowing they're a horrid shade of bren. I believe these will actually be a newly-formulated glow in the dark color that is actually white when not glowing. I have yet to see it in person, but in pictures it looks indistinguishable from regular white. Quote
Phyre Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Dangly arms would be rather difficult to pose and play with though, wouldn't they? I've just always been a fan of the dangly arms. I have a small army of those guys in my medieval/haunted village, and all of them carry weapons. They can be hard to pose, but actually are quite easy to play with. And I find the Fantasy Era and Ninjago skeletons to be even worse than the dangly arms as far as posing/holding weapons. But they could make a new type of skeleton that has poseable arms with hands that can rotate like normal minifigures. Quote
TomRoid Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Today I was in Lego Store in Munchen and this set can be normally bought. Price is 40 or 50 euro (I forgot) and they also have one assembled in glass cube. It looks nice, but unfortunately I had other priorities (new lego hospital and some mining sets were also on sale) Does the Hospital have a top level like the City Corner or City House sets? Quote

Jargo Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Also I doubt anything called a demon would ever get made by TLC But it's ok for them to make undead minifigs and evil monsters and litter their themes with skeletons and tombs? Hmmm. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 But it's ok for them to make undead minifigs and evil monsters and litter their themes with skeletons and tombs? Hmmm. Same reason they don't put a monk in Castle. It's religious. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

That would be nice if the theme won't be ended after a half of a year. Like Pharaoh Quest or Alien Conquest. What do you think about Cthulhu-like creature, Minotaurs or Gigants? There is a problem. Lego would think that there is a lack of "popular" monsters and they will never made new sets for that theme. Quote
GuntherThePenguin Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Ok, after seeing the official pics of these sets, I suddenly want them all!!! Damn you Lego! I have no room in my house, nor the money to buy these and the Summer SW sets! I am especially pleased with the Swamp Creature, Werewolf, Zombie and Vampire Castle sets, but I know I will probably end up only getting the Swamp Creature and possibly Werewolf. Quote

LEGOman273 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Graveyards and the remains of the dead are not related to religion? Double standards methinks. Not so. The graveyard has nothing that denotes religion. Nor do skeletons, zombies, vampires, other undead. For all intents and purposes, they are simply dead and buried. What religion they belonged to in life is not known. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Graveyards and the remains of the dead are not related to religion? Double standards methinks. Sure, but do you see any crosses in the graveyard? Athiests and members of many religions get buried in graveyards too. Demons (as they are most often portrayed) are associated with christianity but always have something to do with a religion. Vampires and graveyards, although sometimes portrayed as having something to do with religion (Dracula v. Cross), remain unaffiliated. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 As does this Speeda Demon, who is being released this year actually! I should have been more specific. I meant I doubt lego'll make a minifigure that represents a Christian/other Religion's Demon. Crazy Demon is indeed refering to such a demon, but the relation is quite distant, as it's just a truck, nothing demonic. Speeda Demon is not directly refering to a religious demon, but rather the phrase, speed demon. That being said, I was actually surprised that they called him that. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 All they need is a torso and legs. But they don't call it a demon, or a devil, they call it a red monster. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
CMP Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 But they don't call it a demon, or a devil, they call it a red monster. They could call it a red monster if it gets released in Monster Fighters. All I'm pointing out is that it's not out of the question to have a minifigure like that, we're already 1/3 of the way there with this head. I'm hoping Monster Fighters turns out like Atlantis, the last long-term action theme, but I'm not holding my breath. Quote

There's always the possibility that they could have a similar being show up, but I doubt they would call him a demon. Maybe we could get an evil red djinni. I hope that Monster Fighters continues, because I've been waiting for a theme like this and there's so much yet untapped material, but I'm also sceptical of that happening. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
1974 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Vampires, skeletons and graves predates ANY current religion and are part of much folklore so let's not get into that, TLG is just tapping into some common ground here (as allways) Anyway, I'm really looking forward to these sets! (And yes, I'm tired of my son naggin' me to buy stuff not available, haha) Great theme! Quote

I'm hoping Monster Fighters turns out like Atlantis, the last long-term action theme, but I'm not holding my breath. I think it's a little bit different to use a "demon" character as a main villain in an official theme than it is to just use the name in a couple of (clearly not demonic) Racers sets. Remember, even if it doesn't really make any practical sense for LEGO to shy away from religious issues, from a P.R. standpoint that's irrelevant. LEGO is a kids toy. How disastrous would it be for them if people suddenly started a big morality ordeal over "demon-worshipping" children's toys? It's not worth the risk, and I'm pretty sure LEGO's marketing team would agree. That said, I do hope Monster Fighters continues for several waves. It's more worthy of being an "Evergreen" theme than Atlantis was imo. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I remember reading from a few different sources that this would be a one-off. I'm fine with that. It's a great one-off. Honestly, while the story is cute and the characters have nice little back-stories, there isn't much place for the overall story to go. Sure, there could be a new main villain that wants to destroy the world in another way, but still, it's a stretch. I like this theme better than some of the recent ones that have had multiple waves (Atlantis, Power Miners), but it's ok for this theme to only have one. Not everything needs a sequel, especially when the first one is already great. Quote
CaptainBermuda Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Although I would love to deliver these in HD this is all I can find at the moment I will update with larger pics when I have them! funny, it looks like just about all the monsters are almost identical to the monsters from the minifigure series. Maybe it's a sign!!!! Quote
