Delta 38 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Ooh, the sets look better out-of-box, I think. Maybe the greenish-purple background threw me off a bit before. The Hearse looks a lot nicer now. Yay, a coffin in a cheap set! Quote
Ardelon Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Has anyone here looked at the text on the book pages in the Monster Fighters character videos? They're hilariously self-aware, especially Frank Rock's. Very witty. I hope there is more media still to come for this theme that maintains that sharp, tongue-in-cheek humor. Yep, very genre-savvy. Especially the Frank Rock reference to . Quote
jonwil Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I am liking this theme more and more. The Castle looks great and I just LOVE that pipe organ (although the only link I can find between Vampires and Pipe Organs is the Count on Sesame Street) Quote
vynsane Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 OMG I love this theme. Now I can't tell, though, whether or not the car in the castle set is sand green or the new olive green - it looks different in each of the pics it's shown in... Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Yep, very genre-savvy. Especially the Frank Rock reference to . I always thought Frank Rock was a reference to Meat Loaf in Rocky Horror Picture Show. Thanks so much GRogall for the HD pics! I'm glad we finally get to see good pics of the lab set! Whoo! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
gedren_y Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) In the swamp creature set, is that a new trans-green color? The 1x1 tiles, I mean. Edited May 12, 2012 by gedren_y Quote
Omega X Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Wow thanks GRogall. We finally can take an up-close look on the "Mad scientist's underground lab" Although I am still curious about the light brick and its propetites. Anyways, thanks Omega X Quote
The Joker1 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 I was just watching the zombie set review and i heard it will be £30 here in the uk! Surely that is too good to be true I was thinking it would be around £40. Is there anyone here in the UK that knows if this it true? Quote
Endgame Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Just went to TRU... Nothing! The only new set they had was the Mines of Moria. Quote
BrettBrick Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 The zombie set is an exclusive set is it? Who is it exclusive to? How much is it? Quote
Endgame Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 And the Ghost Train is ordered, supposed to come in 4 to 5 business days. Expect a review when it comes! Quote
Ogre Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Looks like an old-style skeleton in the Vampire Castle set! Quote
305Bats Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 The zombie set is an exclusive set is it? Who is it exclusive to? How much is it? Yes please,I'd like to know as well! Quote
Algernon Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 And the Ghost Train is ordered, supposed to come in 4 to 5 business days. Expect a review when it comes! Can't wait! Quote
Endgame Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Can't wait! Combined with my state's heinous sales tax (more than 6 percent!), the expedited shipping (I'm impatient ) and TRU 5 dollar markup, it set me back 98 dollars! Let's hope it was all worth it. Quote
Algernon Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) Combined with my state's heinous sales tax (more than 6 percent!), the expedited shipping (I'm impatient ) and TRU 5 dollar markup, it set me back 98 dollars! Let's hope it was all worth it. It's 11% in Chicago. I don't shop at TRU on principle because of that obscene mark-up, lets face it LEGO is an expensive enough hobby without arbitrary price hikes. If I spot the Vampire Castle at a Wal-Mart somewhere, I just might pick it up and do a review. Edited May 12, 2012 by Algernon Quote
Super Goblin Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Found these at TRU today. Only grabbed these two sets for now. I'll have some out of box pics of the Swamp Creature set in a few. Quote
Super Goblin Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Sorry for the crappy phone pics, I'm at work. The extra pieces. Quote
Endgame Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) Nice catch! Any other sets there? Not that I'm going to be purchasing after breaking the bank with the ghost train, but still... Edited May 12, 2012 by Endgame Quote
Masked Builder Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Wow, great fig in that set! I'm getting that set for sure. Quote
Super Goblin Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) Nice catch! Any other sets there? Not that I'm going to be purchasing after breaking the bank with the ghost train, but still... They had the ghost train. Werewolf and Vampire castle sets as well. Edited May 12, 2012 by Super Goblin Quote
Endgame Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 They had the ghost train. Werewolf and Vampire castle sets as well. Your TRU seems much better stocked then mine! Something I've noticed about the Ghost Train - the prison car has rubber bands on the wheels. On the other cars, they have the elastics to generate enough friction for the batwing mechanism, but the prison car has no wings. Perhaps an unknown feature? Quote
Combee Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I just picked up the swamp creature at Toys R Us, it looks great but the eyes on the creature's head don't match up with the holes in the mask You can kind of see this in the photos posted above by Super Goblin but I'll take some pictures of mine soon to show you guys. I was a little disappointed Quote
