The Joker1 Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 (edited) Hi Im not sure if it will work but most classic castles have been based on this base And the best style would likely be the one from dragon fortress Edited June 10, 2012 by The Joker1 Quote
TheSwampCreature Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 The Swamp Creature (of course) id one that I really fancy, a minifigure design I can't miss. So, how much of the body is printed? Quote

just2good Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 This is a bit whiney, but I really wish the Vampyre Castle set was fully enclosed. I wouldn't mind if that would make it $30 more, but it's just that it's gonna look wierd next to the Haunted House set, which is enclosed. But whatever, the Vampyre Castle set is still probably the best set of this year... Quote

I used to think that, but now I'm actually kinda glad that it isn't enclosed; it gives the castle more playability. I imagine that if it were enclosed, the area it'd make would be too small to do anything in and you'd have to keep detaching the walls to play with it, which would be kinda awkward. Artanis I Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Our Rodney Rathbone is most certainly named after Basil Rathbone though, who famously played Sherlock Holmes in the 1930s and 40s and is still considered to be THE Sherlock Holmes[citation needed] of the silver screen. Most of those films were also released by Universal, who as you know made all those classic monster movies. But I don't think Jack McHammer is based on M.C. Hammer somehow... This is a bit whiney, but I really wish the Vampyre Castle set was fully enclosed. I wouldn't mind if that would make it $30 more, but it's just that it's gonna look wierd next to the Haunted House set, which is enclosed. But whatever, the Vampyre Castle set is still probably the best set of this year... One thing AFOLs learn in time is that system sets are supposed to be playsets... and therefore buildings are never enclosed. Quote

It's just that, I didn't want to say it, but I would of preferred it more if the Haunted House set wasn't enclosed. That would make it cheaper, and more fun. Don't kill me for saying that AFOLs! Nagyzee Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Was there going to be a Zombie set? Or did I misread that somewhere? Other than the new Haunted house. are there sets with zombies coming out? http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=9465-1 Quote
Solscud007 Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=9465-1 haha whoops. Thanks Quote
Algernon Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 (edited) Well, the Haunted House set is something of an oddball, isn't it? I can't remember the last time a brand-new unlicensed theme received a UCS-scale exclusive. The set is clearly aimed at AFOLs, meaning that excessive play functions are unnecessary (the designer even mentioned that there are very few play functions for a set that size) and so LEGO opted for a full building. The Castle, on the other hand, is part of the original line, and must sport as many play functions as possible to appeal to the kids. Makes sense - I don't think many kids would see the point in building a back wall to the castle just so it can be removed for play. The Castle and the Haunted House are both aimed at entirely different audiences. Unfortunately, I am also on the fence as to which model to buy. I love the Castle, and I've been planning on purchasing it since it was announced, but I don't really have the funds for both the Castle and the House. The House is clearly the more detailed building, but I love the gothic vibe of the Castle. They also both seem to include a similar range of minifigs. I wish the House had more exclusives. Both great sets overall. I am continually impressed by this theme! Edited June 12, 2012 by Algernon Quote
granth Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Not very informative and, to be honest, I'm not inclined to believe a single word of it.I believe that MF will arrive in the UK this month, seeing as they recently got rid of some of last years themes, such as Atlantis & Alien Conquest. It is just a question of when exactly that will happen. I was in the Lego store at Bluewater on Sunday. I asked about MF and he told me June 13th they would be in store. He didn't sound too convincing however and he was also not able to tell me when Ninjago summer sets would be in. He did however tell me August for LOTR which sounds about right. Quote

Oh please, let that be true! It's my birthday in 2 weeks and I plan on going on a LEGO spending spree. Bluebeard, out- Quote

It helps make sense if you put the Haunted House in the same mental category as the Medieval Market Village and the Imperial Flagship. Both very much AFOL targeted upper end sets for what were otherwise System Themes. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 £60 for the ghost train, as much as I liked the set before, I think that price just made it appear more 'wantable'! definitely getting it! Quote
AngryChair Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 I really was set to avoid this range until I saw that Haunted House. Damn you Lego..! Quote
