KimT Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Am I the only x-pod crazed member on this site? And why don't we have discussions on those lovely little pods? *wub* *wub*. Some time ago I stumbled over a webpage dedicated to the pods: X-Pod World Do visit it. I am planning to upload pics of my xpod designs to my brickshelf page as soon as possible. I've currently uploaded pics of the Play Off" set and the coming pods (2006). - Which I must say are very good and I can't wait. Unfortunately the new pods (2005) are still unavailable in DK. (Praise the Lord for bricklink.com). So it might be a while before I've got new designs for those. KimT BTW: is that you languages who's posted pics on xpodworld? :) Quote
MattZitron Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I love the look of the new Raptor X-pod. And the 2 droids were great. The idea itself is fantastic, play and walk! And of course our own Languages won a competition on that site. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I thought X-Pods WERE system? Am I the only x-pod crazed member on this site? Far from it! http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=131800 http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=151959 http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=118235 http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=102063 They're pretty damn awesome. At first glance, they looked like crap, thanks to the minimalistic silliness of the models you're actually shown built from ONE pod's contents, but as spare parts sources, they're priceless. It's a good way for Lego to introduce the fact they have new and weird parts / colors to people who otherwise wouldn't have bought a more expensive set... and thereby never saw any of the exciting new stuff. If not for X-Pods, I wouldn't have known they had 1 x 1 slopes, and wouldn't have bought any more expensive sets just to get more. Aside from that, I'm SO glad they made trans neon green shells. Too bad the orange was dark orange instead of the neon orange that glows like a devil under blacklight. The second wave of X-Pods put the first ones to shame... so much goodness to be had for just $3.50 a pod. Quote
KimT Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 Far from it! I dare say! *wub* those models are awesome. I see that I'm still quite an apprentice compared to You. Anyway I've started the upload and, yes, I'm still at a level where small models are the best I can do. But with practice comes experience :) KimT My X-Pod Gallery EDIT: Yes X-Pods would be system.... but I couldn't figure out where to put it. It's not really a theme is it |-/ Quote
Aredhel Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 I love them too!!! (They are the first Lego I got ;) but into that you can't count my "childhood-Lego" ) Wanna have more of them (just have got yellow, red, green and blue)... When I started building 2 month ago, my first MOC was made of X-Pods! Not very special but I love it :D (here's my gallery) Quote
KimT Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 Nice work Aredhel. Not very special but I love it Ooh but all MOCs are special. And this is no exceptance. I think you did a great job. Working with what's in the pod as one's sole source isn't that easy :) KimT BTW: Has anyone tried the Play Off! game - it's actually quite funny :oD If You haven't got it - then get it. It's cheap and You get the 5 X-Pods from the first season. It's listed on bricklink having a starting price at 19 USD. Bricklink stores selling Play Off! Quote
sam89 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 nfortunately the new pods (2005) are still unavailable in DK. (Praise the Lord for bricklink.com). I can't find any X-pods on Bricklink anywhere. I quite like the 2005 X-pods, but it seems they'll never be released here. The 2006 X-Pods will though, I think, since they're in the German retail catalogue. Quote

KimT Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 Sorry to hear that Sam89 I bought mine via bricklink a few months ago along with the playoff! game. Could be that they're simply sold out. KimT I did a search on bricklink and found this by searching items for sale "4337" dragon pod search Quote
KimT Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 Yeeees! You want that dragon don't you - everything has it's price and right now the lowest price is 7USD - or at least somewhere close to that... :) KimT EDIT: after searching bricklink.com further I've succeded in finding all the pods for sale. But the price for a single pod is rising fast. You can still get some of them for around 3.50 USD, but mostly the price is around those 7 USD per pod... :/ Quote
jonfett Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Sam: This store has all 4 four of the new (2005) xpods that you listed.. http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=shonb...&itemID=4704345.. as well as the game Kimt mentioned. I was planning to order 1 or each of the 4, so unless you have your own BL account, do you want me to order you a set as well? Jon. Quote
KimT Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 Does anyone have an idea of why TLC has numbered the pods the way they have?: 4335 black robot pod 2004 4337 dragon pod 2005 4338 monster pod 2005 4339 aqua pod 2005 4346 green pod 2004 4347 blue pod 2004 4348 yellow pod 2004 4349 red pod 2004 4413 arachno pod 2005 4415 auto pod 2006 4416 white robot pod 2006 4417 plane pod 4418 dinosaur pod It doesn't make any sense that one of the 2005 sets would be numbered so far off. And why the great leap in number from season to season. I don't get it. Could it be that they have plans for some 90 X-Pods to hit the shelves? *wub* *wub* KimT Quote

The sets cost Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 You'd think the 4413 would've been 4336. Beats me... maybe Lego has weird conditions whereby they reuse set numbers. Set 4336 was last used for a Scala set in 1980. Quote
KimT Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 It's truly strange. The questions keep popping up, why is the black robot pod numbered 4335 and not either 4345 or 4350? And why does 3 of the 2005 season pods have number between the black robot pod and it's season. Now I am normally not a fan of conspiracy theories, but this must mean something. The coming of an X-Pod theme? "The PODS are coming" - Just like they now try and make a theme out of Bionicle |-D |-D KimT Quote

SuvieD Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 If anyone wants x-pods, let me know. I will pick them up and charge you exactly what it costs to purchase and ship them. I know of a few stores that have sales also so I can get them a little cheaper than retail (plus 7.5% tax). It may take some time for me to get them to you and I can't guarantee the number of them I can find (on sale or not) but it will be much cheaper than buying them from someone else. I frequent most stores that carry LEGO once a week, so it won't be any trouble. I can also reduce packing materials to lessen the shipping cost if you don't need the sets MISB. Quote
languages Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I love X-PODs, So much in fact, that I entered the Xpodworld site competition earlier this year....and won! My prize was the american xpods signed by the designers (the purple, orange, lime green and light blue pods). I cant wait for more Xpods...they are so fun! Maybe licensed Xpods should be released (Harry potter, BATMAN!!!!!) You can view X-Podworld at: http://www.x-podworld.com/ (My model that I won with is near the bottom of the page, the green Snowboarder called CYBERBOARD) Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 I got the red X-pod a while ago (series 1) because I wanted the actual X-pod pieces (the package); and wednesday I picked up the other 3 from series 1 for 2 euros each :-D Quote
KimT Posted November 4, 2005 Author Posted November 4, 2005 Maybe licensed Xpods should be released (Harry potter, BATMAN!!!!!) That would be awesome. A pod with the ability to build a small batwing or even the sixties batmobile.... :oD I've been doing some uploading to my brickshelf gallery - but currently I can't find the disc with my own pod creations - so much for backup... :| My X-Pod gallery KimT Quote

JINZONINGEN73 Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Yeesh... looking at the online cost of aquiring them, I now feel validated in my HOARDING them from off the toy shelves so many months ago. Quote
gylman Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Bought 100 this week, at 2.50 Canadian (a bit less than 2$ US) each. Buy one get one free TRU. Too bad most were series 1, but got about a dozen series 2. Love those 1x1 slopes, teeth, and the trans-colour containers. Mostly gonna go into loot bags and birthday gifts, but more than a few will end up in my hoard :-D Quote
