KimT Posted November 6, 2005 Author Posted November 6, 2005 What kind of a Pod'er are You? - I can, at this moment, see 2 kind of Pod'ers. Those who construct models from one or more pods, but only using one pod of each colour and those who use several pods of any colour and quantity. I, myself, construct from one pod and try to make the most models from it. I have on few occasions used two or three pods of different colours. So in order for You to identify your pod-type to the rest of us, I suggest using the 2 following terms. Mono Pod MOC'er for those who uses one pod or one of each colour and Poly Pod MOC'er for those who uses a vast quantity of pods and several of each colour. WHICH KIND ARE YOU? sam89 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I prefer to make models out of just one pod. To me, the entire point of X-Pods seems to be that you have to build what you can out of a small selection of pieces. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 WHICH KIND ARE YOU? The kind that... that uses the pieces to smooth out OTHER mocs! Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 I buy them only for pieces too ;) Quote
KimT Posted November 6, 2005 Author Posted November 6, 2005 I prefer to make models out of just one pod. To me, the entire point of X-Pods seems to be that you have to build what you can out of a small selection of pieces. Yes it would seem so. The idea of bringing one's x-pod along and challenging friends in building the best model [xpod duel] seems to be the main theme in the x-pod series. Except for the small fact that all x-pod instructions have an extra instruction in the end, describing how to build a combo-pod model. So the plan, to me, seems to be that one can construct models from one or more xpods - the only "rule" is never to apply extra bricks. - This is also a thing that annoys me :/ since the idea obvious is to combine pods, why haven't an inventory sheet been added to each pod? This would make it a lot easier to reconstruct a pod after using it with others. Seems stupid that one has to either check the inventory on peeron.com or use the Play Off! game sheets if one has the game :| - Let's hope TLC adds an inventory for the next hacth :oD KimT Quote
gylman Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 My kids play with one or two pods at a time. I use them for parts. Quote
KimT Posted November 7, 2005 Author Posted November 7, 2005 The Play Off! game set is a great buy - five pods and a game :oD You sell it for 15USD - I say VERY CHEAP KimT Quote

languages Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 Am I the only x-pod crazed member on this site? And why don't we have discussions on those lovely little pods? *wub* *wub*. Some time ago I stumbled over a webpage dedicated to the pods:X-Pod World Do visit it. I am planning to upload pics of my xpod designs to my brickshelf page as soon as possible. I've currently uploaded pics of the Play Off" set and the coming pods (2006). - Which I must say are very good and I can't wait. Unfortunately the new pods (2005) are still unavailable in DK. (Praise the Lord for bricklink.com). So it might be a while before I've got new designs for those. KimT BTW: is that you languages who's posted pics on xpodworld? :) I love Xpods...thats why I won the contest over on the Xpodworld site...(yes CYBERBOARD is mine...) I just wish that they would release themed pods... Quote

The Middleman Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 I picked up the Dino pod the other day, loving the 1x1 black slopes. Quote
sam89 Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Here's some pics of the new X-Pods: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=156872 I think it looks like the best wave yet. Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Tks for the pics Sam !!!! I think I'll get some of them because they have great parts including slopes of several colors !!!!! Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted December 7, 2005 Posted December 7, 2005 Red and White pods are generous in weird parts. Blue and Green seriously skimp out on 1x1 slopes, but overall they're not too bad. Green loses, as far as assortment goes. Quote
KimT Posted January 3, 2006 Author Posted January 3, 2006 I've found some pics of the new xpods and thought that we could use them for a discussion on the new sets PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE NOT MY PICS - BUT FOUND ON BRICKSHELF First 2 pics of all the pods in packing and with "standard" model built: Then there's one of the AUTO inventory ROBOT inventory AERO inventory and finally DINOSAUR inventory I am very pleased with the new sets - especially I like the colours and the type and amount of bricks allow a lot of different models to be built - can't wait to get my hands on those pods :oD KimT EDIT: Could this thread be "pinned"? Would make it a lot easier to find and reduce the chance of other xpod threads. EDIT 2 That's the fastest ever - pinned almost before I've edited it - I just love EB Quote
sam89 Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I've finished building them all now, here's a little review of the main models: Auto Pod - The car is quite simple, but it looks cool with the colour scheme and the 1x1 slopes (10 in total - 6 red, 2 orange and 2 trans red). The is a bit of detail on the back, including headlights and a little grill. Dino Pod - The model in this set is also quite simplistically built, but it is effective. The use of the slope on the head is great. There's a couple of black 1x1 slopes in this set. Aero PodThis is very cool. I like the coulour scheme, and there are some good details such as the guns at the side and the engines on the wings and at the back. It's also quite bulky. Robo Pod - I think this is the pod with the most pieces out of this wave. The white and trans blue coulour scheme works perfectly, and th chrome highlights are good. I tried to rate them in an order, but I can't. They're all just as good as each other, so I can't decide between them. I think this might be the best X-Pod wave yet. Quote
