Wow, those Red wheels look really cool :sweet: I'll have to try that Modification on the steering. Hope you didn't do this Mod because of my criticism of the steering in the mini review  . Your steering does work very well already and it is a great design. By the way, what is that model in your avatar? Is that a new model? I don't see it at your website. :sceptic:

The Gold wheels also look very nice with the Red! Would you happen to have any extra that you would be willing to part with? :cry_sad:

Sorry, no extra Gold wheels...

Actually I was building a similar front suspension for someone and realized that it could be built slightly better by changing a few simple things around and figured that I would let everyone who may have downloaded the instructions know about modding the steering... Like I said, it works fine the way that it is, but this switch makes it just a bit better...

The model is a new smaller scale Chopped Hot Rod that I build for my Nephew who just turned 5...I wanted to build him something that was fairly Simple yet reliably constructed enough for him to play with... Yes, it is fairly basic with just steering, rear wheels moving the engine, and a working convertible top that raises and closes by turning a gear in the rear of the car... I tinkered around with it for about a month before I was happy with it... It can also be built in Yellow and Black... This is actually the first car model that I have built a convertible roof on... It actually works very well...

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

To whom it may concern...

The new black panels that are needed for the Black version of the Vampire GT are officially available through LEGO direct. I just ordered six pair of each.

Part #'s - 4558731, 4558774, 4558740, 4558775.

These are the black version of panels numbered 5, 6, 13, & 14. Finally we can all build the "correct" version of this awesome MOC!

Happy building!

Thanks for the heads-up, Camaro365! The all-black versions of Technic Panel #5 (Bricklink Bricklink 64681), #6 (64393), #13 (x1979), & #14 (x1980) will come in handy for many other MOCs too!

I find it strange that the #13 & #14 BLACK Technic Panels (from the 9397 Logging Truck set) are being sold by TLG in the USA now, while TLG has not released the actual 9397 SET on Shop.Lego.com in the USA.... :sceptic:

What's really strange is that the #13 & #14 have been available since early Feb., but the #5 & #6 have just recently become available.... :sceptic:

Thanks for the head's up. I ordered mine! (and plenty of extra)

If you remember last summer, you could order the 8110 Unimog parts a month earlier than the actual set released here in the States...

What is odd to me is the fact that some panels are a few cents different than their mirror counterparts...

Hi crowkillers,

Inspiration struck me on the way home today. 2 of these Light bricks part number 54604 accompanied by two of these cables x400c20 would look pretty awesome on the bottom of the Vampire GT.

It's Mo from Brisbane by the way - thanks for helping me out

Sigfried said I can't post links so the above are bricklink part numbers

@ mo_: You can probably gain some Eurobricks powers when you have at least 10 posts. Here are the hyperlinks and pictures of the Bricklink parts you suggested -- two 54604 "Electric, Light Brick 2 x 4 with Red LED" parts and two x400c20 "Electric, Fiber Optics Cable Wide 20L (Exo-Force)" parts:

Thanks for the assist DLuders - can you PM me I did some pricing analysis and need help posting it (you will want to see this)

@ Meatman - Thanks buddy, Yep neon lighting just like the pimped out street cars. The only question is Red, Blue or Green (Blue/Green would require a change in the LED...)

I have to admit that I have been wanting to do something like that for a LONG time... But just for a Lego show or something... The Black Vamp with Red Under Glow would absolutely Rock...! I did a Pimpin' Blue car a few Years back and the Tag line was "Neon Lighting Not Included" :classic:

@ mo_: I tried sending you a Private Message (PM), but "The member mo_ can not use the messaging system. This personal message has not been sent" (probably because you don't have the minimum of 10 Eurobricks posts). So, just send me an e-mail to LudersDG@MSN.com and I'll post your pricing analysis.

At long last, I finally got the new black panels to complete my Vampire. With those and the red chromed wheels, it really looks fantastic.

Can't wait to buid mine (I'm waiting for some last pieces I just ordered from BL few days ago, but still missing the 19L black hoses!)...!

BTW... where did you buy the red-chromed wheels?

Step 1: Make friends with Paul Boratko

Step 2: Send him money

I actually did contact him about them. He gave me the link where you guys get them done. Are they chromed on the inside as well or just the outside? Like if I wanted to get them for the 8070, is there chrome on the flipside? I was going to get some from chrome bricks, but they are only chromed on one side.

I also see that you have your front panels crossed differently.

Yes, they are chromed on both sides, so you could use them on 8070 or any other model which shows the reverse. I'm pretty sure you could request them to be chromed or masked wherever you want since it is custom work.

How is the quality of the colored chrome? It looks good on the monitor, but how is it overall? scratch? Peel? Flake? I know it is expensive and I wouldn't want to pay for something without knowing about the overall quality.

I'm not sure how the quality could get much better. Not only is it plated, but there is also a clear coat over the top of that so it is very well protected. This results in a fairly thick layer so sometimes you have to clean out the holes a bit to get pins to fit smoothly again. I haven't seen any peeling or flaking.

Well Eric... Looks like you got the first Legitimate Black Vampire completed... I am still waiting for my Panels...

@meatman

I wouldn't recommend taking the chrome wheels for a spin down an obstacle course in the woods mounted on a Trial Truck, but they will hold up just fine under normal play and display...
