swils Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 "Huzzah friends, we are halfway down! Now then, we can either go back to Shipwreck Shore, to the find the Black Pearl, in order to trade with the Necromancer for the Last Wish Powder, to get the undead unicron's horn. Or, we could journey to the Kalakita Bog, in order to get the water from Danab's fountain. If we're doing the later, I feel it may require stop off at the market, to buy some perfume to keep the Wyvern from attacking us." "Was real nice of Salome to give us the whole flower.. hope it does the trick. I hate havin' to be the bearer of bad news, especially when she and Zelda have such a history.. Mmm well, then. If the market's open at this hour, then we can certainly swing by. Else I'd say it's back to the shore for us."
Darkdragon Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 "Well that wasn't so bad, what a nice lady. Let's head back to the shore and find that pearl, my blisters are almost healed from the last round of digging anyway. If the sauk is open, we can stop by on the way."
Sandy Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 The party decides to visit the souk area to see if there are any merchants there during the night, but they find the place empty. Suddenly a dark figure in a skeleton mask approaches them. "You are looking for something special, yes?" the masked man whispers. "Just name what you desire, and I can get it for you - for a low price, of course. I am no genie, though, so do not ask for the impossible." What will the party answer to the shady man?
Professor Flitwick Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 "I'm not sure if I trust this gentleman, my fellow heroes. Should we show him the list of ingredients, and risk him knowing what we're up to?"
Darkdragon Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 "I'm not sure if I trust this gentleman, my fellow heroes. Should we show him the list of ingredients, and risk him knowing what we're up to?" ["No reason to show the whole list I think."] "Greetings stranger. We are in need of some Last Wish Powder and Demonic Dust. How much would you ask for that and how long would it take for you to procure?"
Sandy Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 "Greetings stranger. We are in need of some Last Wish Powder and Demonic Dust. How much would you ask for that and how long would it take for you to procure?" "Ah, so you are interested! It wasn't a mere coincidence that we met, after all..." the man in the skeleton mask mused. "Those are ominous items you seek, but not impossible to gain a hold of. I can get you a Last Wish Powder for 100 gold, and some Demonic Dust for 200 gold. It takes me a full night to get a hold of one item, so you can retrieve whichever item you choose here in two nights. Saves you the trouble of seeking them out for yourself, though. Naturally I require half of the price in advance, so that I don't waste my time getting you an item that you never come to collect. Now, how would a deal like this sound to you?" Will the party take on the skeletal man's offer?
Darkdragon Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 "I'd like to talk this over privately with my team, if you don't mind? It will only take us a moment to decide."
Professor Flitwick Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 "I'd like to talk this over privately with my team, if you don't mind? It will only take us a moment to decide." "Well, we could afford it, only if we pooled all of our funds together. I'm not sure of the likelihood of this brigand returning, but don't recall ever knowing where else to find the last wish powder." Thothwick relays the current situation to his Metasimin companion, Hopet, and asks what he thinks. ["Well, if he doesn't return, all you'll be losing is 150 gold, gold which can be replaced when the Zeigfrieds pay you upon completion of the Quest. It's the best chance we had to pick up some of these items. I say take him up on his offer.
Darkdragon Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Cinna speaks to her companions. "Well, the necromancer said he would give us the powder we need if we give him the pearl. The pearl is on the shore where we found the scorpion. We (well,I) just need to keep digging until the pearl is found. However, this deal will not get us the powder tonight which is what I was hoping we could do. The Demonic Dust I believe we are headed to the bog to collect, which would also make it free. It doesn't seem like he is going to save us any time by fetching either of these items for us. I'd like to hear more from the rest of the team before deciding."
swils Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 "Well, we've gotta go to the bog for the water, anyway, so I don't think havin' him get us the dust is a good investment. And the powder, well, diggin' aint so bad, as long as Cinnas doin all the work, haha! I think we should save our money."
Darkdragon Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Cinna nods and then turns back to the stranger. "Thank you for your offer, but it doesn't seem like it will save us any time right now. Do you happen to have a shovel on you right now that you'd be willing to sell?"
Sandy Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 "Do you happen to have a shovel on you right now that you'd be willing to sell?" The shady man is obviously disappointed. "I can get you a good shovel for 2 gold, but you'll have to wait two nights. But if you ever need me again, you'll find me here every other night. Just don't go telling the city guards..."
swils Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 "Only two gold pieces for a good shovel, hm? Okay, fine, I'll bite. Half up front, right?" He hands the man a gold coin
Professor Flitwick Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 "Only two gold pieces for a good shovel, hm? Okay, fine, I'll bite. Half up front, right?" He hands the man a gold coin "Er, Mr. Nihai, why would you do that? I would it not be rather unnecessary for us to wait that long before going back to Shipwreck Shore?"
Darkdragon Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 "I think it's time to head to the shore and find that pearl. We will stop back here in two nights to get your shovel."
swils Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 "Er, Mr. Nihai, why would you do that? I would it not be rather unnecessary for us to wait that long before going back to Shipwreck Shore?" "A shovel's a shovel, and 2 gold sounds like quite a deal. We'll be passing back through here anyway. Didn't mean to suggest we hold off on the shore until I got it, sorry 'bout the confusion."
Sandy Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 "Only two gold pieces for a good shovel, hm? Okay, fine, I'll bite. Half up front, right?"
