Professor Flitwick Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 "I don't think we have time for that today. I think we should head straight to the bogs to find that witch. If we can find her before Bluto dies, that would be most preferable. Don't you agree?" "I meant if we can do it tonight, we wouldn't have to waste time waste precious time doing it in another night. Mr. Nemesthar, do you know if we'd make it to the menagerie, and have time to get our undead unicorn horn, before sunrise?"
Sandy Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 "I meant if we can do it tonight, we wouldn't have to waste time waste precious time doing it in another night. Mr. Nemesthar, do you know if we'd make it to the menagerie, and have time to get our undead unicorn horn, before sunrise?" Nemeshtar just stares at the Metasimian in disbelief. "Who do you think I am, Father Time or something?" He then slams the door shut in front of the party, concluding the conversation. The party can go anywhere within the city tonight. If they travel to the Kalakita Bog, it will be dawn again.
Darkdragon Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 "I'd like to get to the bog as soon as possible, so we can get Bluto healed. I think that it will take us time to travel to the bog whether we go now or if we go to the manajerie first. My idea is that the unicorn can wait, but Bluto can not. I'd like to hear everyone's opinion though, before we decide. Of course as we decide, the clock is ticking."

"Well, whether we leave for the Bog now, or after going to the menagerie, Bluto will still be at the same stage of his illness. We can get one of the ingredients in this night, instead of wasting a day trying to get it."
swils Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 "Unless the good ol' hag decides to retire early for the evening, and we might end up having to wait til the next day... I'm with Cinna on this one."
Professor Flitwick Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 "Well, okay, but remember, it's not just young Master Ziegfried's life on the line here. Seeing as it'll be in the same night, I doubt his condition will worsen as we spend time at the menagerie collecting the Undead Unicorn horn. And regardless of whether we leave for the bog now, or after collecting the horn, it'll still be day when we reach the bog. I don't believe it would be wise for the group to split; there is a dangerous Wyvern in the bog, which we'd likely need to face as a full party, so it's not like we could split up."
Darkdragon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 "You make a good point there Thothwick. I'll wait to hear from Bartholomew and then decide."
Darkdragon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 "We will now make haste to the menagerie to find that rude unicorn."
Sandy Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 The party returns to Marmaduc's menagerie. Like the other night, the ogre guard is sound asleep on the gate again. The heroes still have the key and they sneak into the park without a problem. The unicorn stirs from his sleep as the party approaches his pen. "Neigh! <Oh bother, it's you again. I told you, I am not going to come with you, and if you try to take me by force, I will neigh and whinny with all my power so that that lazy guard at the gate will wake up and crush you!>" The party must now figure out how to get the uncooperative unicorn to consume the Last Wish Powder. There's a water pail and a bucket filled with oat inside the pen.
Brickdoctor Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Shall we pour the powder into one of the buckets?
Darkdragon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Shall we pour the powder into one of the buckets? "Yes, maybe he will tell you if he is thirsty or hungry. "
Brickdoctor Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I ask the unicorn if he's hungry or thirsty.
Sandy Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 I ask the unicorn if he's hungry or thirsty. "Whinny... <I'm neither. I consume what little I need to stay alive, other than that I find no joy in the act. They do not even feed me the apples that they give to the monkeys, just this dry oat. As if I was your common mule, can you believe that? Well, of course you can't. You are humans as well, you do not understand the suffering of other beings, let alone respect their independence.>"
Darkdragon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Cinna walks quietly over to the monkey cage to look for any uneaten apples.
Professor Flitwick Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 [i think if we put the powder in his food, he may unknowingly eat it. However, there is no knowing how long it would take for him to next get hungry, so in the mean time, we could space out the time by visiting the bog. By the time we come back, hopefully he'll of eaten it up, allowing us to fight for his horn] "Great idea Hopet. I think if you all agree with him, I should nominate myself to place the last wish powder in his water or food; being a Rogue I'm the stealthiest here"
Sandy Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 Cinna walks quietly over to the monkey cage to look for any uneaten apples. There's a basket full of apples inside the monkey cage. When Cinna tries to snatch one between the bars, a jealous monkey jumps towards her and almost bites her hand.
Darkdragon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 "Yipe. Careful monkey, you almost got me. I wish you could understand me, I just need one little apple. How about a trade for this shiny thing?" Cinna pulls out one shiny gold coin and tries to mime to the monkey that she would like an apple and in turn will give him the shiny coin. She is careful to keep the coin far away from the bars so that he can't grab it.
Brickdoctor Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I politely ask the monkeys if I can have one or two of their apples.

I politely ask the monkeys if I can have one or two of their apples. The monkey shrieks. "Oo-oo aa-aa!!! <No! My apples! Get your own!>"
swils Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 " 'Ey Docken, ask the monkey if he knows what 'collateral damage' is! Hah!" "I rather like Hoptet's idea, if we can't get any apples."
Darkdragon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 "Hmm. Can anyone use that harpoon of Bluto's? maybe we could spear the apple. Or maybe Thothwick could swipe one if we distract the monkey."
Professor Flitwick Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Or maybe Thothwick could swipe one if we distract the monkey." "Worth a try. Distract the monkey in three, two, one..."
Darkdragon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Cinna distracts the monkey with the gold coin, and trying to reach into the cage further away from the apples. She is pretending to try and reach for toys or other items (not poop) and is being very careful not to get bitten.

Cinna goes to the other end of the cage and tries to distract the monkey, while Thothwick stealthily approaches the apple basket. The monkey snorts at Cinna, grabs the basket and takes it further inside the cage, out of Thothwick's reach. Hoptet coughs remarkably.
