swils Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Thormanil approaches Sayid: "Hello, Sayid! Listen, I need a lot of Remedies. I mean, a lot. Twenty-four or so, actually. Now, I don't know if those are really a hot seller for ya, but we're offerin' you a chance to really move some products today. Let's talk price. I'm thinking something closer to 10, maybe 12 gold per Remedy, at such a large quantity as this. Can ya do that for me? Or perhaps I need to take my business over to Akbar's stall?"

Sayid bows deeply. "I am honored that you have decided to take your business to me, sahibs, instead of that two-timing scoundrel Ackbar. I can indeed offer you my remedies for 12 gold each, just for my loyal customers. How many did you say you would take?"
swils Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 "We'll be needing 24, I think, unless Ms. Cinna cares to donate her own. Though, I'd hold onto that one, never know, might need an extra." Thormanil empties his coinpurse into Sayid's hands, totaling 84 gold. "I've got a gold bar here as well, that I'd part with for a reasonable credit towards the purchase. Any charges beyond that, you'll have to collect from my friends."
Sandy Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 Sayid smiles widely as Thormanil pours gold into his hands. "Pleasure doing business with you, sahib! And that gold bar is worth 50 gold." Sayid trades Thormanil 11 remedies for 82 gold and the gold bar (a total worth of 132 gold). Brickdoctor Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Should've gone to Akbar's and told him that Sayid was selling for 12 Gold. See if Akbar would beat that price. Though knowing Akbar, it would be a trap.
Darkdragon Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 "What do you think guys, should we get some extra Remedies just in case? That tricky witch might have giving us the wrong info - after all she said two dozen should be enough. Anyone else want to do some shopping while we are here?"
Professor Flitwick Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 "What do you think guys, should we get some extra Remedies just in case? That tricky witch might have giving us the wrong info - after all she said two dozen should be enough. Anyone else want to do some shopping while we are here?" "Good idea, Ms. Cinna. It wouldn't be the first time that foul woman lied to use. Shall I purchase about six more?" "Mr. Akbar? That Mr. Sayid is selling Remedies at just 12 gold pieces. Can you beat that price?"
swils Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Thormanil pulls Thothwick aside before Akbar can reply. In a hushed tone, he suggests: "Thothy, I'd be careful tryin to pit the vendors against each other. Sayid did say he was giving us this price for being loyal customers, and I doubt he'd take too kindly to us going over to Akbar after cutting us that deal. On the other hand, we seem to be nearing the end of our travels here, and already have the two dozen Remedies we supposedly need... so I'll leave this one up to you."
Sandy Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 "Good idea, Ms. Cinna. It wouldn't be the first time that foul woman lied to use. Shall I purchase about six more?" "Mr. Akbar? That Mr. Sayid is selling Remedies at just 12 gold pieces. Can you beat that price?" Akbar smiles so widely that his golden tooth glitters. "I can always beat the prices of that greedy pennypincher Sayid! What are you offering for these top-quality remedies?"
Professor Flitwick Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 "Lets say, 10 gold each? I'm positive you could make that offer. And I'll take six, so thats 60 gold for six Remedies?"
Sandy Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 Akbar nods his head enthusiastically as he takes 60 gold from Thothwick in exchange for six remedies. He and the other merchants would get a good laugh over the water pipe this evening on the foreigners' expense. Akbar couldn't believe how bad they were at haggling. Party: Bartholomew Docken (played by Brickdoctor) Level 18½ Ranger *scary* Power: 23 Health: 29/29 Gold: 129 Inventory: Mockthril Longbow (WP:5), Dread Hat (enemies lower than half of wearer's level won't attack directly), Scarab Shield (SP:5, unsuitable), Mead, 2 Deadly Venoms, Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Crystal Chalice Cinna the Dark (played by darkdragon) *Party Leader* Level 16 Mage Power: 21 Defence: 2 Health: 20/20 Ether: 20/20 Gold: 84 Inventory: Nimbus Broomstick (WP:5, ranged), Pongcanis Mage Staff (WP:5), Shadeaux Staff (WP:4), Aurora Helmet (SP:2, null fire), Amethyst (Darkness), Scroll of Sleep, 6 Grand Potions, Tonic, 14 Remedies, 2 Smelling Salts, 2 Deadly Venoms, Bedroll, Shovel, Golden Scorpion Venom, Undead Unicorn's Horn, Demonic Dust, Last Wish Powder Thormanil Nihai (played by swils) Level 16½ Barbarian Power: 29 Defence: 3 Health: 23/23 Gold: 2 Inventory: Wyvern's Tailblade (WP:12), Thundering Shadeaux Axes (WP:6, lightning-elemental), Tongue on a Stick (WP:1, Miss>Aim), Dull Greataxe (WP:3), Sabre (WP:8, not suitable), Bright Armor (SP:3, null darkness), 2 Potions, 11 Remedies, Phoenix Essence, Mead, 2 Deadly Venoms, Shovel, Pickaxe Thothwick (played by Professor Flitwick) Level 12½ Rogue Power: 20 (17 for ranged attacks) Health: 23/23 Gold: 288 Inventory: Sabre (WP:8), Chain Whip (WP:6), Shuriken (WP:5, ranged, retrievable), 6 Remedies, Venom, 2 Deadly Venoms, Bedroll, Telescope Hoptet (NPC, controlled by Professor Flitwick) Level 19 Druid Power: 22 Health: 26/26 Ether: 10/20 Gold: 0 Inventory: Quarterstaff (WP:3), Stick (WP:1), Nocturne Amorella
swils Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 While walking away from the stalls and feeling pretty good about having lopped off nearly half the price of the remedies, Thormanil overheard the merchants chuckling amongst themselves about their latest sale. This left him not only embarrassed, but annoyed and taken advantage of. Sure, he'd paid more gold here than he would have back in Eubric for the Remedies, but that was just the market here, wasn't it? He'd gotten almost half the price.. wasn't that good? No, he had been played for a fool, yet again on this journey. His pockets empty, he considered returning to the stalls and roughing up the merchants, but decided against it. The group had gotten into enough trouble in Salmanda already, and were on a tight schedule. He decided to pay the Copper Fox a visit when he finally returned to Eubric, and get the veteran's thoughts on pursuing a "Take from the rich, give to myself" lifestyle.
