Shall we return to the fountain?

Will the party return directly to the fountain, or try another path through Kalakita Bog?

heroicaquest14-kalakitamap.jpg

Posted

I don't see any reason not to take a different path. I guess there could be some sort of huge enemy that would Knock us all Out, but I do still have a Smoke Bomb.

Posted

OoC: I woke up earlier to let you guys move on with this.

The party heads out of the city once again.

~FIFTH NIGHT IN SALMANDA~

Upon reaching the entrance to Kalakita Bog, Djuvali is nowhere to be seen. The Cobra Priest must have left for his homeland already. The party decides to venture deeper into the bog in search of Baba's lost broomstick. At the entrance they turn to the east, and when they come to the first crossing they go straight south. At the next crossing they find a huge red flowerbud. The heroes approach it, and suddenly it opens up to reveal gaping jaws filled with razor-sharp teeth emanating a putrid gas. Two female creatures jump howling down from the surrounding trees and encircle the party.

Cinna, would you prefer that I go after a Bog Nymph or the Mantrap? I have high Power, but neither my advantages in high HP and my Dread Hat are effective against a one-hit Knock Out.

For now, I attack Bog Nymph (Pink) from the Back Row.

>Bartholomew vs. Bog Nymph (Pink) - Hit

Thormanil vs. Mantrap - Damage

>Thothwick (Shuriken) vs. Mantrap - Hit

>Hoptep vs. Mantrap - Special Guard (Fail)

The battle in the dense undergrowth begins. Cinna gets damaged by the green Bog Nymph and loses 3 health thanks to the protection provided by her helmet. Bartholomew hits the pink nymph for 23 damage. The attack of the Mantrap causes 15 damage to the armoured Thormanil. Thothwick's shuriken flies true and hits the Mantrap for 17 damage. However, the Mantrap then devours poor Hoptet, restoring itself to full health and removing the druid from the battle. The monstrous flower happily munches on the Metasimian as the battle continues.

All three enemies remain, but the heroes are one member short.

I assume that this means the Mantrap can't eat anyone until it spits Hoptet out.

OoC: Yes, the specials alternate. I seem to have forgotten to mention that... Take note that the devoured party member is temporarily removed from the battle, so you cannot heal or revive him or target him with anything until he is "spit out".

>Bartholomew vs. Mantrap - Damage

Thormanil vs. Bog Nymph (Pink) - Extra Critical Hit

Thothwick vs. Mantrap - Damage

Enraged to see her new friend gulped down by the flowery monster, Cinna's magic powers go to overdrive, resulting in a magic burst that causes 21 damage to Mantrap and 42 damage to both nymphs for their humanoid type. The Mantrap then attacks Bartholomew for 9 damage. Thormanil's extra critical attack makes quick work out of the pink bog nymph as it deals 53 damage. The Mantrap also manages to damage Thothwick as well, dealing full 18 damage and leaving the rogue on the verge of getting knocked out.

Cinna hands the Briar Bow to Bartholomew, 1 Floral Bomb to Thormanil, and 1 Floral Bomb to Thothwick. She checks searches her bag but closes it empty-handed.

"I don't have anything to cure Hoptet. We must continue on, but we will need to carry him. It's not safe to leave him here. Based on the map we could head towards the center of the bog down that path, or keep heading to the fountain. I'd prefer the fountain directly, but what do you guys think?"
