The_Customizer Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hmm, it appears as though there are no more pirates nearby, lets continue forward, or should we take the staircase?
ADHO15 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 "I suggest taking the right path." EDIT: ...the path on the right. "And thank you for returning my gold, Eric. Good work, everyone."
Khorne Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 "We will go right. I think we've covered most of this floor. Let's check out the remaining halls and then move up."
Sandy Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 The party decides to turn right after the next corner, but they catch a glimpse of a room with a group of pirates and a locked door on the other hallway. Turning right, they find themselves at some sort of docks inside a large cave. There's cargo loads and a long pier, but no ships at sight. A group of pirates is standing at the other end of the pier with a cannon, with their backs turned on the party. Ahead the party sees another locked door and the bars of a jail. What will the party do next?
Khorne Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Eric opened up a bottle of mead. "Let's check out the locked door next. The one close to the jail. Maybe Hybros can pick it open". He put the drink to his lips and downed it in one chug.
Sandy Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Eric opened up a bottle of mead. "Let's check out the locked door next. The one close to the jail. Maybe Hybros can pick it open". He put the drink to his lips and downed it in one chug. The locked door is sturdy and heavy. The brass lock is a complex contraption unlike anything that Hybros or the other heroes have ever seen. Hybros deduces that it works on gears and axles, but does not figure a way to pick it.
ADHO15 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 "I shall search the pirate's cargo whilst the others examine the door."
The_Customizer Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Can we sneak past the pirates on the pier, and head to the jail? I think we should....
Khorne Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Can we sneak past the pirates on the pier, and head to the jail? I think we should.... We tried, the jail is locked. The locked door is sturdy and heavy. The brass lock is a complex contraption unlike anything that Hybros or the other heroes have ever seen. Hybros deduces that it works on gears and axles, but does not figure a way to pick it. "Maybe we should fight the pirates on the pier to gain the key to the jail? I'm only guessing here, but it's the only thing I can come up with right now. Either that or head upstairs." Eric said. He felt the power of the Mead pulsating through his veins, making him stronger.
Sandy Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 "I shall search the pirate's cargo whilst the others examine the door." Ad-Hoh peeks into some of the crates on the big pile, and sees all sorts of metal plates, wires, gears and gadgets. All the crates have a trident symbol stamped on them. What on earth would pirates do with metal junk? Can we sneak past the pirates on the pier, and head to the jail? I think we should.... OoC: You already have...
JimBee Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 "Hm, this lock seems to need a key..." Hybros said, heart still pounding from the boosters. "I think we should fight the pirates over there on the pier, it seems like they might have a key. And thank you for the Grand Potion, by the way Eric."
The_Customizer Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Hmm, perhaps we can use a pickaxe, or something to remove the door?
Sandy Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 Hmm, perhaps we can use a pickaxe, or something to remove the door? A pickaxe does not work either. The door is very, very sturdy, as if it was enforced with metal.
The_Customizer Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Hmm, it seems that we will need some keys, or something to continue our quest. Any ideas guys?
Khorne Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 "Let's fight the pirates on the pier, maybe they have the key. If they don't have it, I guess Jolly Roger will hold the key."
Fred Fred Burger Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Yes the Pier sounds like our only real choice. And for future reference the only way to get through a locked door is with a key, I really don't see the need to go through the "can we use all our other items that don't open doors to open it" thing for every locked door we come across:tongue:.
Sandy Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 Yes the Pier sounds like our only real choice. OoC: If you look at the picture I provided again, you'll see another group of pirates that you can battle, and you have not even checked the jail yet.
JimBee Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 "Let's check the jail then. I'll try to open it, if we're on the inside."
Khorne Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 OoC: If you look at the picture I provided again, you'll see another group of pirates that you can battle, and you have not even checked the jail yet. OoC: We haven't checked the jail yet? I thought the reinforced wooden door was part of the jail. Sorry, my bad folks . Realizing the party hadn't actually checked the jail yet, Eric directed his companions towards the jail. Maybe this door would be more simple and Hybros could pick it open.
JimBee Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 "I do not think I can pick the lock, Eric. We definitely need a key to open it." The blue cone denotes the party, while the red cones depict enemy parties. Green cones are neutral NPCs. The enemies will spot the party if they move within three squares from the enemy, although the enemies cannot see around corners. Brown boxes symbolize chests and crates that can contain useful items. Open frames are doors which can be freely moved through, but closed doors either need a key to unlock or be opened from the opposite side. Jail doors always need a key to open. Beware of possible traps as well.
Where will the party move now?
Khorne Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 "Okay, Hybros friend, thanks for reminding me. So, I say we try to peek through the jail bars to see who's inside. Afterwards we can kill the pirates and check their corpses for keys. Sounds like a plan?" The party would like to peek through the jail bars.
The_Customizer Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Wait a minute, shouldn't we check those boxes on the right side? (If they are boxes) And I think the jail door needs a key.
Khorne Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Wait a minute, shouldn't we check those boxes on the right side? (If they are boxes) And I think the jail door needs a key. "Ad-Hoh checked the crates already. Nothing special 'cept the trident marking on all of them. I know the jail needs a key, but it can't hurt to see who or what's inside, can it?" Eric smirked.
Sandy Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 The party moved closer to the bars of the jail, and saw that it was empty aside from a heavy chest lying in one corner. Trying the door, the heroes found it locked tight. They also tried to reach for the chest in between the bars, but it was too far away. Will the party face the pirates on the pier now, or return to the hallways?
