JimBee Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Hybros gestures to Christopher again, signaling him to kneel down so Hybros can whisper in his ear. Realizing he doesn't know what to do, he addresses the entire party. "If we tell her they attacked us, she'll know we're intruders. Could we say they were... malfunctioning?"
The_Customizer Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Yeah, I believe saying they malfunctioned would work, or the fact that we are new, and I guess they didn't recognize us, so they attacked us, we were simply defending ourselves.
Sandy Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 OoC: As I went over your inventories, I noticed that you're still holding on to the Greasy Sausage, The_Customizer. You do realize that it would give you an extra two health permanently if you'd just eat it.
The_Customizer Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 (edited) OoC: As I went over your inventories, I noticed that you're still holding on to the Greasy Sausage, The_Customizer. You do realize that it would give you an extra two health permanently if you'd just eat it. Umm, I knew that! Also, shouldn't we all go up 1 rank from that battle? You guys have fun talking to whats-her-name, I am going to enjoy this delicious sausage! Edited February 11, 2012 by The_Customizer
Sandy Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 OoC: No, the stats are correct. After reaching Level 10, you only gain half of a level from each battle. After Level 20 you'll gain third of a level and so forth. Erdathcath suddenly smells something rottening in her bag. She finds the greasy sausage that the pirate chef dropped. She takes a bite out of it and decides it's still edible. As they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so when Erdathcath gulps the sausage down she gains two extra points to her maximum health permanently. Etzel Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 To the rest of the party: "I say we stop this charade and take the doctor as hostage, she admits to have created those evil machines that caused us so much trouble. Maybe she can give us useful information if we hrmm... persuade her a bit."
Khorne Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 The party had wandered through the fortress long enough. Soon, the Bonaparte attack would be over and the targets aren't still anywhere near in sight. Eric looked at the weary party, they were all tired. The long Automaton battle and certainly hit one of Eric's nerves. He was frustrated. This needed to end. "I need a drink" the Nord said. He grabbed on of the rum bottles they had taken from the pirates and took a hefty sip, halfing the bottles contents. As he was chugging, an interesting idea hit the scene. From the normally ever so-gently Clerice, Maurice. Eric put down the bottle and wiped his mouth with the back of his hands. He smirked and glanced at the professor. "I like your thinking, monk." The Nord jolted forward, faster than anyone would imagine, given his imposing stature. He grabbed hold of the professor and before she could utter a word, he had laid his hand over her mouth. "So guys, let's get our objectives straight. First, we need to find Jolly Roger. To do that we need the password to his room, a password which Legonardo has. Second, we should look out for Reno, the admiral's brother. We have no idea where he is at." Eric unsheathed Godricsleif and put the blade to the scientists neck. "Answer the questions, or I'll kill you. Yell and I'll kill you. You know what, don't try anything stupid or do anything I don't like, or I'll kill you. And believe me, miss, I will do it. You're a sad, pathetic human. Relying on magic and animated piles of metal to do your work. You have no honour, no self-respect. I loathe your kind." the Barbarian spat. "Where do they keep the prisoners here? Do you know of any special prisoners? Where is Legonardo, what route does he take to head to Jolly Roger?" he barked at the woman. He turned to the party "any other questions you'd like to ask?"
Sandy Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 "Where do they keep the prisoners here? Do you know of any special prisoners? Where is Legonardo, what route does he take to head to Jolly Roger?" he barked at the woman. He turned to the party "any other questions you'd like to ask?" Dr. Gioconda froze as she felt Eric's blade on her throat. Tears swelled up her eyes. "Y-you're intruders, aren't you? Spies of Admiral Bonaparte... I've been such a blind fool. T-there is only one prisoner that I know of here, a strange fellow locked in a cell downstairs. You'll need to find the jailer and make him give you the keys in order to reach him, though. Monsignore Legonardo is visiting Jolly Roger currently, so he is behind the door you wish to breach. I swear I do not know the password, but I do know that if you get it wrong the defensive system in the door will scorch you. Jolly Roger made it significantly clear that he did not want the door to be connected to that control panel like the automata and the cannons were. Please, I don't know anything else... Don't kill me..."
Fred Fred Burger Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Well so much for diplomacy. Sorry about the deceit Dr.Giocondo, but we've got a mission to accomplice . Well I guess our next move needs to be to find the Password, however we do that.
The_Customizer Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Well, this is a wonderful turn of events! Perhaps, we can use this "technique" on the prison guard, as well as on Legonardo.
Sandy Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 The party decides to check the corridor where the automata and Dr. Gioconda had come from, but found nothing but a small storage room where they must've kept the metallic men. The door at the end lead back to the long hallway with the laboratories, the dorm and the large door that required a password to open. Where would the party head next? Back towards the stone staircase, or forward to the wooden staircase leading up? Or perhaps somewhere else?
JimBee Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hybros watched as Eric threatened the professor. He would've never thought of something as unsubtle as that, but it worked. The professor spilled the information they needed. "I think we should head back to the stone staircase. Wasn't there another way we could've gone?"
Sandy Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 The female scientist shivered in Eric's grasp. "W-what are you going to do with me? I promise I'll keep my mouth shut about your presence if you just let me go and return to my work..."
The_Customizer Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I saw we keep this scum with us, who knows who might find her, plus, she may know the location of legonardo, or a way to get to him....
Sandy Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 I saw we keep this scum with us, who knows who might find her, plus, she may know the location of legonardo, or a way to get to him.... "Scum?! Me?! I have studied under the great Vincent Legonardo himself, and the only reason I am in this stinking hellhole is because of my devotion to monsignore. And did you not pay attention to what I said? Monsignore is in a meeting with Jolly Roger right now, so if you want to find either of them you have to go through that door. I really hope you get the password wrong so the lasers will disintegrate you all into particles..." Eric tightens his grasp on Dr. Gioconda, making her wince in pain.
Etzel Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 "Maybe I can put her to sleep with my scroll. She doesn't seem very strong so she would probably sleep through all the night then, right?" OoC: Right?
The_Customizer Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 You give females a bad name. If you cared about what really matters in this world, you would not be working for jolly Roger, no matter who is in charge. Now, please give us a reason to let you go, otherwise until then, I believe it is safe to say that you will be stuck with us for a little while. Do you agree Eric?
Khorne Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 "I can't just let you walk off and continue your job" Eric said as he took another swig of rum with his free hand. "Those machines should've never been built. They're abominations, destroyers of beautiful traditions. How can a man truly obtain glory from battle if his opponent isn't even human? There is no honour in slaying a machine or be slain by one. Helvetia does not receive the weak in her Eternal Hall. Only those who died a true death on the battlefield, facing a living opponent. Same goes for your cannons, only a weakling would wield such a weapon in battle, too afraid to face their opponent face to face." Eric was visibly angered by the very thought of engineering the robots and magical cannons. He turned to Hybros. "We head to the stone staircase. Lead the way, companion". Eric let the scientist go free of his grip. "You're coming with us, on the same conditions I imposed upon you earlier. Anything stupid and die. Now start walking." The Nord brutishly pushed the scientist forward, keeping his sword unsheathed, ready to act when necessary.
JimBee Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Hybros nodded to Eric. He didn't necessarily agree with taking the professor hostage, but they didn't have much choice besides to kill her. Hybros would've done it, but did she really deserve it? She was acting only under orders, she was not the evil at work here. Hybros leads the way to the stone staircase.
Sandy Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 You give females a bad name. If you cared about what really matters in this world, you would not be working for jolly Roger, no matter who is in charge. "So you Heroica types are somehow more noble? You work for whoever pays the most! At least I am loyal to my mentor. Besides, you don't seem to have any idea what kind of tyrants you are serving as we speak. The Bonapartes control the waters around Uland, collecting tolls from everyone wishing to do legal business there. They are the ones taking "free" out of the Free Islands, while the Ji Pei have done nothing..." The doctor is silenced by a forceful shove by Eric. The party and their hostage walk back to the stone staircase they ascended. Down the long corridor, past the stone staircase, they see a hall with a group of pirates loudly pondering on what to do about the malfunctioning cannons. Further ahead there is another, metallic staircase, leading up and down. The hallway ends to another door that doesn't seem to be locked. If the party advances along the corridor, the group of pirates at the cannons will surely notice them.
The_Customizer Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 This "doctor" as she calls herself is just as brainwashed as the rest of these pirates, the sooner we are out of here the better. Also, we should probably sneak past these pirates up ahead, if we can.
Khorne Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 "I never said we were noble. You're right, we do work for the highest bidder. What we do ain't nice at times, but someone's got to do it. I couldn't care less about the goals and behaviour of the Bonapartes. It's a general rule in life that the weak perish and the strong live on. Jolly Roger and his bunch of idiot pirates are weak and they will perish." Eric said bitterly. He then turned to Erdathcath "We can't sneak past them, they're too close, they'll surely spot us. If we want to go to that stairs we'll have to fight." Eric took out his last bottle of mead and drank it to the bottom. "If the gods won't help me, the mead will" he grinned.
The_Customizer Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Eric, do you have an extra bottle of mead that I could use? (I'll buy you a new one afterward the quest) I just have a feeling we will be going against a cannon.....
Khorne Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 "No, I just drank my last bottle. I'll need to stock up on this heavenly drink once we get back to Eubric."
The_Customizer Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 "No, I just drank my last bottle. I'll need to stock up on this heavenly drink once we get back to Eubric." Yeah, me too, never realized how good it is! So, are we going to attack those pirates now?
