JimBee Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Frozen again... Hybros was getting irritated at his inability to fight. He would've especially liked to have acted this round since Christopher's shield would protect him.... OOC: Sandy, you're taking the lucky effect into account, right? I don't remember if you do this, but I showed the results of both dice in my quest for lucky characters. And, if Christopher's Sentinel position is protecting the party, and Ad-Hoh attacks me, what would happen? I've read the R&D thread.
The_Customizer Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Poor Hybros, don't worry, we will free you, just let us take off some damage from this beast first. I shall attack the Pirate Jailor from the Back Row!
Sandy Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 OOC: Sandy, you're taking the lucky effect into account, right? I don't remember if you do this, but I showed the results of both dice in my quest for lucky characters. And, if Christopher's Sentinel position is protecting the party, and Ad-Hoh attacks me, what would happen? I've read the R&D thread. OoC: I'm so sorry, I did totally forget to roll twice for you... Let's me edit the results. Please resend your actions for round two, everyone. Results of Round One of the Jailor Battle: Eric vs. Pirate Jailor - Shield (Frenzy) >Hybros (Shuriken of Mercutio) vs. Pirate Jailor - Special Damage/Hit >Hybros (Throwing Knife) vs. Pirate Jailor - Hit/Critical Hit >Ad-Hoh (Darkness) vs. Pirate Jailor - Special Damage >Erdatcath vs. Pirate Jailor - Aim Christopher vs. Pirate Jailor - Shield (Sentinel) >Maurice vs. Pirate Jailor - Miss Eric starts the battle by going into a frenzy, dealing 24 damage to the jailor. The lucky Hybros throws both the Shuriken of Mercutio and his Throwing Knife, the first dealing 36 damage and the second 41 damage. The jailor then tries to cast the cage on Ad-Hoh, but the mage's robe protects him. Erdathcath aims at the enemy for 5 damage. Christopher takes upon the Sentinel-position, protecting everyone from damage during the next round. Maurice's encouraged attack misses. The enemy is still strong. Enemy: Pirate Jailor Type: Humanoid, Mechanic Level: 22 Health: 362/468 Ether: 5/6 Special I: Ethereal Cage – The Jailor spends one ether to trap the target into a magical cage that prevents it from taking an action for the duration of the battle unless the cage is broken by an elemental attack. ADHO15 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 "Ah, that is better. I shall try again to attack the Pirate Jailor from the back row with Darkness."
Etzel Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 The missed swing with his mace made Maurice very dizzy and he hallucinated about a far worse scenario of the battle than it really was, thankfully his head was clearing now. "I will attack the Pirate Jailor from the front row."
JimBee Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 No problem, thanks for fixing it. Hybros, feeling much more confident, attacks the Jailor from the front row with Zoot's Reaper, with both of his turns..
The_Customizer Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Well, seems like we aren't so bad off after all! I shall still attack the Pirate Jailer from the Back Row.
Khorne Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Eric got a bad case of déja vu. Were the drinks getting to his head? Eager to take down the jailor, he charged again. Eric will attack from the front row, using Godricsleif. Battle Order: Eric Hybros Hybros Ad-Hoh Erdathcath Christopher Maurice

The Pirate Jailor encloses Eric into an ethereal cage, preventing him from participating in the battle unless he is freed by an elemental attack. Hybros mugs the jailor not once, but twice in a row, causing a total of 132 damage and earning 132 gold from the strikes. The jailor then tries to cage Ad-Hoh as well, but his robe protects him again. Erdathcath shoots three arrows into the jailor, causing a total of 54 damage. However, Christopher is put into an ethereal cage as well. Seeing two of his companions incapacitated, Maurice makes a desperate lunge at the jailor, dealing 36 damage. The enemy is much weaker now, but the party is also two members down. Etzel Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 "Right, now would be a good time throwing a bomb to release our friends. Erdathcath, will you do us the honour? I will attack the Jailor again, but this time from the back row."
The_Customizer Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I shall gladly use a Ice Bomb to help our team get freed from the cages.
JimBee Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 After a highly successful round, Hybros thinks it might be a better idea to first retrieve his throwing weapons, and throw his knife from the back row, and not try his luck. The ice bomb would also weaken him while freeing his allies. OoC: Sorry for being picky again, but I think you calculated the mugs wrong. Let me check my math here: WP: 10 x3 = 30 + 13 = 43 x2 (encouraged) = 86 86 + 86 = 172 ...I think that's right. Or did you multiply in a different order? Also, how is the Jailor's ether calculated? You said 1 ether per cage but he has spent 4.
Fred Fred Burger Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Dang it, Frozen good luck without me guys.
Khorne Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 As the Ethereal Prison started forming around him, Eric panicked. He never liked being confined to small spaces, he much preferred the great outdoors. His relative freedom was one of the last thins he had left, something he cherished the most. Now, that, too, was taken from him. Like a caged bear he roared and raged, trying to break the Ethereal bars of the cage. Each time he tried to do so, however, he got zapped by the magical powers of the cage. He did not relent, and stood back up every time he got zapped down. The trapped Nord turned to the party and yelled "Throw the bomb, I can take it! Get me out of here!" Battle Order: Erdathcath Ad-Hoh Hybros Hybros Eric Christopher Maurice

OoC: Encouraged-effect only affects normal hits, not the critical bonus (that's how I've calculated it this whole time, at least), so it's 10+13 = 23 x2 = 46 + (10 x2) = 66 + 66 = 132. I don't know if for clarity's sake the mead should also affect the critical bonus as well... And the jailor spent two ether in vain in trying to cage Ad-Hoh.

Once again the jailor tries to capture Ad-Hoh, but fails. Hybros does another double-mugging, causing 132 damage and scoring 132 more gold. The_Customizer Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Well, not exactly inthe best of condition, but I think it was worth it. I agree, downstairs is the best way for right now.

I always did it so the encouraged effect included everything, but this way works too. "Thank you Maurice, eheh." With his wallet heavy with gold, Hybros followed the party to the jail. Hopefully Reno was still in one piece...
Khorne Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Eric looked at Hybros' pockets, filled to the brim with gold. "You lucky little rascal. Well done, friend!" he said as he patted the little imp on the back. "Now let's go check out those jail cells and find Reno"

Etzel Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 "Oh right, there were no prisoners in this jail." Maurice scans his memory to come up with some alternatives. "I think we should either return up the stone staircase and then the metal staircase, or we could take the wooden staircase on this floor, take the left corridor and then end up here: We could then fight those pirates and continue up to the next level via that wooden staircase. We will end up on the third level no matter which way we take."
Sandy Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 We will end up on the third level no matter which way we take." OoC: The metallic staircase leads up and down from the second floor. There is also one door that is yet unlocked on the first floor: You've already defeated the pirates standing in front of the door, but you needed the Bronze Key to open the door.
