Sandy Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 OoC: I'm moving the quest on, but I still need Khorne to divvy up the loot. As the party approaches the jail cell, the prisoner locked within it stands up and dashes to the bars holding him in. There is a large backpack leaning against the wooden bench inside the cell. "Finally, I'm starving! I thought nobody was coming to feed me today! How long are you going to keep me locked in here, anyway? I have told you over and over again, this bag only opens to me, and it always reappears to my side even if you take it to the other side of the world. It is enchanted that way, do you get it? No matter how long you keep me here, you will not get your filthy hands on my wares! They are for paying customers only, not for ragtag pirates!" The party stares at the ranting greenskinned man. He looks vaguely orcish, but he is definitely not a full-blooded one. How will the party reply.
Etzel Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 "That can't be Reno, can it?" Maurice says to his party comrades and then turns to the strange creature. "Hey you! Have you seen any other prisoners? Or do you know if there are other cells around here?"
JimBee Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 "I don't believe that is Reno... we could ask him though," Hybros murmurs to Maurice. "He seems harmless, we ought to free him." "Hello there. I'm Hybros, who are you? And I'd be interested in what you have in that bag there... not to steal, of course."
Sandy Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 "Hey you! Have you seen any other prisoners? Or do you know if there are other cells around here?" "What are you blathering on about? You should know who you've got imprisoned here, this is your damn fortress! I just happened to get on a wrong ship from Newharbour... This ain't no Eubric, that much I can tell. And I just wanted to pay my momma a visit." "Hello there. I'm Hybros, who are you? And I'd be interested in what you have in that bag there... not to steal, of course." "Wait a minute, so you are not pirates after all? That's swell, now can you get me out of here? I am no more and no less than Sham Poo, the Vagrant Merchant. Pleased to make your acquaintance! I tell you what; if you release me, I can give you a browse through my wares. They are all top-notch products, I can tell you. Very rare and extremely exquisite."
Etzel Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 "Hm, can we be sure this is no pirate scum trick? I don't like the looks of this fellow."
JimBee Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 "What do we have to lose? We've fought through so many pirates already, I don't think this is simply a trick. Let's free him."
Sandy Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Hybros snatches the jail key from Eric and unlocks the prison cell. "Thank you, kind strangers! It is rare that I encounter such friendliness in my travels. Now I am free to continue my way to Eubric, but I swear I will never hitch a ride from a Bonaparte again. JimBee Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hybros nods. "I understand that most of these items are much cheaper in Eubric. And we did rescue you... don't you think you could lower the prices a little? How about 45 gold for a Phoenix Essence?"
Sandy Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Hybros nods. "I understand that most of these items are much cheaper in Eubric. And we did rescue you... don't you think you could lower the prices a little? How about 45 gold for a Phoenix Essence?" Sham whips up an expression full of despair and agony to his face. "Oh I would love to give you even a bigger discount, but poor old me has been rotting in that cell for weeks, feeding on rats and licking the salt off the stonewalls. I have to catch up with the income I've lost during that time, you must understand that. What would momma say if I returned to her empty-handed..."
JimBee Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 "I see. Well then, I'll take a Phoenix Essence, two Potions, a Grand Potion, and two Remedies..." Hybros counts out the amount due. "Here's 110 gold." He then turns to the party. "I suggest you all invest in some supplies as well. If the merchant runs out and you need something, you can just get it from me."
Etzel Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 "We could really need a Phoenix Essence for coming battles, but 66 gold? That is expensive." Maurice reluctantly realize that he is responsible for the healing in the party and pays the steep price the halfblood is demanding for 1 Phoenix Essence.
JimBee Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 "Wait a minute..." Hybros snatches his outstretched hand full of gold back. "Sham... you're Scheherazade's child, are you not?" OoC: Cancel that purchase of mine.
Sandy Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 "Yes, I am. Oh, how I miss my dear old momma... Do you know her? Are you guys from Heroica, then? Please, tell me how she is doing!"
JimBee Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hybros glances at the party. He hoped that he could some sort of reaction out of the half-orc, but he had to tread carefully. "What should we say?" he whispers to the party.
ADHO15 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 "How about "your mother is much cheaper then you?"" "Indeed! We could always lock him back up if he will not offer fair prices to his saviours. No skin off our backs. Eric, may I have back the money that was stolen from me? Though I will still not have enough for that lovely looking topaz."
JimBee Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 "What if we told him we needed the lowered prices in order to protect his mother? And besides, I think this situation calls for a more diplomatic approach... I have no doubt he would easily slip through our fingers if we tried to lock him up again."
The_Customizer Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I agree, we should tell him we know his mother, and perhaps his prices will be lowered. Also, we kinda need to continue on the quest.
JimBee Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Hybros twiddles his thumbs. "So... will I be telling Sham about is mother?" Hybros whispers in Christopher's ear, who translates the speech to Sham in a noble voice. 'Yes, we are from Heroica and are in your mother's good graces. You know, she does provide food and drink for us heroes free of charge. I think she of all people understands best what heroes do and what heroes need. We save innocent people like you, and we need the equipment to do it. Now Scheherazade is doing fine, but say she needed protection from the evil forces? All the heroes in Heroica Hall would serve to this, but their capability in doing so relies on their strength and equipment. So, please understand that to continue to protect people like yourself, we will need affordable equipment. In return, we offer our heroic services to you and your mother. What's a few gold coins in exchange for your and your beloved mother's life?' Hybros grimaced at Ad-Hoh's words... but he was right. Perhaps a more forceful method would be needed...
Sandy Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 After listening to Christopher's words, Sham is on the verge of crying. "Thank you for bringing me news of my mother, valiant heroes! There is nothing I value more in this world than good old momma. Friends of momma's are friends of Sham, that is why I offer you 50% off everything I have to sell. Khorne Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 After the battle, it took the party a while to get Eric back on his feet. It was almost as if he didn't want to get back up again. He kept on murmuring words such as Astrid and Valkyries, amongst other statements such as "only death can set me free" and the likes. The party couldn't make much of it anyway, since most of it was said in Norse, which none of the other Heroes could comprehend. Eventually, the big Barbarian got back on his feet again, after a healthy swig of ale. He did seem even more quiet than other times. The party idn't pay lots of attention and saw his quietness as an aftereffect of the battle. They did grow impatient with his inability to divide the loot and give proper directions. After a while, Eric started to speak again and divided the loot as the party talked to Sham, the half-Orc salesman. Division of loot: Ad-Hoh: 14 Gold Erdathcath: 13 Gold and handcannon Maurice: Tonic Eric: Fire bomb Hybros: Rum Eric felt miserable. Angry and clear of mind, but alone in this big world. He felt like a coward to admit it, but maybe he wasn't as much of a greater leader as he used to be. "Hybros,..." he slowly and quietly started speaking, "if I go down again, or if I'm not capalbe of making proper decisions, you can do so for me" The imp look at Eric puzzled. The Nord replied "Friend, I'm making you my second in command. When I'm down, you can lead the party." * Eric then turned to the half-Orc and asked: "Will you join our party and help us on our mission? We'll get you back to your mother safely" * OoC: I'm kind of busy lately, so maybe it's best I picked a second-in-command. Since Hybros and Eric have shared many Quests, I figured it's only normal Hybros gets the title. Sorry for my absence, guys
ADHO15 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 "That is good news. Thank you very much for the discounts, Sham. Here is 70 gold in exchange for that shiny yellow topaz."
JimBee Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 The Mythril gleamed, and Hybros considered. But he still did not have enough to buy it. Not wanting to push the half-orc any farther, he asked: "Are you going to be around? If so I would like to buy that Mythril from you when I have the coin, hehe... I do have these Hinckwell Wares, very valuable. You could sell them at twice the price to the family if you bought them from me for 300 gold now." "If not, I'll take 4 potions, 2 Grand Potions, a Phoenix Essence, 2 Remedies, a Smoke Bomb, and a Throwing Knife for a total of 107 gold." Eric felt miserable. When I'm down, you can lead the party." * Hybros' eyes widened. What was happening to Eric? He offered his hand. "Come on Eric. Everything will be fine. I will do my best to lead when you're not, but in the meantime let's finish our quest and return to the Hall. It's going to be okay." Hybros said the words, but he was still unsure. Unsure of his ability to lead, unsure if Eric would ever be alright. He had only looked after himself for all these years, and now he had to be aware of others. Maybe he wasn't cut out for Heroica. But it felt... different. Hybros knew there were answers somewhere, and while Heroica was a change, it was a good place to look for them.
The_Customizer Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I shall buy: The 2 Grand potions, 6 Potions, and the 3 Smoke Bombs. I believe that is a total of 50 Gold. Here you go!
