Sandy Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 Sham's hands move at lightning speed as he deals out his merchandise to the heroes. A phoenix essence and two remedies to Maurice for 45 gold and a topaz to Ad-Hoh for 70 gold. Eric then turned to the half-Orc and asked: "Will you join our party and help us on our mission? We'll get you back to your mother safely" "Ah, I'm sorry but I'm not much of use in battle. In fact, I avoid fighting whenever I can. I think I'll just split from this place and hitchhike a boat to Eubric..." "Are you going to be around? If so I would like to buy that Mythril from you when I have the coin, hehe... I do have these Hinckwell Wares, very valuable. You could sell them at twice the price to the family if you bought them from me for 300 gold now." "Well, I do need a lift to Eubric, so if you can provide that I could follow you at a safe distance... But those perfumes look worth no more than 100 gold to me. What are you trying to do, scam Sham Poo? Trust me, many have tried, none have succeeded. Except that no-good Bonaparte... If he wasn't going to Eubric after all, why didn't he just say so and let me find another ship?" JimBee Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 "I believe Erdathcath also wanted the other two Smoke Bombs... and if everyone is done here we should continue down the hall."
Sandy Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 "I believe Erdathcath also wanted the other two Smoke Bombs... and if everyone is done here we should continue down the hall." The doorway next to the jail cell takes the party to the metal staircase leading up. It seems the party has now covered the entire first floor. They still haven't checked what is on top of the staircases, or solved the password to the large door that will take them to Jolly Roger. What was the thing that Sham said about a Bonaparte...? OoC: Ignore the green and red cones, I'm too lazy to shoot a new picture without them just for this.
JimBee Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 "Let's head up. Could the password to the door be 'Reno'? Or maybe somewhere they were going... 'Fang'?"
Khorne Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 What was the thing that Sham said about a Bonaparte...?[/i] Aaargh crap, I was just going to say something about that . Missed my time to shine again."Anyone else has the feeling we're being royally played with here? I'm really starting to believe my first theory on Reno. I think he's with the pirates. I mean, why would any Bonaparte willingly dock his ship here? Reno's got to be the Bonaparte Sham was talking about. Maybe he wants to overthrow his family using the help of the pirates and the Tritech scientists? Why else would the pirates need robots and guns and such?" Eric said. Through the daze of alcohol, a small beam of intelligence was sipping through.
JimBee Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Hybros' eyes widened. "Eric... you're right! We haven't found him the jail cells, and no really knows who Jolly Roger is... he has the motive, and the ability... it all makes sense. Let's try the password".
Etzel Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 "What are you talking about? That halfblood never told us that Remo was part of the pirates, just that he hadn't sailed to Eubric. Out of that you just jumps to conclusion that he is betraying his family? Why?! And what is this talk about a password? As far as I recalled there were no letters on the strange door, just gibberish signs. How will we be able to write a password with those, and with only one try as well? If we are finished here I think we should climb this wooden staircase right here and probably end up near the second wooden staircase on the second floor that I spoke of earlier. We should try that one before going back to the metallic or stone stairs because I have a hunch that those only lead up to the towers where the flags are, and we don't need to go there just yet." Maurice then turns to Sham. "Could you tell us more about that Bonaparte that you mentioned earlier?"
The_Customizer Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Hmm, sounds like my original idea was correct... Anyway, we might as well try out "Reno" as the password. I have no idea what else it may be.
Sandy Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 Maurice then turns to Sham. "Could you tell us more about that Bonaparte that you mentioned earlier?" "Oh, that son-of-a-b... He sure fooled me. I thought all Bonapartes were these honorable "guardians of the sea" or something, but this one promised a ride to Eubric and sailed straight to this den of pirates! I haven't seen the guy since. If only I could recall his name... Ramon? Remy? Tino? Mano? Bono? Something like that..."
Etzel Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 "Oh, that son-of-a-b... He sure fooled me. I thought all Bonapartes were these honorable "guardians of the sea" or something, but this one promised a ride to Eubric and sailed straight to this den of pirates! I haven't seen the guy since. If only I could recall his name... Ramon? Remy? Tino? Mano? Bono? Something like that..." "Reno, perhaps?" "Well, that only agrees with the version Nemo Bonaparte told us so I don't see why you think he s with the pirates now. Hybros, you seem to better understand those signs then me, but I can't see why we should try Reno for password. Why would the pirates chose the name of a Bonaparte as a password? And Erdathcath, we can't just try different passwords without knowing if it's right, didn't you listen to what that professor said earlier? I think we need to continue to search for something that can give us a clue to the password."
The_Customizer Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 True, perhaps some more exploration will reveal the code. Also, thinking back to what happened when I mentioned to Mr. Nemo (the one who sent us here) that Reno may have joined the pirates, let us hope for Reno's, and Mr. Nemo's sake that he is not Jolly Roger himself. However, it is very possible. "Sham, by any chance, do you remember why Reno was coming here? Did he mention it? And do you remember who put you in here? Perhaps these questions may help us know what we need to find out."
Sandy Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 "Sham, by any chance, do you remember why Reno was coming here? Did he mention it? And do you remember who put you in here? Perhaps these questions may help us know what we need to find out." "Ah yes, Reno! That was it! He didn't say much to me when we arrived here, just told some thugs to lock me up. Apparently he's some sort of a boss around here or something..."
JimBee Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Hybros, you seem to better understand those signs then me, but I can't see why we should try Reno for password. Why would the pirates chose the name of a Bonaparte as a password? And Erdathcath, we can't just try different passwords without knowing if it's right, didn't you listen to what that professor said earlier? "It's a four-letter word that continues to come up throughout this quest. And if what Sham says is true... "Ah yes, Reno! That was it! He didn't say much to me when we arrived here, just told some thugs to lock me up. Apparently he's some sort of a boss around here or something..." ...then Eric was right after all and I see no reason to not try it. From what we know Reno is Jolly Roger. Let's head up the staircase in front of us." OOC: Etzel, I'm not sure if you can't really see that the letters on the door are letters or if Maurice can't read English... The door has ZZZZ AAAA BBBB ...meant to represent letters on a four-letter combination lock, each wheel having the 26 letters.
Etzel Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 OOC: Etzel, I'm not sure if you can't really see that the letters on the door are letters or if Maurice can't read English... The door has ZZZZ AAAA BBBB ...meant to represent letters on a four-letter combination lock, each wheel having the 26 letters. I really didn't see it first time, but now I do. And give Maurice some slack, he is 50 years old no wonder his eyesight isn't the best!
The_Customizer Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I really didn't see it first time, but now I do. And give Maurice some slack, he is 50 years old no wonder his eyesight isn't the best! You are one to talk, Erdathcath is 197 years old, and she read it perfectly fine. Anyway what Sham said perfectly confirms that Reno is Jolly Roger, and as no one would suspect that, they used 'Reno' as the password for that door. After all, who would think that 1. Jolly Roger is really Reno. 2. Jolly Roger (Reno) is related to the Bonapartes, and 3. That umm, we are going to have to bring him back to Mr. Nemo, who will probably be not too happy. This whole thing looks like it will be wrapped up pretty soon!
Khorne Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 "So, you guys want to go back up and try 'Reno' as a password? I sure hope we're right about this, I wouldn't want to get fried alive. I can't stand heat that well. If only we still had the professor, then we could get her to try the password"
JimBee Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 "It should be okay since we smashed that Tritech sorcery... I think."
The_Customizer Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 "It should be okay since we smashed that Tritech sorcery... I think." Indeed, never thought about that until now, perhaps the door is even unlocked now. Though I really can't say for sure.
Sandy Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 OoC: So sorry for the delay, but now I've got everything I need to finish the quest, as well as time to update frequently. No more delays, just smooth sailing to the finish from here on out! The weary party made its way back to the imposing door that was said to lead to Jolly Roger's den. The half-orc merchant Sham Poo was lurking some way behind them, ready to leap into hiding at the first sight of pirates. Remembering Dr. Gioconda's warning about the door's destructive capabilities, the heroes' hearts started beating faster as they turned the dials to spell out the name of Admiral Bonaparte's lost twin. Everyone let out a sigh as a green light flashed into the skull's eyes, and the door clicked open. Much to their surprise, the door led outside into a thick forest growing on top of the hill fortress. And even more shocking was seeing the sun climbing up towards the peak of the sky. Dawn had come and gone, and "The Sunflower" had sailed away from their rendez-vous point. Deeper into the forest, there was steep steps carved into a hillside. Boldly the heroes climbed up, and encountered a peculiar sight. A rope bridge led to another rocky hill with a broken stern of a ship tangling on top of it. Apparently the captain of these pirates lived on an actual cabin. But even that wasn't the most surprising thing, for a large shadow loomed over the strangely located shipwreck. Looking up, the heroes saw some sort of a flying ship hovering above. An anchor line lead down into the forest, holding the airship steady. Trying their best to ignore the floating ship for now, the six heroes walked over the rope bridge and onto the rickety deck of the shipwreck. They could hear voices inside the cabin. Apparently a heated argument was taking place. Now would be their chance to prepare themselves before facing Jolly Roger, or Reno Bonaparte, or whoever was waiting for them inside that cabin.
Khorne Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Eric didn't care much about the scenery. He was in it for the gold, not the pretty or spectacular sights. He adressed the party members. "Now's the time to put those Smelling Salts, Nostrums and Meads to a good use!" His eyes shined at the thought of the coming struggle. He deeply hoped his battle prowess would not let him down again. Because every bit would help i the battle, Eric took out a vial of poison and applied it to his blade. He then crept closer to the door, trying to eavesdrop on the conversation.
ADHO15 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 "Now's the time to put those Smelling Salts, Nostrums and Meads to a good use!" "Very true!" Agreed Ad-Hoh has he gulped down his mead. "To victory or a noble death!"
Sandy Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 He then crept closer to the door, trying to eavesdrop on the conversation. Eric heard two distinct voices coming from inside the cabin. " - then go already and stop pestering me!" said a gruff voice. "I should've known not to trust you foreigners in the first place." "The aoi are the wisest people in the whole Olegaia", said a much older and squeakier voice. "You have seen the extend of their prowess yourself, Reno. You are a fool to turn your back on the honorable family. They will not remember this kindly." "Ba ha ha, I could not care less about the feelings of those blue-skinned freaks!" Reno replied. "It's the wasted time and effort I'm concerned about, and if those infiltrators catch wind of my position here and live to tell it to my brother, all my plans will be blown to the wind. I thought that your machines would've been enough to stop a few nosy Heroica sellswords, but you have utterly failed me. Your reputation as the resident genius is highly exaggerated, Vincent." This made the old man start another rant, and left the party a little more time before they would have to either retreat or face their adversary.
