Thanks 'Iaka', after the Dagli'Brusgen and the XL BYG....I guess a house or a row of houses and a bakery would be nice....it would have that village/small town feel.

The houses will have the standard Lego red sloped roofs, but a dark grey sloped roof to the Dagli'Brusgen....frontage is still a problem which should I rock with...that would also look good in Lego.

Keep watching and please keep those comments coming.....every little bit helps...thank you. :classic:

Thanks 'Macoco' for your comments, maybe one day I'll build a street from downtown USA.....I know someone from Vegas. And when I do my Scottish village I know a young Scottish couple recent arrivals in Oz.

I'll be working on the Dagli'Brusgen tonight and make stickers for the mail box and pay phone tomorrow. :classic:

Keep watching.

@Laka

Maybe Google Translate confuses Dagli'Brugsen with Dagligvarer. (Dagligvarer actually means groceries). That's seems most logically to me.

@LT

I would say picture number one - or the last one.

- The older Brugsen buildings have an apartment upstairs where the owner of the store (usually) lives.

Thanks for the feedback 'BrickSindito', the Dagli'Brusgen I'm going to build one for a small town/village and you are right with some of them....I currently have thirty OK/Dagli'Brusgen sites up to scan over so I'm in the planning mode right now.

Okay, update time.....

cool_ok_tankstation_with_post_box_and_pay_phone_98.jpg

As you can see, I have now paved the forecourt but added a bus stop....Danish looking yes or no....yep, I need help from those living in Denmark again. I'm very grateful for any assistance. :classic:

Keep watching ! :classic:

Quick edit - oop's time I forgot to work on the minimart and stickers today....tomorrow for sure.

Another edit....just to fill that blank spot past the pumps.

It's starting to come together now.....roadway still to be fixed, bus stop sign too, more tiles and accessories plus the inside of the store needs MEGA work.

lego_danish_street_89.jpg

Comments and suggestions welcome. :classic:

Edit - I hope to get more 2x4 tiles tomorrow, plus a fencing piece to finish the tankstation off......the bus stop and phone box might move more towards the road going past these structures just to even up things with the real world. :classic:

I must be on the beam, no suggestions.....that could be good or bad ?

That look's really good! How close to finishing this are you? Are you going to add some car's ? A car crash could add a lot. That would give you reason to use some police. Are you going to make it bigger? A random flower stem growing out of the sidewalk here n' there could look nice. I have more suggestion's if you care to hear. I would do town and city in a whole different way if it was one of my theme's.

Posted

Thanks 'Captain BeerBeard', it's a long way off finishing.....stage one is what you see before you on the screen - the supermarket/petrol station combo. The interior of the supermarket will have staff, customers, stock and upstairs living areas on two floors (fingers crossed). After that stage.....houses and a small bank.....perhaps a hardware store too (I like hardware stores)!

Police and there vehicles - yes I have been also looking into it as well....perhaps it will take up to 12 months to complete the whole layout.

It will join my other town for train/Lego shows in the future. :classic:

It looks very different than the aussie village but perhaps this time you could build some neat old house for this one!

But awesome as alvays LT...

Thanks 'icy brick', well sometime in the next two months I'll build some typical danish style homes you find in smaller towns/villages. I'm currently looking at police car designs.....so there is plenty still to do and heaps more to come.....Brick On !

Nice job Lightningtiger!

It's quit fun for me as a Dane to se an Aussie trying make af Danish scenarie. The "Daglig Brugsen" store i very close to what you'll find in a typical danish village in the countryside. And they usually also have an "OK" gas-station allongside. The phonebooth is also quit good, allthoug they are very rare these days, were everyone has cell-phones. Most danish villages have had their phonebooths chopped away by now. Theu are too expensive to maintain.

If your're working on a police car, I can let you know that the danish police uses Skoda Superb these days, and they look like this:

Thank you 'MadManMango' for your kind feedback and help, now we can see where Lego gets the inspiration for their police cars eh ?

My design will be six wide to give true scale - thanks for the side on view....I be able to design a car from that. :classic:

Goggle Maps street view mode has been providing me with the details of what I would find driving down a street in a Danish town or even city.

Anyway, keep those suggestions and information flowing in. :classic:

They use Skodas, huh? I would have thought they used something German, not something Czech.

Anyway, great looking village so far LT. I've never been there, but the architecture is instantly recognised.

It is german!!!

Or at least own by VW. It's the danish way to get a lot of Volkswagen for the smallest amount. We've got som insane tax'es on cars in Denmark. Why do you think Tom Christensen moved to Monaco

Posted

okay, skoda is owned by VW, but the Czech would be really upset if you considered the brand anything else but Czech, since at least the desig is done there ...

@lt: Anyway, I'm missing the element of water in your moc, so I'd like to challenge you with this waterfront, which seems to be so Denmark to me (although I know it's CPH)

Great progress, I like the tiles used for sidewalks.

Huge store and great pitched roof to avoid accumulation of snow and ice!

Beautiful colors scheme!

Well thanks to everyone's feedback, wow, thank you. :sweet:

Now some truth 'MadManMango' that very Dagli'Brugsen that I used for colour selection and that's the very bus stop I based mine on.

More to come early this week coming.....suggestions and comments please feel free to still say.....again thanks to those who have commented. :classic:

Oh, and before I forget MERRY CHRISTMAS to all and their families. :sweet:

Your kidding right? Pretty wird coincident, considering that there are hundreds of "Daglig Brugsen" in small danish villages all over the country. Fun though :sweet:

It's even more fun, that I saw that you were considering to add a bank to the scenerie. There's actually an old bank, just acros the street from this "Daglig Brugsen" in the town of Hundelev (Dogville if you litterally translate the name).

The bank is closed now, and has been for several years. But instead theres an antique-store now. The owner is an exciting woman. She's a journalist/writer, and she's not running the store to earn a living. She's doing it to meet people, and get inspiration for her writing. The old bank vault is stil in the store, and she's still using it for her valuables.

Galleri%252520Katte.jpg

The antique-woman is quit a carachter, and she's proud of beeing a bit different. Thats propably also why she calls the store Gallerie Cats... Get that? Gallerie Cats in the town of Dogville

I have been following your posts for a while and you have given me some good ideas that I will use for my Lego town. They really add some interesting aspects to otherwise what can look like a cloned town (mine that is). I particularly like the fuel pump, keep on posting more ideas that I can 'borrow'.

Thanks again for the feedback everyone, especially 'MadManMango'.....perfect little bank design (my wife loves shops about cats....I'll tell her in the morning) - I'll plan on one similar after the store is finished on the inside.....speaking of which I'll be working again on it Wednesday !

Keep any ideas, etc., coming everyone ! :classic:

The police can buy the cars without any taxes.

- But that's off topic

@LT

It's looking good so far and some houses and the old bank are really good ideas.

The picture of Nyhavn (The colorfull houses which someone linked a picture of) is a funny idea but wouldn't fit in a small Danish village.
