Legostein Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) Hello everybody! Every year many people wonder what sets to buy for christmas. Here I'd like to share some ideas and inspiration which might help with that decision. Because set 7957 can be much more than just a misshapen speeder. Set 7957 - Sith Nightspeeder You can use the pieces of set 7957 to build an... -------------------- Imperial Star Destroyer >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- ... or an Acclamator Assault Ship >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- ... or an Venator Attack Cruiser >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- ... or an Porax-38 (Magna Guard) Starfighter >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- ... or an (Medium-sized) Theta-class Shuttle >>> Free instructions avaialable here <<< -------------------- Summary Set 7957 is finally a set with plenty of grey wedge pieces, however the variety of SNOT pieces or transparent elements is very limited. There is not even one jumper plate available. Nonetheless the parts collection allows for creation of a number of different alternative models, but you have to figure out some tricky techniques. -------------------- That's it for today! Have a great sunday everyone and happy building! Cheers, ~ Christopher Edited November 27, 2011 by Legostein Quote
TenorPenny Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 A really informative article, thanks! Quote
Fallenangel Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Very clever alternate models, Legostein! You've turned what was a rather ugly set into a great collection of MINIs. I assume there are enough parts in the set for all four to be built together? Quote
Oky Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 You did it again, Legostein! You've turned a set that would usually not be of much interest to the average Lego Star Wars fan into an impressive variety of mini-models! If I wouldn't own the set already, I'd definitely get it now. Quote
Legostein Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 Thanks for the highlight Oky! I assume there are enough parts in the set for all four to be built together? Well, actually, no. This works like for the 3in1 Creator sets. Just that it is 5in1 here. The original nightspeeder set has only 200 pieces. And the mini models have 362 pieces together, with the Theta shuttle consisting of almost 100 pieces. I am sorry, I should have clarified that before. I also have 15 minifigure left-overs now... Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 More excellent micro-designs from the master, 'Legostein' you always seem to impress us with your genius. Keep them coming ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Wow, you never really cease to amaze me with your alternate build expertise Chris! I'm very much impressed with your ability to see the building potential of ordinary, and sometimes unappealing sets like this one, which IMO is what separates MOC Experts like you from mere mortals like us. Excellent work as always my friend! Quote

Masked Builder Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 When I clicked on this I was wondering what the heck this was! I should have seen this coming from you though! Nice works as always. Quote
Mr Man Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Absolutely fantastic Legostein I really like the Theta class, great job. Quote
Solscud007 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 You sir are a bad influence. I did not want his set since I have original Anakin and Ventress already. But this is stupendous! I will wait for a bogo 50% off at TRU now. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Wow, These look great. I think this is your best batch yet of alternates. I especially like the Acclamator Assault Ship. Great job Quote
Brickdoctor Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Is there anything you can't make an amazing alternate model Star Wars mini out of? I think I like the Theta the most. All the angles are just perfect. Quote
Hollander Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I spotted this on the blog at first, and just scrolled along it. When I went back to check this creation out, I was surprised this was all made of only one set! This is absolutely excellent work, you never failed me to amaze me with both your alternate- or mini/micro builds. I strongly recommend you to keep those builds coming, I think I can speak for all of us if I say we love your creations. Quote
Praiter Yed Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 These must have taken some figuring out - I'm starting to think you have too much time on your hands Legostein Very impressive as always and has made me realise that a set I had dismissed as being an absolute mess is actually a very good parts pack. Stardusty Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I've seen mini models coming, but I was still amazed when I started scrolling down the page. Amazing job Legostein! Quote
wokajablocka Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 More great ideas from the mini master.  One thumbs up for each build. You sir are a bad influence. I did not want his set since I have original Anakin and Ventress already. But this is stupendous! I will wait for a bogo 50% off at TRU now. The new Anikin is more detailed print and ventress has a new body as well making them a little more dirable even if you own the original figs, Savige is a nice fig as well. IMO its not a bad set and my son loves splitting the speeders aparts and awooshing them around and with Legostine's ideas for alternate buils make this a good set. Quote
Rocketbilly Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 As usual, nice work Legostein. Very creative use of pieces. My favourite is the Theta class shuttle, it almost looks like it could be an official LEGO mini. Keep up the good work! Quote
prateek Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Haha, of course. I really like the Theta the best, especially with those wings Quote
Shadows Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Great stuff as always! Even a dull set can turn brilliant in your hands. I also have 15 minifigure left-overs now... Mmmm, minifigs. *forwards address* Quote
lemons Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 awesome. i really like all of these mini models as well. great job Quote
AoNZ Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Great work Legostein Nice use of parts and it is great to see them used in this way The Theta class is also my favorite Quote
Brickmamba Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) the night-speeder is nothing to brag about other than the figs and i too have broken it down and taken the snot bits for other projects, good work Edited November 28, 2011 by Brickmamba Quote
Huntleyfx Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 You have now officially changed my opinion of that set from an eyesore to a must build. Quote
