Lost Viking Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 No, I don't believe so either. But if you are doing a contest with prizes, I recommend that you earn a good reputation before doing so. ;-) Quote
xwingyoda Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 There are no strict rules about contests guys ;-) If you want to do one, just go ahead and do one: its as simple as that ;-) And I concur with Lost Viking, having a good reputation will affect the "popularity" of the contest ;-) *yoda* Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 (edited) ^^^ What he said. Maybe if a bunch of little kids start running around here, making tons of contests simultaneously... then we might need to make contests "official" and staff-run. Same thing if members start listing physical prizes and don't deliver. But it hasn't been a problem here yet, so use discretion and knock yourself out. *sweet* Edited September 21, 2006 by JINZONINGEN 73 Quote
obliviumjr Posted September 22, 2006 Author Posted September 22, 2006 so basically... go nuts? cool, but what should be a prize, i mean what do people want thats exclusive and doesn't cost millions? ~Obliviumjr please, if possible do not answer with 'a lego set'... Quote
Jipay Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 What about introducing yourself first ? :-) Quote

A lego set :-P But seriously, anything can be a prize. Some prizes are just the pretige of having the winning entry, though these contests seem to get less entries for some reason :-| But a prize can be anything really, usually related to the contest. obliviumjr Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 urrr... you mean if it was a test for who could make the most manlike lego fig, the prize would be an arnold schwarzenegger fig, because he's pure muscle??? or did you mean, the prize would be a film with him in??? i think i understand... but i'm thinking, why does reputation matter, is it because people will be interested more, or less depending on your Cred??? ~Obliviumjr i plan on introducing myself when i'm ready, i'm not new to Lego Customization, or building Quote
Sir Dillon Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Well, I know that if I won, I wouldn't really want to give my address to someone who just joined... Quote
xenologer Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I've always wondered what the point of constests by independant guys was... Now, if you're someone 'official' like a forum admin, and TLC has provided you with a free set to review and spread publicity...(like that ever happens) then it would make sense to have a contest to decide which forum member should recieve it afterwards. An independant 'non-official' contest never made sense to me, why would the contest organizer wish to donate his own funds/legos as a prize when he recieves nothing tangible in return? I guess the organizer might just be generous... but... Aside from that, whats the motive for contestants entering a contest that contains no tangible prize? We can simply post photos of our mocs normally to let people see them; it doesnt need to be part of contest. Anyhow... so while anyone can do a contest, for those reasons above generally 'official' contests work out better. Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 In answer to your question about independant contests, Xeno, it's alot of fun. You're helping to build up the community spirit, and you get to become more respected if you do it right. At least, I think that's it. Quote
