Brickdoctor Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 Awsome idea and you have set yourself a challange . I hope you have your ROJ conmmunity build done ? Working on it. Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time on LDD this month. Not to mention the time to build sets for Heroica Quest 17. Quote
Ceroknight Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Fantastic start, and I can't wait to see more Quote
joopsta Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Great idea, brickdoctor!Love the radiant. I hope someone is willing to part out all the bricks, so we all can start bricklinking. I hope that great ship of general Grievous from SW3 comes along. (don't know the name). Thanks! Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I hope that one ship from SW3 comes along. (don't know the name). The Invisible Hand? Or the Belbullab-22? Only the models from the calendar are going to be built, so neither will be seen. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 I'm afraid I might disappoint those who were looking for a Moodland-scale build, but I wanted to stick with official-ish scales, here. Day 2: It's Miniland-scale Nute Gunray! Nute Gunray was a Neimoidian from the planet Neimoidia. Following a stint as Minister for the Trade Federation, he rose in power after the Stark Hyperspace War in 44 BBY, eventually becoming Viceroy of the Trade Federation. Read more... This isn't an exact rebuild of the Advent Calendar model, as it depicts Gunray as seen in Menace, not CW, but thise Gunray is more easily recognizable. 2011SWAdventDay2.lxf Quote
M<0><0<DSWIM Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Ahhhh, not Moodland?! Haha, that's okay, Doc. This is still pretty awesome looking! I love how exact the color scheme is and the parts usage for the headdress thingy. Quote
Mr Man Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I haven't commented yet Brickdoctor but both models are absolutely great. Quote
Solscud007 Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Very nice. I cant wait for the Republic Gunship. Any chance you can keep the first post updated with all the models? So we dont have to dig thru comments to find your genius? Thanks Quote
Huntleyfx Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 The up-scales figures (I'm not sure what to refer to that as, Legoland scale perhaps?) definitely do not dissapoint. I think the astromech and the Imperial and clone pilots will definitely need to be built. Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Oh another great MOC Doc! I'm still looking forward to the other models from the calendar. Quote
Rocketbilly Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Well you've certainly set yourself a task; but it''ll definitely be fun checking your Advent calendar MOCs out. Good luck! So far the models you've created are great. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest. Good luck! Quote
Oky Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Nice work, Doc. And not to worry, I'm not disappointed at all; it might even be better this way. Quote
Darth Yogi Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 It's going to be very fun to watch this. Great job Quote
Fallenangel Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 The up-scales figures (I'm not sure what to refer to that as, Legoland scale perhaps?) definitely do not dissapoint. I think the astromech and the Imperial and clone pilots will definitely need to be built. MINI-land scale (1/20). You can see some excellent examples here. So how's the mechno-chair coming along? Quote
Huntleyfx Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 MINI-land scale (1/20). You can see some excellent examples here. So how's the mechno-chair coming along? Thank you, I completely blanked for a second on that. Also, nice examples, and I am indeed looking forward to the mechno-chair as well (the original LEGO version is too disappointing.) Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 So how's the mechno-chair coming along? I. Hate. Mecho. Chairs. Day 3: It's Miniland-ish-scale Mecho Chair! Probably a little bigger than Miniland-scale, but I can't see any way to make this general design any smaller without losing a lot of the shaping and detailing. A mechno-chair, also mechnochair, was a mobile, mechanical chair used by wealthy Neimoidians as a sign of their status. Read more... 2011SWAdventDay3.lxf Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 So, can Gunray sit on it? It looks good Doc! Another MOC for the books. Quote
Piranha Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 some neat stuff it took me until day 3 to realize you were following the official advent calender models, before I thought it was just whatever SW models you felt like Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 So, can Gunray sit on it? Being a Miniland figure with a dress robe has it's disadvantages. Quote
Oky Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Good work, doc. This is much more recognizable than the official minifig-scale version. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Good work, doc. This is much more recognizable than the official minifig-scale version. I know. I was reading Reasonably Clever's Advent Madness today, and Chris Doyle goes,On the Star Wars side of the Advent we have….well….um….a thing. I had to go looking on-line to discover that this is supposed to be a battle droid of some kind. Maybe it’s from the Clone Wars show or something. Whatever it is, I sure didn’t recognize it.So my personal choice for the day is going to have to be with our fun-loving officer. So far neither calendar is doing particularly well in my eyes…but the month is still very young. How about you? Did you know what that Star Wars thing was supposed to be? Quote
Huntleyfx Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 I am once again very impressed, and I am glad you share the hatred of the mechano-chair that has affected the forums. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 I am once again very impressed, and I am glad you share the hatred of the mechano-chair that has affected the forums. I wouldn't say I hate it, I just think it was a really bad concept. It's completely organic in some spots, mechanical in others, Steampunk-ish in some areas, and doesn't look Star Wars-y at all. I actually thought TLG did a pretty good job of pulling it off at roughly minifig scale without any new elements or illegal connections. I blame Lucas for the bad points of this one. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Day 4 is upon us! It's Midi-scale OG-9 Homing Spider Droid! This one was a challenge, mostly because I started with a bigger sphere to give it better details and make it closer to the size of Day 1's model, but then it was too close to minifig-scale, so I cut back to this, complete with 3-wide Lowell sphere. (its missing a couple jumper plates, actually, because of various things like lack of support for illegal connections and the need for attachment points for the legs) Speaking of the legs, I'm not really happy with them, but this is the best I could come up with. The OG-9 homing spider droid, sometimes referred to as the spider walker, was a droid walker manufactured for anti-vehicular combat by the Commerce Guild before and during the Clone Wars.
