Dyric begins by throwing his knife, which whizzes by the Chaos Beast, but seems to sharpen (+1 WP). Tesni bellows, and all her quest mates feel encouraged in the upcoming battle. Skrall begins to load an arrow, but the Beast bashes his face with the tip of one of his weapons (-8). Felton dances towards the beast and slices him in the leg. A unearthly scream, like thousands of yells all at once, escapes the beast as black liquid gushes out (-16). Sir Poletad hops around madly, too afraid to enter the fight, and Haldor swings his rod, but his stomach is caught by the head of one of the beast's axes. And we are scared. Neither of us has ever gone to war before. I was a leader of a small village until Wren brought me to the Arena. I do not know how to fight a war. It is very possible there will be deaths. I just wanted to say thank you, heroes, for answering our summons another time. Wren is here, and she's working some plot, and I genuinely believe that we are stopping her. And that is what Hans and I have dedicated ourselves to, but you didn't dedicate your lives to that, and you're still willing to lay them down, so thank you." "I'll say a little less. After I escaped the Arena, two years of my life had passed. I don't think of myself a smart man, but I do want to think of myself as a good guy, and I realized that stopping Wren had to be done. I'm not that great of a faithful guy, but I know that Wren is evil, and I can feel it, and that means something. I feel it in me that we must stop her." "This is most likely just a stepping stone in her greater plan, but if we can stop her at any or all stages... well, thank you heroes, and may the gods bless you tomorrow. We will go to war with you." "Ai. Sleep tight." Felton and Hans both retired to their sleeping bags, and the heroes were left with the fire (bold when you want to sleep). After Hans and Felton had gone to sleep, a final piece of parchment floated over the fire, and one of the heroes snatched it. The Story of the Little Girl and the Kidnappers (Part 3)The girl was dragged from her prison one day by the Elf, who was for once silent, and the Orc, who likewise had a closed mouth. They dragged the little girl into the throne room once more, where the King was yelling. “You do not think your father is evil?! See what he did!” he yelled, and the girl looked, and saw the dwarves head on a platter, cut from the rest of his body. “I’ll send him a message right back! I’ll tell him that he can’t do this. I’ll send him your head! Off with her head!” he screamed. The mopey headed man unsheathed a short dagger, but just then, trumpets sounded. The rebels were at the gate. The King and the kidnappers ran out of the room, all but the Elf and the mopey haired man. The Elf looked quite sad, and turned to the mopey haired man and asked him to kill the little girl for getting the dwarf killed. The mopey haired man said “happily” and approached the little girl. The little girl wriggled free of her bonds and ran, away from the throne room. The Elf and man followed. She ran towards the battle, but she saw that the old man was staggering towards her, hand on his side, blood gushing past it. She turned and ran in another direction, up flights of steps, until she reached the roof of the castle, and still she ran, her two assailants in pursuit. The elf, being faster, caught up with the girl first, and lunged at her, but lost her footing and tumbled over the edge of the castle. The girl watched horrified as the Elf hit the ground. Suddenly a hand was on the girl’s shoulder, and she spun around to see the gruesome face of the man with mopey hair. She cried out as he plunged the knife into her chest, but before he could even wretch it free, he caught fire, and started to flail. He fell forward, past her and met the same fate as the Elf before him. The little girl hit the ground, nearly dead, as the woman with black hair walked up to her. The woman whispered in her ear. “I could save you, but I can’t. I’m sorry. It’s the way of the world.” The woman then grabbed the dagger, twisted it, and ended the girl’s short life. She tossed the girl down to the battlefield, where she landed before her father. The fight went out of him, the rebels surrendered, and no more lives were lost that day. The Orc, woman with black hair, and old man all soon left the kingdom. Quote

Black and White swap places depending on which side you are on." Tesni paused and stowed her weapons near the wildgrass and softbirch 'bed' she had created. "All I know is she needs to be defeated. Now party leader, I shall sleep in readyness for war." Quote

Zepher Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) The heroes awoke in the morning. The air was crisp. The sun was weak, but present, and the day felt light. The heroes packed up their camp for the last time, and Hans and Felton led them to the War camp. Felton and Hans wore their warrior's cloths (aka I finally made their stats realistic). Already, troops had started to gather. A stone table, a relic of some old temple, perhaps, or some old castle, or some old town, served as the leader's meeting space. Vonnetate and Gregor stood at it, looking over maps and numbers. Felton and Hans joined them. Off in the distance, far from each other, Haddock and Samuel drilled different troops. You will fight the enemy troops, your number of enemies will depend on the amount of troops the guard have assigned to the battle. After you flee, if your remaining troops outnumber your enemies’ remaining troops, you have won the battle. The troops you used (not lost but used total) will be subtracted from your total number of troops. Remember the Guards will fight your troops (the number of your troops lost will be done fairly, trust your QM), so your troops will not be as numerous as when you began either. 3) Combat, in war, is slightly different. Bombs and shields that affect all enemies instead only affect six enemies. You should specify which six you wish to damage. 4) You will have to fight 3 battles, don’t use up all your troops in one go. 5) To win the War you must win 2 out of 3 battles. Before the battle you must complete the following: a) Assign the number of Rebels you'll use. b) Assign the number of Captains you'll use. c) Assign who in the party will carry the Phoenix Smoke.
