"I still stand by the fact that we could have shared the reward with the Orcs. But it seemed like that my opinion didn't matter. It wasn't 'fate', it was certain people's greed that prevented us from working together. We could have worked with them. Stealing is wrong, no-one has a right to take from those who need it. I never enjoy killing, killing is always wrong. The moment when someone takes pleasure in other's deaths is when that person has lost their humanity, there is a fine line between good and evil. Some people need to be careful not to cross it. " :sadnew:

Haldor caresses the blue crystal, hoping for guidence.

"Wren is messing with our heads, but forget that all of us are like her. All it takes is greed, malice, trechery, then you may see we are quite alike. I'm not following her down the path, but some of us are teetering on the edge...

Skrall my friend remember the times in the sewer? The line between good and evil is hard to distinguish, don't lose yourself in the haze.

Am I the only one who cares?"

Jess, I know something is up. What brings the sadness to your shining eyes?"

Tesni looked at Haldor, "Yes, we gave them money. I pledged my help in rescuing their kin, I have no quarrel with victims of The Darkness Before Light. Those Blinded by Light are as bad as those in the thrall of the Corrupting Dark." She turned to the others, discussing the factories. "Those people are held against their will, forced into service to survive. I will do my best to rescue them from this fate." She said. Blinking rapidly and coughing to clear her throat "Now, Cariad Midhigh is ready to go out and inspect the next factory tomorrow!"

"Well then, I suggest we all get some sleep for the next day and see what that brings us. I don't know about the rest of you but helpin' folks is all good and well, but I've got mouths to feed, equipment to keep up to date, child support..." Skrall reflects back on his original motivations to join the quest, they weren't going to be paid, why had he joined again. Well it really didn't matter now, they were in the middle of all this and it was his job to make sure that everybody made it back alive and intact and that this Wren person was seen to "justice" whatever that may be out here.

"Alright then, to sleep everybody!

Jess, there is a space here for you as always."

Haldor invites Jess into his bedroll again, as the sun sets in the sky.

"It's true. I was stuck in that Arena for three different tournaments before Jess and Co. broke me out. It felt like a few weeks. It took a year off my life. Bah. Damn wench. Though I still wouldn't trust the rebels as far as I could spit. As for the story, I don't think it sounds too different than normal "heroes" to me. You lot may be decent, other than the coward, I haven't forgotten you fled Dyric, but you "heroes" think you can get away with anything just because you're heroes". It's vain.

I turn around slowly, giving Hans a haunting stare.

Coward?

Have you stared death and fear in the eye, Hans? Have you been betrayed by everyone you know? Have you seen a village burn to the ground- friends executed- as punishment for what you have done? Have you seen hundreds of people you know slaughtered while you stand by helpless? Have you been tortured day and night for a month? Do you truley know pain? I have. I do. I have seen a trillion sights man should never see. I have had death fallow me everywhere. I've come to the point where death is almost better than life. So when I run away from a battle because I am nearly dead, do not acuse me of cowardice, because as far as I'm concerned, you do not know what it means.

"Dyric, you fled like a coward, I was bleeding and dying. You abandoned your friends, you are the lowest. I know true pain, tell me, 'hero'. Did you have to wait till coming to Eubric to be told you were valued? Did your entire childhood pass without a single kind word? You should stop talking, for there is no excuse for leaving your friends for dead. Have you asked, or even cared what Hans has been through? No, because you care not for anyone but yourself. Stop talking, 'hero'."

Haldor turns to tug Jess into his bedroll, testing to see if she still wanted to be with him.

A fury of anger, I grab Haldor and slam him against a tree.

You fool. I've cared. I've loved in a passion you could never comprehend. What would you do if you saw Jess killed in the gruesomest way possible while you were forced to stand back and do nothing!?! Well guess what- I have had that happen. I've lost everything I know, except my brother and the clothes on my back. They took everything from me, Haldor. Everything.

"Get off me! Who the hell do you think you are?!? We've all had losses, but it doesn't make you a tough guy to go around telling people their sufferings are nothing!"

Haldro holds Dyric by the scruff of his thoat, shaking him violently.

"They took everything from you huh? Well guess what? I never had anything in the first place, I'm seen things you never imaginge. Sit down and shut up, maybe one day you'll get revenge on these people. But for now, don't go losing any few friends you have, we're here to help the people of this town. Not have fits and flee from battle."

Haldor throws Dyric onto the floor and goes off to sleep.

"Yes."

The heroes go to sleep.

"That was cute."

The heroes awaken the next morning.

Day 3 - Visit Factories with Felton (2 Left), Visit Rebels with Hans (2 Left), Visit Town with Felton (1)

SIR POLETAD - He may be used, in some circumstances, to sneak ahead, due to his small size, and see the strength/number of certain enemies. You may take him on 3 of the remaining 5 days, use him wisely.

Jess rose from the bedroll before Haldor awoke. She leisurely dressed, but no one was awake to watch. Sighing, she went about making breakfast.

"I want to go to town today, everyone," Jess proclaimed, once everyone had woken up.

Posted

"Aye, scout out the town."

Haldor rises and makes breakfast, eager for the coming trip. In a moment of compassion he walks over to the shady rogue Dyric.

"Dyric, friend. I know little about you, where did you come from? I understand if past memories have tainted you, but help should not be seeked by anger at your friends. Everyone has had their share of hardship, but there is no fate except what we make for ourselves. The Gods may watch over us, but you have the power you rectify your past."

The Legonator, how old is Dyric? Just wondering, as he thought Haldor a 'young man'. That's not really how I think of Haldor, he's meant to be quite clever and experianced.

'there is no fate except what we make for ourselves' - Stolen shamelessly from the Terminator films.

Rising from sleep Tesni stood, a few bone cracking stretches later and she was sat with the group awaiting the days action. "Cysgodion tells me there was trouble, it was certainly impressed with Vintul." She said in an aside to Hoke. "I would have assisted, that Dyric seems off," she whispered then shrugged, "when you fight hard you sleep harder."

Posted

"Be at peace Tesni, no fault lies with you. Your efforts and valor in battle well merited a peaceful night's slumber. I merely felt the stirrings and acted for the good of the group."

Hoke patted Tesni on the back and clasped her shoulder.

"Have no fear, Cysgodion and Vintul shall dance again."

"There wasn't need for fighting, Dyric just got angry, so I put him down a peg or two. I am not responsible for the bad things in his life, and neither is Hans. He needs to learn to control himself. But we should give him a chance.

I reckon we might nead the toad if we explore the town, I have a feeling that he'll be useful."

Haldor put on his chainmail and gathered his things for the coming day, keeping an eye on Dyric and smiling at Jess.

<WBD, what do you want to do? If you don't speak up I'm going to pick town, but if you want to do something else, please speak up. Sorry to bother, I'm sure there's something on your plate!>

Skrall had been ready to crack Dyric and Haldor's heads together but thankfully Hoke had diffused the situation and the party had hit the sack. Waking the next morning Skrall agreed with the rest of the group. "Let's get goin' to the town, hopefully we can gather some more info on either our remaining targets or the local rebel chiefs. Remember we're all goin' to have to stay in character so no slip ups got it."

<Sir Poletad, feel free to stay here at camp I'm sure there's bound to be some earthworms crawlin' about this early in the mornin.>

OoC: Sorry, I don't think people look too highly of cell phone usage during weddings
