hjmediastudios Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 No need, you've already done a great job with your current version, so I guess I can't really improve. One note of advice though, since they seem heavily steampunk, they don't really have the "space" feel to them. Other than that no need for any improvements. Even trying to improve on that one is really a lost cause, since I kinda like the armored one more than I like the actual marines. Since I'm hoping that when LEGO approves this they will make it a multi-year theme, I'll make a list of what I would like to see for each year: Year 1: Space Marines only, except for one Space Navy fig. Year 2: Space Marines, Space Navy, introduction Space Army. Year 3: Space Marines, Space Navy and Space army (possible Special Ops Marines?) Year 4: Same thing as the one before. Steampunk? It's camo! I agree with your wave planning; the Army fig was just to stop the wild speculation. The dress Marine is also just for show- I know Lego would never, ever, produce them, since a) they're clearly like a modern-day military uniform (no points for guessing who) and b) no one wants to buy a set consisting of desk jockeys, recruiting offices, intelligence analysts, and other types of non-frontline troops, no matter how necessary those support roles are. purpleparadox Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Well, I like this project so much I decided to make some LDD MOCs for the theme. Here's the first one. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) It remindes me of a combo of Steampunk and Post-apoc, mainly because of the color. Edited May 12, 2012 by DraikNova Quote
BasOne Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Well, I like this project so much I decided to make some LDD MOCs for the theme. Here's the first one. You're not the only one Armoured scout vehicle (ASV) Note done yet so no other pics or seperate topic like the Space Marine MBT Quote
Delta 38 Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 They're Dark orange and Dark green. The only red is their eyes. Plus the marines are a new red. Dark sand red if I recall correctly. Hmm, my computer monitor's colours are a bit off. I see it now. The Space Army figure is nice. Khaki looks fine, but maybe some green or something printed on the armour will improve the look. Red is fine, but plain khaki looks a bit odd. Quote
purpleparadox Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 You're not the only one Armoured scout vehicle (ASV)] *snip* Note done yet so no other pics or seperate topic like the Space Marine MBT If I could make a suggestion...perhaps tile over all the studded parts. Space Marines vehicles seem to me like they should be sleek, and the studs showing loses a bit of that for me. Quote
BasOne Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Over 4000 votes 6000 to go If I could make a suggestion...perhaps tile over all the studded parts. Space Marines vehicles seem to me like they should be sleek, and the studs showing loses a bit of that for me. I did mention i wasn't done yet... right Quote
DraikNova Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Just read Greanlead's guide. No Marines Spec. Ops? Quote
MacK Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 This is a great idea ! It has my support; it would be a shame if Lego didn't use its new space marine molds at some other point. Quote
Puck Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) This is amazing! There are no other words to describe how I feel; I love it. 3...2...1...and...supported! Oh ya. One step closer to our wishes -Puck ;) Edited May 15, 2012 by Puck Quote
Zepher Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 What an ambitious and well put together project. Kudos, you have done some very nice work. Quote
Gatanui Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) When I saw this project on Cuuso I immediately pressed the "Support"-button. I am in love with the concept as a whole and some of the concept sets you have designed. I am surprised LEGO has not considered making a Space Marines series yet. However, I have on question: Do you intend to make all antagonists aliens? I ask because I, among others, are a bit tired of having aliens being portrayed as the "bad guys" and humans as the "good guys" in all LEGO series. -Gata Edited May 16, 2012 by Gatanui Quote

I ask because I, among others, are a bit tired of having aliens being portrayed as the "bad guys" and humans as the "good guys" in all LEGO series. I am planning to make all the antagonists aliens, to protect against Lego's often-nebulous rules against violence. I think it's one thing to have human (and alien) Space Marines fighting a vicious and clearly non-human alien race, and that puts any violence there is firmly in the realm of science fiction, but if the enemies are human, it brings it a little closer to home and might disturb some kids... or so Lego's line of reasoning might perhaps go. hjmediastudios Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 And here's an update, a POV shot showing a level in progress from the game. Not the gameplay itself, but the environment. You are a Space Marine by HJ Media Studios, on Flickr Quote
Masked Builder Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Wow, a game?! Must have missed that memo... Looks good though! Quote
Napoleon53 Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I don't know how to get across the extent of my love for this theme. You could become the next Greg Farshtey. Quote
Garyn Dakari Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 WOW, these minifigs are amazing! I got an account at Cuusoo just to support it! Although that last picture of a game got me really excited - Are you really making a game? Or was that just a mockup? If you are making a game, what game engine are you using? The integrated blender engine, or something else? (Lol sorry...I'm a game developer/modder, so I'm curious :P ) Quote
BasOne Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 We still need more supporterssss!!! And while we're waiting for Nick to finally show us the dropship that-is-in-the-works.... I've been working on my own Once finished (need to finish the interior), it goes into a seperate topic. Quote

hjmediastudios Posted May 19, 2012 Author Posted May 19, 2012 And while we're waiting for Nick to finally show us the dropship that-is-in-the-works.... I've been working on my own Wow, that's a bit bigger than mine, but I like it. Keep up the good work? And yes, I'm working on a game with a team from Croatia- although I do know game development, they're handling the programming and I'm holding down the art of things. The shot above isn't a mockup; it's just a render using a game environment I'm working on. The final game is a top-down tactics game. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 I that dropship 'hjmediastudios', very impressive work....usually when something on Cuusoo reaches 5000 Lego start looking into concepts, etc.,. I'm already supporting it, lets all get behind this one everyone.....no license to worry about and Lego have some of the parts ready.....from series 7 collectable minifigs that is. Quote
DraikNova Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Great dropship BasOne, only thing I don't really like is the blue. Probably would look fantastic if it was replaced with dark red though! Quote
BasOne Posted May 19, 2012 Posted May 19, 2012 Wow, that's a bit bigger than mine, but I like it. Keep up the good work? Size got a bit out of hand, i wanted to build a smaller one Thanks, you keep up the better work Great dropship BasOne, only thing I don't really like is the blue. Probably would look fantastic if it was replaced with dark red though! I wanted a contrasting colour for the ships number, easily recognisable in the heat of battle wich dropship is wich Quote
hjmediastudios Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 I'm considering changing the Space Marines color scheme to either dark red, red, or "classic" sand red. Which do you prefer? Quote
