Dannylonglegs Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 So, this means the Ugokin heads will be compatible with Friends? Excellent...MOST excellent... MUHUHAHAHAHA! Oh my god. Ha ha ha! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Flipz Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Yep. UgokiFriends would be a possibility. I'd rather see a Friends head on an Ugokin body, though... No way! Putting a Ugokin head on a Friends body would FINALLY let Heartlake City have more than one guy! Quote
Laura Beinbrech Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Can't say I've read any of the Honorverse series, but I'm a huge fan of David Weber and his pals. John Ringo, in particular, has an influence on the Space Marines universe... just the good, old-school exuberance of his writing is the sort of thing I'm trying to capture. That's really interesting, because, now that I think about it, aside from color, your Space Marines would be about perfect for Royal Manticorian Marines (IIRC, their power armor is black)... I'm a huge fan of the series and have read all of the books except the most recent one (mainly because I was in the process of reading all 7 Harry Potter books when it came out and have just finished). DraikNova Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I really like this project and hope this is eventually released. If there is one alien that I kinda think is missing is some sort of green reptilian, T-rex-headed creature. And of course a robot dog. Quote
Jargo Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Robot dog? I can't tell if you're being serious or facetious but this would make a decent robot now that Nick has changed the Ugokin design. Quote
DraikNova Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 I was serious. The space marines need some company, plus it would make the civilian figures seem more futuristic. Quote
The Mugbearer Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Go-go Space Marines! ^_^ I like this whole idea and even contributed a model. Quote
BasOne Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Go-go Space Marines! ^_^ I like this whole idea and even contributed a model. Show us Thanks for the kind comments. I'm currently working on the first real high-quality set design; I'll release it here on Friday. In my timezone it's saturday afternoon.... The suspense is killing me HJ..... I was serious. DraikNova Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Like this Or as an Attack Dog Kinda what I was thinking of, but I think it would look better with every bit red. Quote
BasOne Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Kinda what I was thinking of, but I think it would look better with every bit red. Too red, needed a bit of colour But the point is moot anyway, i doubt HJ would use this design even if he was inclined to make a dog But it does bring me to another point not even close to the previous. A question for HJ, Do you have an .lxf of the APC, buggy and fighter or building instructions? And if so, can i pretty please 'borrow' it Gives me a chance to play with the marines vehicles while we wait for it to make it to an aproved line, wich i fully expect around the fall of 2013 Edited April 28, 2012 by BasOne Quote
hjmediastudios Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 Actually, I like the dog design. BasOne: I'll see if I can dig up some .lxf files. I might have an .lxf of the fighter, I know I've got one somewhere for the buggy, and I know I don't have one for the APC. I do have .ldr files for all of them, though. Quote

I've got ldraw installed... so that's allright. Maybe i can convert them to .lxf files, well that means totally rebuilding them but it will give me something to do. Like LDD better them Ldraw, but to each his own I really like those designs, and i'd love to see how you build them (and maybe pick up a few usefull ideas). Quote
DraikNova Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Personally, I would prefer a more minifigure-like design for the robot dog, like your glorious Ugokin designs. Quote
hjmediastudios Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) And here's a set! High-quality, MOC-style images of the APC and drone-ship-thingies will come around tomorrow. Comments & criticism are welcome. Ugokin Ambush! by HJ Media Studios, on Flickr Edited April 28, 2012 by hjmediastudios Quote
Vindicare Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Awesome! I would definitely pick that up. It's a battle in a box! Even the box art/display is nice. The APC looks cool. The alien ships/figs are quite interesting and I like that you brick build the aliens. Nice touch. Can't wait for more! Quote
DraikNova Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Genius, just plain genius! The ships look like Atlantis guardians from it's first year and remind me of its giant snapper turtle. Back on subject though, I kinda think that the Ugokins, as they are shown on the box, are a little too hunched. Further than that though, everything is just perfect! I would like to see how you would handle a base for the marines. And even more, a base-beast for the Ugokins! PS: One way to boost the Cuusoo vote rate would be to make the Space Army figs purple. Plus, we would have the first ever completely purple fig ever! Edited April 28, 2012 by DraikNova Quote
BasOne Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I'm ordering 5 sets right now.... Great, absolutely great It's amazing how mucht thought you put into this, this is just the right size of a real Lego set. The figs are amazingly well thought out, the vehicles look great and arn't overly big or small. I really, really hope TLG considers this, not just through cuusoo but as an actual line. Quote
LEGOman273 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Utter briliance. I love it! The design is a balance of official-set-style, and MOC-style. The only negative is that TLG would never put seven 'Figs in a $29.99-price-point set. Regardless, I would buy this set in a second. Is there a seat for the driver on the APC? Quote
Flipz Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Have I mentioned that I really wisht I could support this more than just once? I really, really wish I could support this more than once... Quote
The Blue Brick Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 That set is so amazing. The design with the mini figures are just brilliant . I'm literally drooling over these computer generated images. Quote
