Posted December 7, 201113 yr I want to start building some space MOCs, but I need a whole bunch of various black, dark bley, and bley pieces. What's the best way to go about getting bulk lots that isn't super expensive? Bricklink? Ebay? Something I'm not thinking of? Thanks.
December 7, 201113 yr I would say BrickLink, but keep an eye at the prices at Lego S&H. Oh, and Welcome to Eurobricks! (Did you introduce yourself in the 'Hello! My name is...' forum and read the Site Guidelines?)
December 7, 201113 yr Well, join a club for LUGBulk orders, I always try to get good deals at Ebay. I wish I could find eBay deals anymore. Price gouging runs rampant from what I see... And Bricklink is a great deal, too. I JUST learned the nuances of it, and once you do, you can literally fill your cart in minutes with exactly the bricks you need (and a bunch you don't, haha).
December 7, 201113 yr Don't dismiss used bricks via garage sales, Craigslist and such. Buying a kids complete collection will get you a wide variety of pieces, great for mocks.
December 10, 201113 yr i am also looking to buy lots of bits to make MOC's. I've been looking on ebay for bulk loads but they go for more than I am looking to pay. The major problem i have is that i've not had lego for years so i don't really Know its value. Edited December 10, 201113 yr by hometown_unicorn

If you are near a Lego Store you could get Bulk Boxes there...they are rather expensive, but worth it for the price. I'd suggest experimenting to find out if you need 1x4, 1x6, 1x8 or whatever in bricks, BEFORE you order a box of them. Anyway, having recently worked on a large....scarp that HUGE space project recently, I would also suggest keeping an eye out for clearance. When I started collecting I managed to get a lot of red themed bricks on clearance. Even more importantly, I got multiples of these sets http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8057-1 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/7942-1 http://peeron.com/inv/sets/8402-1 Basically, by getting multiples of these sets, I was able to get a lot of goof gribleing parts, and I set up the first color. Now, giving that a LOT of new town sets are coming out next year, I think perhaps you should keep an eye on the police sets, and perhaps see if you can change your color theme to white, gray and blue.
