jasbury Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Wow, big fan of Blacktron MOCs, and these are pretty awesome! I like them all! Nice work Just need to buy some trans-yellow cockpits But then again, there's no real color scheme for blacktron-III Keep up the awesome work! Quote
Blacktron Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) Thanks Jasbury, I like your MOCs too. I've been very impressed by your Neo-Classic Space MOCs. And I like the fact that it seems you're interested in the Evil female alien and enemy Robot of CMF series 8 as much as I am. People, show more love for the bad guys. <-- Edited July 11, 2012 by Blacktron Quote
Xand0r Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 So I started collecting Neo Blacktron stuff in a Pinterest Board: http://pinterest.com/xand0r/blacktron-iii-mocs/ :) Quote
DraikNova Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Seems interesting. And does anyone else wonder why it seems to be a universal law that the "bad guys" are always way cooler than the "good guys"? Quote
Blacktron Posted July 13, 2012 Author Posted July 13, 2012 @Xandor: Thanks. I wasn't familiar with the Pinterest Board until now. Look great! @Draik Nova: A very good question. I've always been into the bad guys since I was a small kid. It did't matter it it was Star Wars, Masters of the universe or Lego. I always liked the bad guys a lot better. From CMF series 8 I only like the Female Alien, Evil robot and the bat monster. I don't know what it is. Must be some kind of Tim Burton-esque gothic gene that I was born with. Quote
DraikNova Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I think it's just to balance out that people will naturally root for the "good guys". Making the bad guys cooler just equalizes the fandom for both sides of the conflict. Quote

Nope, your not the only one. I'm allways rooting for the Bad Guy and hoping the movie has a bad ending Evil is so much more fun. And as our Lord Dark Helmet said, "Evil will allways triumph because good is dumb" Quote
turtleman2020 Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 What is Blacktron, Ive heard of it before (in about 50% of all sci fi mocs) Quote

DraikNova Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Actually, I don't believe in good and evil. The only reason I like the "bad guys" is because they are usually the one's associated with something real, chaos. Quote
mephistopheles Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 I've always been a huge blacktron fan. These remind me so much of my childhood! Thank you for that! Quote
legomr Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Quite amazing MOCs. It's interesting to see the Alienator go from what visually were four legs down to two. I thoroughly love the armour plate/black windscreen/whatever for the command tank's left driver. Quote
Blacktron Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Hey guys! I got some updates to my Neo Blacktron Line. Barricade - Light Attack Walker Barricade is a two legged attack walker, heavily armed with a frontal gatling gun. There is space for one operator in the cockpit: Hooligan - Infantry Support Unit A mecha suit, designed for attacking ground targets. It is based on the Lego Exo Force Model Claw Chrusher. Also I've uploaded some new pictures, with white background on my MOC Pages site: http://www.mocpages.com/mocs.php?id=94210 like Edited July 20, 2012 by Blacktron Quote
Xand0r Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Awesome stuff. I really like the cockpit design for the walker. Brilliant. The mecha suit is pretty cool, but the driver doesn't seem very protected! Keep up the great work. Quote
THENOOB Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I like the barricade walker, it gives off the air of an AT-ST. Quote
mephistopheles Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Excellent work! These are all really very impressive! Quote
BrickCommander Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I generally like most of these design, but I feel they should be closer to the original idea of Blacktron if you want to pin a "neo" label on them. There's too much black, and no solid yellow at all - dark gray just isn't a good substitute for a missing accent color. The tanks in particular look more like military vehicles than something from a fantasy SF-theme. Try to throw in a few yellow pieces here and there and you'll be surprised how much of a difference it can make! Quote
Xand0r Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I disagree with the Commander! I like the dark bley, and I've been using the same scheme as you in my Neo Blacktron MOCs. Pics soon! Quote

Try to throw in a few yellow pieces here and there and you'll be surprised how much of a difference it can make! Even Blacktron II was labeled "Blacktron" and it had now yellow in it. And that was an original Lego theme. I think there should be no rules in MOCing. It's my own interpretation how a neo blacktron line should look like. If you don't like it - fine, just do your own interpretation. The mecha suit is pretty cool, but the driver doesn't seem very protected! I agree with you. It's just that way, because it is based on Exo Force Claw Crusher. I'm not a big fan of this mech anymore. Just wait until you see my next one. I disagree with the Commander! BrickCommander Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 You are quite correct, Blacktron II was black and white, and the bigger sets apparently tried to compensate for this rotten "color" combination with extra-big transparent yellow pieces. My favorite set of the whole range, the "Allied Avenger" (6887) would look SO much better in different colors. I once saw a copy someone made in classic space colors, that's more like it! Of course you can build however you prefer, but I'd like to point out that even Blacktron II had an accent "color", even if it's only white. Just black/dark gray without anything else is typically not a color combination used in LEGO sets, and certainly not in Blacktron. So what is the point in calling a model neo-Blacktron if neither the design (as cool as it is on its own) nor the color scheme would remind of a 20 years old product line? Quote
Xand0r Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Seems pretty straight forward to me. "It's my own interpretation how a neo blacktron line should look like." Black + Trans Neon Green. I definitely associate these with Blacktron. The Dark Bley comes from the Rench figure: Quote
DraikNova Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Great work with these new mech's. Love the Barricade. The new blacktron trooper is a good idea too. Quote
Blacktron Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Xandor explained it perfectly, BrickCommander. Rench was the inspiration for the whole line and the color scheme. Thats why this guy is my avatar. Here is what I've explained in this thread: My inspiration for this line was the Blacktron upper body of the Rench figure in the space police line. It featured an updated Blacktron 1 design, with a blacktron 2 logo. So my line is also a modern combination of blacktron 1 and 2 colors and I replaced light grey and yellow/white with dark bley. (dark bluish grey) Blacktron 1 = Black, yellow, light grey,trans-yellow Blacktron 2 = Black, white, trans neon green There is also one more fact that isn't in the explaination yet. I wanted to remove white and yellow, because I wanted my line to be more dark and sinister than Blacktron I and II were. I love those two original lines, but I didn't want to repeat them. @DraikNova: I'm glad you like the new troopers. I thought a long time about something I could do with those CMF Space Villain torsos. These infantry troopers is what I finally came up with. The helmet isn't available in black from lego, so I casted it. Here are some better pics of them: Edited July 21, 2012 by Blacktron Quote
