Freddy Bricker Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Lego collectible minifigures 2014 rumour list: http://allaboutbrick...gures-2014.html I have absolutely no idea how reliable this is but it does mention that Series 13 will be a series based on The Simpsons, as part of a drive to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of that series I read the article and must say that they would probably be better off making a CMF line around the superheroes. I would buy that and don't think the CMF that is already existing should have anything to do with the Simpsons. Quote
Walter Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I don't like the idea of licensed collectible minifigures replacing the original ones. Licensed is cool and all, but I just like the originals better. So I'm kind of hoping this isn't true! Quote
strangely Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I'm okay with licensed collectible minifigures so long as they give us characters we can't get in a set. I would be severely disappointed if they just recycled minifigures from the sets. This is actually a good way for Lego to give us additional variations and smaller characters that we probably wouldn't have ever seen in a set. Quote
The Brick King Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I think a nice theme to have might be How to Train Your Dragon. And HtTYD 2 is coming out soon, so some sets coming out around then would be a nice surprise. Quote
Legoman123 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Does anyone think we will ever see Futurama sets ? Quote
just2good Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) Does anyone think we will ever see Futurama sets ? I doubt it. Maybe through Cuusoo. It's just a little bit more inappropriate than The Simpsons at times. Edited September 2, 2013 by just2good Quote
deskp Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I doubt it. Maybe through Cuusoo. It's just a little bit more innapropriet than The Simpsons at times. Also the show is canceled, and was never really successful. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Actually the show was cancelled a couple of different times. Plus, it is cancelled now so they wouldn't be able to have the continuing support like the Simpson's would have. It seems a lot of people want that theme, but I never could get into it. I've never met someone that likes both. Usually it is one or the other. As far as that goes, I'd rather buy Simpson's figures in a CMF than buy Futurama figure. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Does anyone think we will ever see Futurama sets ? Probably not though I'am surprised we got a Simpsons theme. It would be a great opportunity for some new Aliens though. Quote

They canned the Superhero idea? And opted for the Simpsons instead? Really? Someone thought that was the ether way to go? Quote
strangely Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I seriously doubt Lego would ever make a Futurama theme to begin with. While it does have a good cult following it has always under performed in the mainstream media. Though who knows maybe the next time it gets picked up it will actually do better and gain a good audience (Matt Groening seems to think he can get another network to pick it up, which is always a possibility). But for now there's no chance of an actual theme, minifigures or otherwise. However I could definitely see it passing as a CUUSOO set someday. A Planet Express ship set would be a perfect set. I've never met someone that likes both. Usually it is one or the other. I like both. Quote
Legoman123 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 That would be a great idea, a planet express ship but Cuusoo isn't exactly what I thought it would be if i'm being honest. Quote
strangely Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 That would be a great idea, a planet express ship but Cuusoo isn't exactly what I thought it would be if i'm being honest. Well, I would rather have an actual theme based around Futurama, but with no chance of that happening CUUSOO is really the only other option at this point. Quote
Jargo Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 If CMF's move into Licensed territory I'm out. For one thing there'd be a price rise. For another I don't like the idea of Lego relying on Licensed themes instead of continuing with in-house ones. Anything that pushes the cost of Lego higher is bad. Anything that encourages scalpers and hoarders who speculate on a child's toy is bad. Overall it's just an awful proposition. Quote
kermit Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 I dont think license themes will ever become cmf series due to the fact that they are a LICENSE product. Lego will stand to make more money making sets based on licensed theme that cmf`s. For example a lot of people bought the hellicarrier set just to get their hands on the hulk minifigure. If lego had sole it separately then they would not of made as much money had he been in a set. And besides with a cmf of a license theme we will end up with multiples of certain figures. Who wants 20 copies of loki? Quote

Who wants 20 copies of loki? I couldn't agree more, however I wouldn't mind if they made a CMF line separate to the one that already exists, you can get figs based on a theme you don't want to pay $70 for, and you still get the regular CMF series. However I doubt Lego would ever be kind enough to give us the best of both worlds, and you're right. I don't need 20 Maggie's, Loki's, etc. Maybe if they made a separate line for the Simpsons with easy to access codes and easy ways to separate the figs from one another, then I wouldn't mind this rumor being true. However the rumor indicated that the Simpsons would replace the regular CMF series, so if it is true, that would stink for CMF fans such as myself. I think if the Simpsons were to replace the current series, there would be a problem (considering how popular the series is). And anyways, I think the Simpsons would do better in a set. I think the Simpsons is a theme with too much potential to be restricted to just figs. But that's just me. Edited September 3, 2013 by STSH2013Lego Quote

Vindicare Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Ugh...they better not make Suoerheroes CMFs. Then I'd have to be rifling through packets again. I've given those up a few series ago, minus the occasional bag. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 It would be an ironic turn for Licensed CMF lines to start happening with regularity. It follows this course of events: LEGO comes out with a blind-bag collectible figure line. All of the other building companies under the sun come out with similar products but Licensed. LEGO then jumps aboard the Licensed series train. I guess since other brands keep making licensed figure lines, it is profitable. But that could also be because the other building brands don't move product nearly as well as LEGO does. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Hope LEGO holds onto that Harry Potter license - looks like new films are coming! http://www.liveforfilms.com/2013/09/12/new-series-of-films-based-in-the-harry-potter-universe/ Quote

Who wants 20 copies of loki? I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic, because we do have a ton of Lokis...he came in all the Avengers sets. They could've at least made one of them with hair or something... Also, I'd buy a ton of CMFs if they were licensed--especially superheros, many of whom have alternate costumes I could customize. The whole draw of many licensed themes is the characters. Plus, TLG superhero builds are mostly lackluster, imo. It would save me the disappointment of uninspired builds. Maybe some of you wouldn't like this, but I would, no doubt. I don't think I'm alone on this, am I? Quote
Blakstone Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 It would save me the disappointment of uninspired builds. Maybe some of you wouldn't like this, but I would, no doubt. I don't think I'm alone on this, am I? I agree but that is Clone O'Patra's point. LEGO would lose a bunch of money on sets if everyone could just buy the minifig packet to get the figures. I wouldn't buy the helicopters, flying cars, etc if I could get the figures the other way. Quote
Repeter Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 (edited) I don't think they would lose money at all. Going for a complete wave of minifigs is often equal to, or more expensive than completing a line, but one gets considerably less in total 'bricks'. It would be presumably, cheaper for LEGO to create the line but they would take in just as much money. This theory does, however, assume that just as many people would buy the CMF as they would sets, which I have no way of proving or disproving. I just know that I would love to see this happen, in conjunction with a few super hero builds. We already get very few builds throughout the year, so why would it hurt LEGO to throw us some more characters? I think this could work and they should keep the minifigs that appear in sets exclusive. Any duplicates of a character would/should have some difference. Edited September 12, 2013 by Repeter Quote
