Mr Spielbrick Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 In my book, LEGO is cool and Top Gear is cool. To me, it's an amazingly engaging tv format - I like watching it while having little to no interest in cars. As for possible sets: I'd love a mini Clarkson, May and Hammond. They'd bring a nice variety of normal, modern 'clothes' for minifigures. Quote
Sprocket Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Yeah, doing a Lego line based off Top Gear does seem like a bit of a no-brainer: I guess we'll see. Quote
Blakstone Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Top Gear is not my thing but I agree that it is a no brainer. TLG can practically make the same sets they do today, add the Top Gear brand with a few minifigs that make the hosts and expand their customer base. Quote
Sam892 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 I don't watch this show, but I'm shocked to see it's not a drama license which is a totally different targeted market. Would there be other weird reality show licenses? If TLC believe that it sells, I'm happy to see more TV program licensed themes and the BBC Sherlock project have a bigger chance. Doctor Who had given license to Character company, but they also make Minecraft toys. Unless they don't mind to have a competitor. Top gear isn't a reality show, it's entertainment. It doesn't have a voting system where people can vote others off, nor does it follow the day to day life of the presenters. The show is scripted and also has a review element to it. This theme has a lot of potential for vehicles, in the concept photos the car resembles an aerial atom which is cool. Hopefully it will give us a chance to get a lot of real world cars along with some new studio type stuff. This theme reminds me a lot of the 2001 Studios theme. Quote
SirBlake Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 A Top Gear license sounds too good to be true. I would just open my wallet and start throwing money at Lego. Man I hope this is more than just a rumor. Quote
Plissken Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Disney got the right for all future Indiana Jones films.http://www.digitalsp...-paramount.html Maybe LEGO will renew their license if a new Film or Series is on the horizon Quote
Thego Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I suppose there is precedent for a Jeremy Clarkson minifigure. Most of the superheroes villains are evil, bigoted *******s too. Quote
Savage Oppress Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I would love to see a Power Rangers Lego Theme whenever Mega-Bloks decides to get tired of making them. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted December 8, 2013 Author Posted December 8, 2013 Unless there's a rumor of Power Rangers becoming a theme, it belongs in the dream topic not here, please. Quote
Ashnflash Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I don't now if anyone has said this but maybe they will bring back a Space theme or a new theme with Johnny Thunder because of the Lego Movie Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 hope they make sets for 2014 Of course Lego is making sets this year. Just like every year since forever. Quote
Dorayaki Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I don't now if anyone has said this but maybe they will bring back a Space theme or a new theme with Johnny Thunder because of the Lego Movie Lice....nse? Quote
just2good Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 (edited) Here's something! The elusive Reddit user 'legocody' posted this on /r/lego: Hello friends, my rather reliable friend has provided new and exciting info he would like me to share with you. Keep in mind that this is the same fellow who provided early exclusive pictures of the Parisian House.[1] Keep in mind the fact that this is the same fellow who provided that false Simpsons set list. My friend says that Lego Group is attempting to negotiate a license for Despicable Me sets for the next film. He knows someone at Lego, and own a smaller toy shop in the United Kingdom. I hope this is a true thing, as I like Lego and my daughter loves the Minions. Take care and God bless. I liked the first two films, and there's two other ones planned- a third in 2017, and a prequel/spinoff for the Minions in 2015. I wonder which "next film" he's referring to. I'm sure it's the Minions film. Edited April 27, 2014 by just2good Quote
Brickity Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 2017?!?! Aww man By that time I'll be in my dark ages I'm sure. Quote
just2good Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 2017?!?! Aww man By that time I'll be in my dark ages I'm sure. Maybe mid-2015, if it's for the Minions film. Quote
Oky Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 That would be neat. I would buy the heck out of a minions battle pack. The minions are gonna be hard to pull off as minifigs, though, due to their pill-shape. In fact, all the characters would need new head molds, much like the Simpsons and Toy Story. We'll see how this turns out, if it is true. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, this would be the first non-Disney animated movie to get System sets (not counting The Clone Wars). Quote
just2good Posted April 27, 2014 Posted April 27, 2014 Also, correct me if I'm wrong, this would be the first non-Disney animated movie to get System sets (not counting The Clone Wars). Why not counting The Clone Wars? The film got some sets in 2008. Yeah, while unlike other I think the Minions will be easy to pull off, I'm not sure how they'll do the other characters while being consistent. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I knew about the Minion movie, but DM3 in 2017? WITH LEGO SETS? (alongside The Lego Movie 2) Holy Megabloks 2017 will be awesome. Quote

They could use the current 2x2 dome piece, and give it printing, as they did for R2D2, as the top. So more than a special mold, they would need printing. I think the same would work for the bottom using the 2x2 round brick, or a stack of the 2x2 round plates. The feet could be either a new mold, or existing pieces as well. Quote

I would imagine the minions would use a design not unlike Spongebob. Maybe with a forward facing stud or two so you can swap around faces and eye layouts? Also, correct me if I'm wrong, this would be the first non-Disney animated movie to get System sets (not counting The Clone Wars). Depends on what you count as movies, vs animated properties? They have had tons of animated IP's. Avatar, Ben10, TMNT etc. but I think only Disney and Pixar would count as Theatrical release movies. Maybe Spongebob, as one of those sets featured the Burger Car from the movie? Quote
SMC Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 NuffSaid1996 has brought this up "Well all Jurassic Park fans, Chris Pratt aka Emmet and Starlord will be getting his third LEGO minifigure. (Is this a record or something!?) On the BrickFan website there was an article ( http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-jurassic-world-sets-confirmed-by-chris-pratt/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+LegoEverlasting-LegoReviewsNews+%28The+Brick+Fan+-+LEGO+Reviews+%26+News%29) ) Chris Pratt announced that his character "Owen" will be getting the LEGO treatment!" It does seem odd that KRE-O would loss the license just because the film has been delayed but it would also be odd if Chris Pratt did not know the difference between lego and KRE-O I would love to see Jurassic Park lego and we know lego can do a good job as the dino range was great Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted August 2, 2014 Author Posted August 2, 2014 Thanks for bringing this topic back up. Being out of town, it's hard to link to things. If we get confirmation from a more official source, a dedicated topic can be started. Quote
_epicster_ Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Hey, aren't we getting Minifig-scale Minecraft? that's something to add to this thread. Quote
