You remember that you only have two pieces of rope. You won't be able to build two simple ranged siege weapons and a platform that incorporates rope.

"It seems like building a large siege weapon might be harder than we imagined. Does anyone think we could possibly capture a siege weapon from the elves and bring it back to the castle? If we manage to ambush a small group of elves, we might succeed."

"I've finished my hand cannon, I would like to test it out on a tree with my ruby in my bow."

You remember that your Ruby is merged with your bow. You need a smith to unmerge it. In addition, you do not have the magical skill necessary to wield such a magical cannon.

"Say, you think I could try using that?"

"Say, you think I could try using that?"

"Nah, you can't wield a hand cannon. I continue digging the hole with my pickaxe."

OOC: Can I keep the hand cannon in my inventory so that I may use it later on?

QM Note:

You won't be able to use it in this Quest, that I'm sure of, and since it's just a box with a piece of glass in it (never mind that you don't have a piece of glass or mirror or a gem) it would have a rather low WP. Whichever gem you would have used will be of more use in someone else's hands, and if you're planning to eventually become an Evoker to use gems, you'll get more power out of a wand or staff than from this box.

Alex continues digging.

"How many stakes do we have? Also, the birds say they've seen some activity, at night we could wait and see if they show up to check on what we are doing. We could capture them and get some info out of them."

You realize that for every hero working on stakes, you can cover one small wall's length or half a large wall's length around the fort. If eight heroes work on the stakes, you can surround the fort, but they will then have no time to do anything else.

I'll hammer in stakes in front of the storage lean-to side, therefor if they put siege towers to the walls and attack the portcullis winch room, they have to go around the other side of the fort.

You line the area with wooden stakes. The South-East wall now cannot be attacked by close combat siege engines until the stakes are destroyed. You also are now too exhausted to do anything else before the elves attack.

"Did we already dig the holes?"

QM Note:

I'm trying to keep things simple. Unless you want to dig holes.

OOC: I thought we discussed building holes for the elves to fall into. I'm just asking if anybody dug them, because earlier we had measurements and I thought we dug them, but we had no confirmation of it.

QM Note:

Oh! Sorry, I thought you meant holes to put the stakes into. No, you haven't dug that big hole yet.

OOC: We NEED to reinforce the West wall. It has the lowest Health, remember? Also, if we take out the footbridge, the Elves will be stuck attacking the West and North sides of the fort. ;) Can we go with that plan? (The hole is fine, tho I think we should line the bottom with spikes, but I feel the West wall and the footbridge are more important.)

-==IC: Arthur==-

Arthur takes some stakes and begins to set them up along the West wall. "Hey, guys, can we please take out the footbridge now? Also, I may need some help setting these up along the West wall. Oh, and if someone really wants to set up a fire bomb to a trip wire, I'd be happy to hand them mine if needed."

You realize that if you work by yourself, you will have to space the stakes farther apart than you'd like. Close combat siege engines will then need to take 5 Rounds navigating between the stakes before they can attack the wall, instead of being prevented from attacking.

"Hey guys, I'd really like some help..."

OOC: I'll go ahead and set them up anyway, and if anyone else wants to finish the job, they can.

"Slow down, lad, don't do the job haphazardly." Arasmyth grabs some more stakes and fills in gaps lef by Arthur.

You cover the ground in front of the West Wall with stakes, so that any close-combat siege engines cannot attack the wall until the stakes are destroyed. You too are now too exhausted to do anything else before the elves attack.

QM Note:

I have an idea, but a picture would help.

OOC: It was my Avalonia Siege Master entry, sorry if I can't find an image, I'm on my phone.

IC: Althior, want to use your garnet to dig the hole?

"It seems we should think carefully as to what our final preparations should be, since three of our fellow quest mates are now exhausted. Setting up the siege weapon should be a top priority, correct?"
