K-Nut Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 "Well, it's a big mix of things. I'll start from the beginning. Althior's been through too much to handle. Differing from what he'd tell you, his sister never forgot him, she was never married. She was murdered. He himself ended the lives of the murderers, forcing him to run away. He's been trying to forget the past for years. Althior is living in a world of lies, not even Alexis, the love of his life, doesn't know the truth. He has the mark of Abraxas, making him depressed, he's leading seven heroes into war, he's missing the love of his life, and he doesn't know if he'll ever get back to see her. He's at a loss of what to do, he's corrupted and full of hatred and anger, he's trying to hold it all in, and it's hard. Too hard. No man should have to deal with all that. Never," On the other side of the field, Althior was dealing with his mind. Abraxas was going to get to him, somehow, and he knew he'd try and kill him again. Soon. Very soon.
Flipz Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Arthur frowned. "My dad knew someone like that, once. Said he met him on another Plane not terribly removed from our own. Refused to say anything else about it, wonder if that guy was Althior's Counterpart." Arthur stared at the ground, deep in thought. "Abraxas...that was the name of a demon, wasn't it? If I recall, it had something to do with the Zeigfrieds." He looked at Finnegan. "So why is Althior here and not off on Quest 14? Or, better yet, on a Quest of his own to cleanse him of the Mark? Why is he wasting his time with a bunch of numbskulls like us?"
K-Nut Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "Well, the game doesn't work like that, plus he wanted to make it to an advanced class he missed the sign ups for Quest #14, and until he's ready, I think he wants to stay as far away from Abraxas as possible. He doesn't want to lose Alexis already, because he thinks that when he faces Alexis, he's not going to return home. He's thinks he's going to die fighting Abraxas, and if he is, he's taking that demon down with him,"

If he just told us back at the Hall, he could have had an army of Heroes setting out with the sole purpose of taking Abraxas down. I doubt even a super-powerful demon could handle twenty Heroes at once." OOC: Yeah, I know, not gonna happen, but again, trying to keep IC.
K-Nut Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "You underestimate him. He specializes in darkness magic, he's the world's most powerful necromancer, and he apparently has a pretty badass costume. Not even all of Heroica could take him down, and I'm not exaggerating. The demon is a cold blooded killer, he'll destroy all of Eubric without hesitation,"

The demon is a cold blooded killer, he'll destroy all of Eubric without hesitation," Arthur had no reply, and so sat in silence for quite some time. At length, Finnegan's hovering reminded him of something else he wanted to ask. "Say, Finnegan, you've mentioned several times about seeking a she-aura. In this land, are you a natural species at all, or are you all conjured up by wizards and mages?"
K-Nut Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "How should I know, if there's a he-aura, there must be a she-aura!" With that Althior had decided to walk back over, and he somehow knew Finnegan had told Arthur about Lilian. "There's a reason I keep my past under wraps, got it? You do not tell anybody about what Finnegan told you, or else..." He walked away, with his locket out. Now that someone had known the truth, he would tell Alexis the full truth when he saw her again. He knew that she deserved it. He stuffed the locket in his hand, holding onto it for dear life almost, hoping Alexis would sense he would always be there for her, no matter how far he was away.
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "Althior!! Help us with the counterbalance issue will you?"
Flipz Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 (edited) Arthur opened his mouth as if to reply, but shut it quickly. Althior clearly wasn't in a talking mood. Abraxas...apparently this demon has been active long before the Zeigfrieds got involved. Perhaps some additional study would be in order once I get back to the Hall. In the meanwhile, it seemed that his allies had forgotten their potential defenses. "Alright, fellas, it appears we need just one more person to finish up the catapult, unless we need someone else to fill the stones. I say our last party member should cut some firimg holes in the side of the fort with a Pick we can use the barrel of rainwater downstairs as our counterweight. Actually, if we bring up enough nails and attach a half-barrel to each side of the launch arm, we could load one side, then load the other and drop the barrel to launch the first side, then re-load the first side and drop that barrel to launch the second side, and so on back and forth in opposite directions. Of course, that'd only work if there are foes on both sides, but..." OOC: Can't remember if this was ever addressed...I'll read back and see, edit if it already was. EDIT: OOC: It was, but there was no answer. I'll assume there are arrow loops along all the walls. Also, I'm assuming when we reload each barrel, we have it on a small stand first, then kick the stand out from under the weight to launch...does that make sense? Don't forget, I want my speech to the troops before we battle the Elves! Edited January 2, 2012 by Flipz
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "Freeze yourself solid Arthur, since I'm the stand in leader, I get to make the motivational speech. "
K-Nut Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "Althior!! Help us with the counterbalance issue will you?" "Okay, so we could have something holding up the counterweight which is tied to then end of the throwy thingy, we somehow temporarily pull it in or something like that, and the catapult fires. Or we could screw the whole thing and just use a bunch of flick-fire missiles,"
Dharkan Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "There's no point of staying here doing nothing. I'll go try to find some rocks, that I can carry, to use as boulders to throw with catapult." She was kinda bored but then again, the real action was soon enough. "Anyone up for helping me for that?"
Flipz Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Arthur moves next to Althior, then appears to take a nap. Just as Finnegan tries to wake him, he rolls out of the way. He pokes his head up to see what happened to Althior...

He pokes his head up to see what happened to Althior... Althior smiled as he saw Arthur trying to spy on him. "Wait, what's that?" He looked out to the fields, "Are those the elves coming at us right now?"
Brickdoctor Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 QM Note: K-nut, you're the Party Leader. Make some decisions here. Even if you are exhausted, you can still give out orders.
K-Nut Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 QM Note: K-nut, you're the Party Leader. Make some decisions here. Even if you are exhausted, you can still give out orders. OOC: Wait, I'm exhausted? I made a suggestion about the catapult, but I'm waiting for some other people to chip in on my idea, which hasn't happened. "Spag, assuming you're not exhausted, go help Isabella get some boulders, will you? I'll even send Finnegan along," "Dang it!"
Brickdoctor Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 OOC: Wait, I'm exhausted? I made a suggestion about the catapult, but I'm waiting for some other people to chip in on my idea, which hasn't happened. QM Note:Uh, no, you're not. Sorry, it's been a busy and distracting holiday for me. I believe Flipz and Capt.JohnPaul are. Spag and Isabella return with enough boulders for 1 Battle.
Dharkan Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "There you go! I hope these will do the work, it was kinda tiring for us to carry them but I think they worth it! Now it is time to finish our big gun and we can crush some elves before they try to get in." OOC: I guess now we are exhausted then. :P
K-Nut Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 OOC: I guess now we are exhausted then. :P OOC: I think he'd say if you were. "These should be enough. We can always go back after the battle to get more," "Do you guys have any suggestions for the catapult?"
posades Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 OOC: I think he'd say if you were. "These should be enough. We can always go back after the battle to get more," "Do you guys have any suggestions for the catapult?" "Depending on how far we want the catapult to throw its projectiles, I believe simple man power could work. Someone with considerable strength could pull a rope attached to the far end of the catapult that is run under the frame, causing it to come down. However this might limit the amount of ammunition that can be loaded in the barrel."
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 "Anybody going to need anything while I'm away, I could go fetch something." Alex goes to explore the walls to see if there is any slits to fire his crossbow from.
Brickdoctor Posted January 2, 2012 Author Posted January 2, 2012 "Anybody going to need anything while I'm away, I could go fetch something." Alex goes to explore the walls to see if there is any slits to fire his crossbow from. You see that there are arrow loops in all the walls. Positioning yourself inside the walls instead of on top of them will prevent you from losing any Health as long as the wall stands, but it you will only be able to act every other Round.
Flipz Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Arthur idly wonders who in the party is still not exhausted, and wonders if ANYONE in the party will make up their minds and do something. He quietly thanks the Voice In The Sky that he has prevented the Elves from attacking while most of his fellow quest-mates run around like chickens with their heads cut off. He suddenly remembers Atramor, and hopes that Finnegan didn't overhear that and get any ideas. He decides to say something so there's an actual point to the post to distract Finnegan from that train of thought. "Hey Finnegan, I'm feeling kind of grouchy all of a sudden. Any idea why?"
Brickdoctor Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Arthur idly wonders who in the party is still not exhausted, QM Note:Over the course of the holiday, I've sort of forgotten myself. I'd expected this to go a lt faster, so I didn't write it down. I believe you and Alexandre(Capt.JohnPaul) are exhausted. Keep in mind that that's not really a measure of anything, also; it's just a term I'm using to ensure that you don't attempt anything or series of things that you shouldn't be able to complete in the time you realistically have.
