K-Nut Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Okay, we use the halberd to cut the trunk in half, then we get knives, more axes, or anything else sharp to cut each half hollow, like now, it would look like a canoe. (For each half) Then we use that glue substance we were talking about to glue them together. And then we have a cannon. QM Note: Gotcha. Who wants to start listing their specific bold actions? "My thoughts exactly, god. Alright, whoever doesn't make their actions in a bold fashion gets to clean the horse stables, deal? " Althior, failing at his search for bowls to stick together for cannonballs, decides to throw random spices together, hoping to come up with some sort of consumable item.

Alternatively, instead of cutting the log in half we could use this really old spoon-drill I saw in a picture in a book once, but we'd need a way to power it at high speed, since we don't have all night to work. Perhaps..." Arthur seemed reluctant to continue, but realized that given the limited resources of the fort, the use of some magic would be unavoidable. "Perhaps we could attach a small 'sail' to the drill, and Arasmyth or Althior could whip up a miniature windstorm to spin the drill with wind power?"

Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 "Don't forget the metal bands, though, glue won't be enough for a cannon. " I already mentioned that. I don't have the halberd, so I can't do anything now.
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 "Alright then, I won't press you for information. But can you please trust us and not buck off anyone?"

(which is to provide battle and movement bonuses) You just won't get any information out of him.
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 "Alright Althior, he's all yours, or mine...."
Flipz Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) Arthur sees a reply appear in the book before his eyes. I am not sure what I can do to help, but something has crossed my mind. The fortress is bordered by a river and a forest, correct? Have you considered having your ranger speak to the creatures in those regions, perhaps they could distract and possibly even attack the elves. Should that fail the birds of the forest might be able to scout out the elven positions, or carry news. You could deliver messages in the battle to your fellow heroes, to tell them of coming attacks or vulnerabilities. Likewise you could send a bird to search for other Lion Knights, if any are lose by. Perhaps near the end you can send a bird with a message to the elves, the context depending on how well you fought. Have you considered using gunpowder to shoot a "spear" at the foes? But make the spear packed with gunpower so that it explodes on impact. I think I saw something like that before, but I might be describing it wrong. Aside from that I am not sure how much I could help you, as the war(s?) that I remember was a bit different. One of them was on a vast tropical island, with six villages battling an evil "demon." The villages had limited weaponry, like metal tridents and bamboo disks, and only one of them had a really strong military. I remember that two villages used mounts, one rode giant birds to give them superiority of the skies, and the other rode strong crabs which could take a lot of damage. I am not sure if that can help. I am actually on a quest now, so I have not seen Cinna. He cries out. "Why didn't I think of that! Guys, listen, we just need a very small, thin hole through the log. We can then load the wood cannon with stakes! Actually, now that I think of it..." He quickly scribbles in the book. De'kra, you're a genius! I'll explain more later. Good luck on your Quest! Arthur runs downstairs to the kitchen and grabs a couple dozen or so wooden cups in preparation for his next invention (OOC: the segments of palm trees make a good LEGO representation of the cups I'm talking about). After going to a more open area, he borrows a blade and carefully cuts holes in the bottom of the cups, then nails them together into rows, and then nails the rows together into a sort of rectangular panel, with the holes facing front and back. Next, he takes four boards and nails them around the cups as a frame. Before attaching the bottom plank, he nails it to another board (roughly 6x8 studs, I think--I don't have the bricks in front of me right now to test this build), then nails the frame to that plank so that the contraption is in sort of an L shape. He nails a pair of stakes to the sides of the solid board, making the shape more of an upside-down T. Finally, he makes a hole in two boards like before, nails them to the solid (6x8) board on opposite sides, pushes an extra-long stake through them, and attaches the wheels they had found earlier to the stake. He then takes a few stakes and some gunpowder and fashions what the ancient Aoi had called "fire arrows" (OOC: note: not fire-elemental ), and loads them into the device. While he's working, he also fashions half a dozen lids for buckets, carving them out of wood... "Ta-da! I call it...the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha! What do you think? Althior, unless you think we should do something else with it, I'm going to put this thing on top of the wall in such a position that it can defend the South-West wall (or whichever wall we saw the Elves were going to attack from)." OOC: Stop reading now if you don't want to be totally grossed out...but remember, this is war. IC: "Oh, and one more thing...Attention All Lion Knights!" Arthur hoists a bucket in the air, along with a lid. "If any of you have any...business...to take care of before the Elves get here, leave it here. DO NOT forget to attach the lid tightly when you're done, for ALL of our sakes! Once the battle starts, we'll launch these at the Elves using the catapult. That'll make them think twice before attacking us again!" Edited January 28, 2012 by Flipz
Kenghis Ghan Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 "Finally! I've been needing to 'make a deposit' ever since we first started this damn defending thing!"
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 (edited) Now that we have this thing, we need to haul it up to the tower. One thing, how do we drink water now? Alex uses his warrior strength to bring the contraption up to the tower. (North East Flipz?) OOC: to Flipz Edited January 28, 2012 by Capt.JohnPaul
Brickdoctor Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 QM Note: This defense will work, though you do need to place it on either the ground or the North-West tower. (the only tower big enough to support a siege engine) Feel free to continue planning while I build the hwacha. (with physical LEGO bricks)
Flipz Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 QM Note: This defense will work, though you do need to place it on either the ground or the North-West tower. (the only tower big enough to support a siege engine) Feel free to continue planning while I build the hwacha. (with physical LEGO bricks) Arthur attempts to judge the relative strength of the catapult verses the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha--that is, which one could hold up to more punishment--as well as whether the catapult would be effective at all on the ground. This last element convinces him to have the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha placed on the ground near the South-West tower. "Hey, guys...who should we have manning the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha? Preferably someone who would be ineffective at range, but highly effective up close. We want someone weak enough (at least at range) that the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha would be an improvement over their basic fighting skills, but strong enough to hold their own once the Elves close to melee range. Who would you suggest, Althior? One of us? One of the men?"
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I attach some glass onto my bow, increasing my accuracy thus making my bow stronger.
Brickdoctor Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 I attach some glass onto my bow, increasing my accuracy thus making my bow stronger. You realize that you don't currently have any glass. Where will you get glass from, and what shape will it be in? How will it be attached?QM Note: So that the lack of a proper picture doesn't slow things down, here are the stats for the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha. I assumed you could make enough gunpowder for around a hundred arrows. Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha Requires 1 Operator Level: 5 Health: 15/15 Ammunition: Explosive Arrows (8 Turns-worth) - The Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha will target every enemy in front of a selected wall. (example statement of action: "Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha targets enemies in front of the East Wall") Explosive arrows have a 50% chance per target of exploding violently and imparting a Burning effect, causing the target to lose 2 Health per Round until the fire is extinguished. Note: The Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha must take a Turn after each attack to reload - this need can be eliminated by assigning a second Operator to the weapon.
Fred Daniel Yam Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I look in the kitchen for a circular piece of glass, it will be attached to the the bow so that it can line up a shot (slightly above the arrowhead)
