K-Nut Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 OOC: Is there a pic for the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha? "What do you guys say, do you think we're ready? Or should set up a few more defenses?"
Brickdoctor Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 OOC: Is there a pic for the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha? QM Note:I'm building it right now.
Kadabra Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 OOC: Add me to the list of completely lost bystanders. IC: Arasmyth leaned against the fort wall, fingering one of the gunpowder packed stakes. He looked at the makeshift cannon skeptically, but at Althior's orders he loaded it into the machine's barrel and took up the controls.
Flipz Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) OOC: Would an ordinary soldier be allowed to be assigned to reload the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha? Or should we put Spag there to help Arasmyth? Oh, and Kadabra, there's about 50 arrows in the standard hwacha...per shot. Lemme find a Wikipedia link, I'll edit it in... -==IC: Arthur==- "OK, let's recap what we have so far. Isabella and I are still working the catapult, as that seems to be working well against the Elves. Arasmyth will be at the foot of the wall with the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha, possibly with Spag to help reload if Althior approves. William and Alexandre will be in the wall somewhere...preferably stationed so as to be able to defend multiple sides of the fort. Althior, presumably, will be atop the wall, ready to give orders and cast spells. Where will Xander be? Atop the wall in case any Elves manage to scale it? At the foot of the wall, to protect Arasmyth and the Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha (and possibly Spag) from the enemy? And what about the Lion Knights, will we keep our spread or rearrange everyone?" EDIT: Better than Wikipedia, here's a YouTube! Edited January 31, 2012 by Flipz

QM Note:As with the catapult, no, you have to have heroes operating it. You said when you were building the hwacha that you were using about a dozen cups in the construction. I assumed that meant you'd constructed one that would fire a dozen arrows.

Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (My position is wrong, after the first round, K-nut and I decided will be on top of the wooden look-out tower) From atop my position, I try and see what the elves are bringing, or if they are here yet.
K-Nut Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (My position is wrong, after the first round, K-nut and I decided will be on top of the wooden look-out tower) OOC: Oh yeah! I did do that! Althior breaths in and out, almost silently, awaiting the elves arrival. He places his hand on the locket, shaking a bit as he does so. He'd live to fight another day. He had to. He knew his destiny was to stop Abraxas at some point. The battle came nearer every minute, and he became less and less confident. "I'm ready." "Oh Arasmyth! Take that Smelling Salts now, will you? You should be able to reload once a turn!"

You can't spot elves coming from any other direction.

Flipz Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Arthur runs down to Arasmyth, pulls the smelling salts from his belt, puts them in his hand, and helpfully removes the lid. He knows better than to try and force-feed the salts to the mage, so instead he returns to the catapult and tries to mind-trick Arasmyth into drinking the smelling salts before the battle begins.

He knows better than to try and force-feed the salts to the mage, so instead he returns to the catapult and tries to mind-trick Arasmyth into drinking the smelling salts before the battle begins. You convince Arasmyth to consume the Smelling Salts. From your position atop the lookout tower, Alexandre, you spot elves marching across the open land south of the fort. You can see mounted scouts using their horses to move a conical object on wheels - a battering ram made the way only elves do, its metal tip polished to a shine. Since you had destroyed the bridge, the enemy forces prepare to enter the water. "That's not good. The river will slow down the men on foot for 2 Rounds, during which they will be unable to fight back should you attack them, but the horses will be able to tow the ram and its operators across in only 1 Round. Those elven rams are made from the finest wood, extremely light yet incredibly strong. The horses won't have any trouble pulling it across, and the elves will fill the hollow areas of the ram with dirt once they get to the other side to give it the mass necessary to break down walls." "Sir! We're seeing a two-pronged attack from the elves. The bulk of the force is crossing the river to the south, and a smaller force is crossing the river further west and will probably strike from the forest. Luckily, both the Catapult and the Hwacha have open shots at both groups. You can see the positions of our men and the enemy here:" PREPARE FOR BATTLE! I also suggest attacking the Archers, then Mounted scouts."
Flipz Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "Althior! Shall we attack just the battering ram with a Large Stone or the archer in the larger group (Archer A?) with small stones?" "ALSO! Everyone, do NOT attack the Elven Scout until the Battering Ram is destroyed! We can take his Free Hits, and that way his special will be relatively useless!"
Dharkan Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "Yeah, what do you think Althior?" I'm just getting ready to fire the catapult.
