"Great idea, Alexanre, though I wonder how we will contain the oil and honey for the fire bombs, since we already used the only disposable containers." Arthur passes the kitchen and smells delicious odors wafting from within. "We've done quite a bit with our carpentry efforts, we definitely need to weaponize a bit more of the kitchen. Do some things that are just insane enough to work, like making a bellows filled with spicy...spices to Blind the enemy." Arthur suddenly remembers the "special" buckets he had made earlier, and wondered what kind of effect they would have if he actually remembered to use them.

I know! Do we have any rope though?

QM Note:

Not that I plan to hinder your plans with something so trivial as exact amount of rope, but I believe you have at least three pieces still.

"I believe we had a piece before, but we made the catapult with it."

EDIT: Nevermind! Doc beat me to it. Again. :hmpf_bad:

"I believe we had a piece before, but we made the catapult with it."

You recall that the catapult was assembled with nails and is driven by counterweight - no rope was used. Rather, you used one piece of rope rigging the Fire Bombs. (and it was, obviously, destroyed in the fire that followed)

I go to the river and see if there are any creatures.

You see some small fish, some frogs, and a couple birds who flee as you approach, in addition to the expected plethora of small arthropods.

Althior suggests to Arthur to look into his telescope to see if the elves are near.

At your suggestion, Arthur goes to the top of the Lookout Tower and sweeps the surrounding area with his telescope. He reports seeing some movement in the forest, as well as humanoids moving in the distance to the east.

"Say, can someone stronger please put some stakes in front of the East-facing walls? Actually, I feel our time would best be served if each of us puts stakes in front of walls. Not the Towers, we can defend those just fine. Our other defenses can hold against ordinary Elves, but I'm worried we'll have to face tougher siege weaponry. We should definitely move the oil, water, rocks, Hiyaaaaaa Hwacha, and troops around before the Elves arrive, though!"

Aha! Rope, now we can make containers to hold the oil and honey for the fire bombs.

Alex takes some wood and cuts the planks (spares we had or borrowed one from stakes) to smaller rectangles about the size of a ruler. He cuts multiple and also carves two wooden circles. He puts the small planks on top of the wooden bottom, (one of the circles) It now makes a rough cup shape. Time for the rope. Alex intertwines the rope between the spaces of the wood. "Can I borrow some oil?" After the oil was fetched, he drenches the wooden and rope "cup" into the oil. "There, now it is water/liquid proof." He puts on the other wooden circle as a cap. Now what he holds is a cylinder. Now we mix the ingredients for the fire bomb and pour it in here. And since this is an entire plank, we could make multiple.

OOC: Doc, would this work? :look::blush:

QM Note:

You could've just asked for a barrel. Sure, it'd be a huge Fire Bomb, but there's nothing wrong with a bigger explosion, right?

But in any case, if you read back through the quest, (not that I expect you to, considering the length) I had stated that there were no more ingredients for Fire Bombs. You'll need to find some ingredient other than honey. (I can think of one - but I'm not telling  )

Though you could use gunpowder, if someone wants to go and make more of that. It'll take a lot of gunpowder to fill a barrel, though.

Molotov anyone? Hopefully this works... :classic:

"These are the only bottles of rum in the fort. I swiped them from Sir Lawrence's room when he was inspecting the Gatehouse."

The cook hands you three bottles of rum.

QM Note:

I'll assume that this is rum with a high enough alcohol content to burn for a long enough period of time to do damage.

If I fight on my horse, will I gain movement bonuses?

You recall that you were told before the first battle that mounting (equipping) a Horse doubles one's rate of movement. However, it does take a Turn to mount and another Turn to dismount.

Umm..... sure! Definitely.

Alexandre makes two more containers and fills each up with the oil and each with a bottle of rum. He goes over to the well and puts water back into the glasses.

"There, now if you look at the bottle, it will still look like there's rum in it. (assuming it is a colored glass) And we have 3 fire bombs. We should put one in front of the gateway, and another in front of the East wall. Shall we save our next one for the next round, just in case?"

QM Note:

Yes, but you can't move a horse through a tower or wall, so you'd either have to stay outside to take advantage of the movement bonuses.

I just meant that the horses are not a practical form of transport for getting from one place to another inside the fort during a battle.

< Damn Humans! Riding me through a door? Why?!?! >

The horse neighs loudly as it tries to get unstuckified.

Ahahahahahhhaaa!!! :laugh_hard::laugh_hard::rofl::roflmao: How hilarious!

Alex goes out and digs small holes. He puts one fire bomb in front of the gate way, and another in a hole in front of the East wall. So when the elves fill up the battering rams with dirt, the fire bomb goes with it, and when the ram slams into the wall, the bomb would ignite. Perfect. (NOTE: the bombs are away from the forest.)
