Brickdoctor Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 "How about arrowroot? If you have the leaves of the arrowroot plant, I can grind them up to get what I need. Actually, chalk dust (which you may know of as agricultural lime) would also work, or gypsum if you have it." Arthur then considers the honey. "That will work, I'll have to dilute the mixture and change the means of deployment. Actually, that'll make the powder unnecessary, though it would be very useful for other purposes." Arthur decides to explain what he's planning. "If I can get a dry powder mixed with sugar, I can create a powder that will linger in the air when blown out through a bellows or something similar, and can be lit into a spectacular fireball even without magic. Since the honey is a little more dense, we'd probably be pouring it into jars and throwing them, but it'll still be effective. We just dilute the honey, add a tiny amount of oil to ensure easy ignition, light, and throw. Boom! Sticky, burning mess all over the elves and their stuff." "Sir, this is a military kitchen, not an emporium."
Flipz Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 "Right. Honey, water, and oil it is. I'll need some jars to store this in, preferably something really fragile and expendable." Arthur mixes up the improvised napalm.

Arthur is filled with an inexplicable euphoria, the likes of which he hadn't felt since the first time he figured out how to craft a fishing pole. He holds the fire bombs above his head in triumph, and somewhere a familiar tune plays faintly. "We do, but Sir Lawrence keeps it locked up." "No rum?! Why is the rum always gone?!?"
K-Nut Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 QM Note: From what I read, corn starch wasn't invented until 1842. OOC: Wait? When the hell is this?! 1826? I can still go and stop Lincoln's untimely death! "Well, Arthur, since you created the bombs, I'll let you keep one, while I give the other one to Xander. That sound good? I think we should check around the fort a bit more until we head to the forest, just in case the QM, whoever that is, starts the attack once we get to the forest. Looking at the map,": "Shall we go to the stables?" "Chickens, so many of them! They're closing in on me! Ahhhh!!!"
Kenghis Ghan Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Spag has a little trouble holding the halberd upright at first, but he soon gets the hang of it. "I'm ready to go... uhmm... y'know, wherever!"
Flipz Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) "Sounds good, Party Leader. To the stable!" EDIT: OOC: Wait, is the entire party online at the same time?! Madness! Edited December 14, 2011 by Flipz
Dharkan Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 "Well then let's go, you are the leader anyway." (feel free to post for me in the night party leader (or morning for US people :P) )
Brickdoctor Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 "Well, Arthur, since you created the bombs, I'll let you keep one, while I give the other one to Xander. That sound good? QM Note:Sorry, should've been clearer on this. Arthur made the bombs, so, like I listed in the last party stat post, he gets both of them. He can distribute them as he sees fit. "Shall we go to the stables?" Despite the fact that it is nighttime and quite chilly outside, you lead the party to the Stables, which are built up along the inner side of the East Wall.. A lone man is inside, getting two horses settled for the night.
Kenghis Ghan Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Spag decided he would be first to converse with the random stranger. "Er... Hi."

Flipz Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 "I think I'll go with Althior's suggestion and give one fire bomb to Xander." Arthur walks over to the stable boy. "Hello, sir! Would you happen to have some rope we could use for making traps? Also, who are those horses for? Do you have warriors trained in mounted combat or something?"
Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 "Kind sir, do you have any use for those wheels? If not, can I please have them?"

"That's only one wheel, but sure, I don't have any use for it."
Capt.JohnPaul Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Hmm.. we could cut the wheels and trees from the forest and sharpen stakes and throwing spears, then we create an obvious weak point. For example, we only let the elves come across the bridge, but on the other side is all our stakes. Since the elves will have trouble getting through, we could put more troops on a different wall. I'm sure a tree could provide us plenty of stakes. Who wants to come with me down to the forest?

"Do you have any rope or string?"

Arthur turns back to the stable boy. "Do you have any rope or string?" "Rope? Sure, we have one that we're not using." QM Note: For simplicity's sake, one piece of rope can do anything any length of rope could do, but you can't cut it up to make more pieces.

QM Note: For simplicity's sake, one piece of rope can do anything any length of rope could do, but you can't cut it up to make more pieces. Arthur takes the rope. "Great, thanks. Any spare nails, perhaps some old, worn-out horsehoes?"
Brickdoctor Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 Arthur takes the rope. "Great, thanks. Any spare nails, perhaps some old, worn-out horsehoes?" "We don't have nay spare horseshoes, but we have more nails than we need. Take as many as you like." QM Note: In other words, there's an unlimited supply of nails. I'm not going to make you collect little things like that.
Flipz Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Arthur suddenly has another flash of inspiration. "Say, does anyone think it might be a good idea to remove a few stones from the outer walls, so Alexandre and any other archers can fire at the elves from the protection of the walls? I believe the specific term is 'Balistraria.' We should also cut a few meurtrière in the floors of the upper levels, so we can pour scalding water over any invaders."
Kenghis Ghan Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 (edited) Spag's head started to hurt. All the extravagant ideas that Arthur was having were making him feel giddy. "Ugh... I think I needa sit down for a sec..." Edited December 14, 2011 by Kenghis Ghan
Capt.JohnPaul Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 So, I'm making a list of our ideas and what we have: Supplies: Water Wood/trees Household items Rope Nails Wheels Fire Oil Ideas: Catapult, we could make after finding more supplies Stakes and throwing spears, easy, all the wood. Pots and cauldrons to pour flaming oil and boiling water, easy Putting holes in the wall for me to shoot out of, seems difficult Did I miss anything?
